703 bar + kitchen
Nice place, good burger. Most of items on menu are bit over price.
Excellent crab and corn chowder. Good craft beer selection on draft. Friendly bar service.
Wonderful food. Vegan friendly. Many of us have eaten at a typical hotel restaurant. There is nothing typical about 703. The service was attentive and friendly. Go for the food. I was there with a business partner who has been vegan for 8 years. We started with, crispy Brussels sprouts, heirloom tomatoes and grilled peaches. Fantastic! She then lad an entree called hoppin john. It was with farro wonderful cauliflower beans etc. My partner was so impressed she took pictures. I had scallops which were perfectly prepared. What a gem of a restaurant.
a surprisingly great meal
House bacon and donuts
Smoked pork shank
Enjoyed a very nice dinner with delicious food, a wonderful waitstaff and quiet atmosphere.
Service is good. Food is a bit over price.
Was not impressed with the food. We were expecting the food to be presented better on the plate as well.
This is a difficult review to write, because we love the food here. Tonight, a Wednesday, service was way off. Not enough help, not great drinks and everything took way too long. Three hours for a dinner! Very disappointing. The salmon was great as was the ribeye steak. We'll give them one more try, to shape up. People are nice, but apologies only go so far.
First time eating here and it was wonderful. Everything fresh and creatively prepared. Love the large airy seating area. Bright and relaxing with plenty of space. Best dinner out, by far, in the Fairfax area.
Hot food on buffet was cold. Cold seafood on buffet was frozen. Even my teenage son did not want to eat the food, and he eats everything.
Dining room had a child screaming the entire time. Also had a single man (at a mother's day brunch) talking loudly on his cell phone. I complained to server but nothing was done. Our server never came to ask if everything was okay. She never asked if we wanted re-fills on our drinks. I can't say that she was to busy as the room was not full.
Also it seemed like some Mother's got a flower for attending and others did not.
I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Mother's Day brunch
Far overpriced for a Mother's Day Brunch based on food selection and quality. No real breakfast foods other than powdered eggs and greasy bacon. Plenty of pastries and fruit (low cost fillers.) No omlet / waffle station. Meat station had overcooked salmon and undercooked prime rib. Fried chicken was dry as a bone.
Service non-existent, and servers not dressed appropriately based on occasion (sloppy jeans, old aprons, etc.) Have had favorable experiences there in the past for special occasion brunch, but would not return.
Went for Mother's Day brunch and we were shocked at the meager variety of food on offer in the $45 per person buffet. The food was generally OK but long before we'd had all we could eat we'd run out of things worth trying, got bored, and left. I made a point of grabbing the check and paying before my father could see the bill because I was embarrassed at the price we were paying for such an underwhelming dining experience.
Hidden away at the Marriott at Fair Oaks. Good service, not at all crowded on a Sat night at 6pm. The crab and corn chowder was some of the best I've had. Overall food was very good. We will definitely return.
I realize this restaurant is within a hotel, but everything about this place was abysmal. We were hardly tended to, our food took forever to arrive, and when it did it was incorrect. The portions were beyond tiny for what we paid. Definitely will not ever return. This was a huge disappointment and I expected way better from Marriott.
went here on the recommendation of a neighbor. checked out the menu and thought it looked good. one of these use local fresh catch/produce type restaurants. In my reservation i said we were celebrating a birthday. We got there at 6:30. No one was in the restaurant. It is in a Marriott hotel and there were some people at the bar So we could sit any where we wanted. The waiter was nice but not at knowledgeable of the menu. Just walked over and asked if we wants any appetizers or did we want to go straight the dinner menu. Asked some questions. He could answer them somewhat but did not sell any of it. Didn't seem to be knowledgeable about where the menu items were sourced or care for that matter. Italian wedding soup was delicious. Birthday boy got the catch of the day- forgot what it was but he liked it. Asked the waiter what Flat iron steak was and he just said get the Beef Tenderloin- which i did and ordered it medium. Came out Rare.. Waiter took it back and by the time i got it back we had finished the rest of our meal. The beef was still what i would consider medium rare but the waiter never came back to see if it was ok. i ate it. As i said no one mentioned the birthday and i didn't bring it up as i got the impression it would not be a big deal to them... So the food was overall good outside the rare tenderloin but the experience was not a great one- particularly for a birthday dinner. At the end of the meal the waiter asked if he should charge it to our room. we said we were not staying at the hotel and he seemed surprised...
Like everyone in Norther Virginia, there could have been more wait staff. The young lady working the dining room AND bar was doing an outstanding job handling everything herself but she could have used a little help.
703 successfully accommodated my dietary restrictions. Excellent service as well
I know why they say, "never judge a book by its cover", yet I always do. In this case, I'm kind of glad I didn't. I chose this restaurant because the reviews on here were very good, it was local and something I haven't tried yet. When I pulled up and my GPS directed me to the Marriott, I thought it must be some mistake so I drove past, parked and double checked the location. Yup, I had booked our special dinner at a hotel bar.
But, it was amazing! On a Thursday night, the restaurant area was empty and they sat us far from the quite full bar. The service was excellent! I read some reviews that said otherwise and I also read some reviews that prices were too high. The prices were a tad high for the area but again it is a hotel restaurant and the mark up is always higher, but the prices had fallen from some of the earlier reviews. The drinks and the food were all phenomenal. I would definitely recommend this. Keep an open mind!
