801 Chophouse – Kansas City

We visited for my boyfriend’s birthday and they made us feel like the most important table. That was largely due to Camille. She was probably the best server I have ever had in my life. She was stellar and welcoming and charming. She made us feel like VIPs and even talked us into one of the Top 5 best cocktails I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot of cocktails...), the grapefruit martini. You *need* to try it!!

We were treated horribly by our waiter and the entire staff. I will never go back again. Way overpriced for what you get!

My wife and I have been celebrating our anniversary at the Chophouse for several years. I knew I had found our place when the first year my wife finished her steak and asked for bread to clean up the left over sauce (she is not a meat eater, I am the carnivore). We have never been disappointed since. The staff treat you like special family and are right there at the right time to take care of you. Going to the Chophouse during the KC Restaurant week is a great way to treat yourself.

The service and atmosphere were what you'd expect from a nice place like this, but the food was not amazing. Definitely not up to the $50 a plate we invested (thanks to restuarant week).

Our first visit to 801 Chophouse was above our expectations! Pricing is on the higher end, but well worth it. The food & service was outstanding! Our server, Andy, was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed!

We have eaten at 801 chophouse once before, and it was delicious. We decided to take advantage of KC restaurant week for a more "affordable" night out at 801. Service was great but felt like the the restaurant week menu items were not prepared at the same level of quality as regular menu items.

We ate on Sunday and we there right when they opened, there were not a lot of other tables around so it wasn't even like they were busy and we still had issues with our food.

We had to send back steak that was cooked medium rare but ordered well done. When we went the first time to 801, we ordered a side of green beans and they were sauteed with onions and bacon. They were delicious. The green beans that were paired with the steak were just plain old green beans. I make better green beans at home.

My husband got the pork chop and his sides were brussels sprouts and potatoes and they tasted like they had been sitting under the warmer for a while.

The cheesecake was not very good. Tasted like it was old. The texture of the cheesecake was kind of rubbery and the crust was soggy. This is considered an expensive restaurant for our family and normally we do not eat at places like this, so this was supposed to be a real treat for our family. Unfortunately it did not turn out that way. We enjoyed ourselves because we were together, but the food was not worth it. Family of four, spent $300 on a special night out and the food was a bust. Wish we would have tried a different restaurant.

The value was outstanding only because we happened to dine during a restaurant week - the meal was exceptional!!!

We celebrated our anniversary dinner and everything was fantastic. Service was great and nice detail on the menu and the dessert celebrating our anniversary. Looking forward to coming back. Meat dishes were great and the creme brûlée definitely worth coming back for.

The restaurant week food and add ons we ordered were pretty spectacular overall. I loved that wine options were included too. However the desserts included on the restaurant week menu were lame and not did not taste good. Also my steak was undercooked (red and cool center, ordered Med) but since service was lacking, I just ate it anyway. We were sat, then they moved us bc it was “a regulars” table. It took awhile to get service. Our salads were amazing but we had to ask for pepper and it never came until we were almost finished. I was not offered bearnaise and forgot to order it so that was a miss too. No one ever poured any of our two bottles of wine. It took much longer than it should have to clear after each course. No coffee or aperitifs were offered. I expected much better overall service from this high quality and expensive. restaurant. Our enjoyment should feted as did any up sales for the restaurant. But again, appetizers, salads, sides, and everyone else’s steaks were scrumptious.

Great food, great atmosphere. Felt safe to dine in the restaurant during COVID.

They had birthday decor for my boyfriends bday! It was very nice.

Enjoyed our waiter Andrew, his recommendations and information of specials. Great Kansas City space.

Solid steakhouse experience. Particularly notable was the Béarnaise sauce, which was the best I've had outside France. Why more US chefs don't incorporate enough acidity is beyond me.

Great service and a reasonable corkage fee were also strong points. Will return soon.

The food was fantastic. The service was spot on. Drink options were diverse. Wine, bourbon, and scotch lists in particular were amazing. Server was knowledgeable and friendly. Pricey but worth every penny.

Nice quite place to enjoy a meal. The food was prepared perfectly. The service was fast but the staff did not hover around and allowed our table to have a very relaxing evening. Highly recommend.

Love this place and the food.

This was by far the best dining experience I have ever had in Kansas City. Excellent service - wonderful meal. Highly recommend.

They got our orders wrong and forgot to bring out parts of our meals. While we waited, the food got cold and by then, we were over it. A free dessert couldn’t have even kept us there. Almost $300 later, we left with empty stomachs.

Sean was amazing! My teenage kids said it was the most amazing experience they’ve ever had!

Dinner was outstanding. Our server was attentive and he had excellent recommendations for dinner. The night was perfect.

Our first visit to this location was so amazing we wanted to go again. It was my husbands birthday so we did. They made it feel special with confetti and menus indicating it was his bday which was a nice touch. The food this time was not that great. My steak was so burnt on top it dried it out and flavorless. Prob a one off tho

Wonderful grilled oysters and steaks! Wait staff were exceptional. It was our first visit, but we will be back.