We loved this place. We decided to try something new and a little bit nicer for date night than we usually do and we were pleasantly surprised by 703. The booths were way more comfortable than any other restaurant we have ever been in and the food was fantastic. The Yohanan Farm Roasted Chicken was great. It was served with the best tater tots I've ever eaten and perfectly cooked broccolini. My husband had Chef Peter’s Buttermilk Fried Chicken which was also great. They drizzled the honey on top of the chicken and thought it would be better on the corn cakes instead. The whole meal was great and the waiter was attentive. We didn't have to wait to long for service, our food or the check. We will definitely be going back.
This is a hidden gem in the Marriott Hotel. The service was good. Had an amazing beer selection. Price was moderate for the location. Overall a good place to have dinner and drinks. I would recommend.
Waitress was wonderful and really catered to us for our anniversary. My food was good had the tenderloin, husbands meal not so good, had the chichen. They served up a nice dessert we shared.
I went here last night and was surprised how nice it was for being in a Marriott hotel. I ordered the clam and corn chowder which was a significant step up from what you'd get in a diner. We followed that up with a margarita flat bread that was the worst item we bought - not that flavorful but I did like the half baby tomatoes served as toppings. We also ordered the mac and cheese with spare ribs as a topping. The Mac and cheese was good but spare ribs tasted more like pulled BBQ.
We both ordered burgers for our main entrees. They were well cooked and had fresh toppings and were the highlight of the meal.
The ambiance was great - there was a nice fire place and the area was nicely decorated. The service was also great - our server refilled my water at least 5 times (I had just come from a hockey game) and was very nice and attentive.
Overall, I will definitely come back, it was a good experience.
We really enjoyed our Valentines dinner, the food was excellent, Beautiful presentation, Great service. Definitely recommend to friends, family and anyone who loves gourmet food.
The food was very mediocre at best. And it was really overpriced for what it was and the menus pricing really didn't make sense. Things like fried chicken for $22 it was just no perception of value there. The other things that the six of us had we're really very only fair
Great food - loved the bar food bites as appetizers! Service was friendly and food was phenomenal. We will be back!!
I truly enjoy having my Birthday day dinner with my family in the nice quiet, intimate setting of the 703 bar & kitchen
-difficult to find, was not aware it was inside the Marriott.
-lacked formal host stand, had to request to be checked in through open table in order to be counted as present.
-food was okay at best. The starters and cocktails were highlights of the meal; entrees were mediocre and absolutely not worth the money charged.
Food was bland. Extremely hot. Almost like the chef put our food in the microwave twice. Server was nice but not very responsive. Had to ask for bread, i'm still waiting for a drink refill. Overpriced for the food quality. I would not recommend
Awesome place and pretty intimate! Although the hotel doesn't look that nice on the outside, it's very beautiful on the inside.
I booked this restaurant not knowing it was the restaurant inside of a hotel. Not really the type of venue I was looking for when I was reaearching a quiet restaurant with great food. Looking past that, since it was my mistake and not theirs, the food was good, but I feel a little too pricey for what you get. The space is visually nice, but your conversation gets diluted with the crowds of people passing through as you're trying to eat. If feels as though you are seated in the hotel lobby. For this reason, I won't go again unless I'm actually staying at the hotel.
This attractive restaurant is located in the Marriott Hotel at Fair Oaks. The food was very good and presented well. I enjoyed my salmon with roasted gourmet vegetables. My husband had the roasted chicken that came in a pot. He said he would order it again. We were celebrating a special anniversary and they gave us a choice of a complimentary dessert. We chose the chocolate walnut sundae. Yum!!!
Overall visit was excellent. Good food. Outstanding service. We will definitely be repeat customers.
Salmon was great; Trout was dry; sides were commendable; grilled shrimp appetizer was terrific. Miranda provided great service! Dinner in a hotel is a slow time for them with the competition of the upscale establishements across the street at the Fair Oaks mall.
The food was delicious but quite pricey. Service we okay, but slow in getting food. Server was very pleasant and easy to talk to. When we arrived there was no one greeting and seating we had to standthe middle of an open area for a while until the person at the bar noticed us and sat us.
We were a group of 6 women. We went there so we could talk. Most restaurants are so noisy. This one is quiet.
We already knew it would be freezing in there so we brought wraps. Food was good. Our waiter needs to be retrained. He was not up to Marriott standards. He was extremely slow and left plates on the table.
We ended up here after our previous plans fell through. We weren't expecting much because it's part of the Marriott Hotel, but it was decent. The staff was awesome. Helpful, attentive, professional. Food was good but pricey, but that's usually the way it is in a hotel. Everything came out at the appropriate times, was cooked the way we requested, and I ordered a cocktail that was delicious. If the prices were better, I'd go back. If everything at the mall was busy, I'd go back.
The Old Bay pita chips with the crab dip were incredible!
The baked goat cheese appetizer was very good, and the soup of the day was also quite tasty.
If you find yourself at Fair Oaks mall or working/living in the area and want to try something different from the same old mall restaurants, go to 703 in the Fairfax Marriott at Fair Oaks. I had the bacon wrapped dates to start and I never knew I liked dates, these could have been a meal all by themselves. I also had to try another of their starters, homemade truffle tater tots, wow. Finally I had a salad, it was green been, with tomato and fresh mozzarella...a far cry from the typical caprese salad.
The atmosphere in the bar area is great....wasn't too noisy the night I was there, and you can't beet the fireplace.
The service, was also excellent, the bartender made my martini just the way I like them, and the server was very attentive, and happy to assist.
All in all, I look forward to going back and actually trying one of their meals. Excellent restaurant.
