   Fabulous ! The Reubens delivered the perfect afternoon tea experience , upon discovering it was mine and my friend’s birthday celebration they treated us like royalty - wonderful little touches such mini Prosecco cocktails with wonderful chocolates and a mini birthday cake . We had booked bottomless champagne tea and they were very generous ! Great service , great ambience - highly recommend for a special treat

   I so rarely write reviews, but this was so disappointing. The ambiance was great, but that’s about it. I took my daughter here for her first tea and she loved the experience, but the food was subpar. I let the staff know 3x that we do not eat pork/gelatin and they served a ham sandwich to us. Their scones were good, but the sandwiches were dry with very little flavor. None of the pastries weee very good and I would not recommend this tea to anyone. I have had better £20 tea services. With tip we were at £100 for one adult and one child. Fortnum & Mason’s is dramatically better and roughly the same cost.

   From the moment we arrived at The Rubens Hotel we were greeted with warm & friendly staff. The food was lovely and fresh and we were fortunate enough to have a window seat. The only downside is the bay trees outside obscured the view of The Mews opposite. We paid for the bottomless champagne and they were very good at refilling your glass and did not need to get their attention. The lady that served us offered advice on the teas as we were not big tea drinkers. Overall a lovely experience and would definitely go again

   Many different tee options and very kind about offering seconds on everything. Food quality at the price was so-so. Service was excellent, attentive and nice, but room was showing its age.

   Afternoon Tea at the Palace Lounge was an absolute treat. The sandwiches and cakes were beautiful and tasted amazing - everything you could want from afternoon tea. The staff were also so very professional and friendly and clearly understood the service they were providing. If you are lucky enough to have a window seat you will almost definitely want to stay longer to just watch the world go by.

    Setting was very festive. We were shown to our table and the waitress left us with "You have 90 minutes, OK?!" - then left us for a good 10-15 minutes. No bottomless champagne for me (and my friend was drinking Coke!). Eventually it came, then the food. The food was nice. Massive portions (I got some boxed and gave to a homeless person after). The drinks were slow to top up. We kept having to ask...and wait...with empty glasses. We weren't moved on after 90 minutes and they topped up my glass a couple more times. Nothing was said. Then the bill came. They'd added £18 per GLASS without saying anything. So (as my friend joined us, we expected to pay for her 2 glasses) the bill ended up over £200. We made the case that no-one had said anything when the clock started, we'd gone over time but not massively so (and the drinks had been late, and one of us wasn't drinking at all!). They thankfully knocked 3 drinks off the bill. Just a bit naughty. Took the shine off massively. Didn't feel as special as the Dorchester.

    My husband and I wanted to try a fun Christmas tea in London on our vacation. This was the perfect spot. Such a lovely property, decorated beautifully for Christmas. The elegant service, tea and pastries were delicious. What an amazing treat!

    Absolutely amazing experience! We return year after year in December to London and Reubens. I don’t know how they do it but every year the experience just improves and gets better and better. Really kick starts our Christmas. We will continue with our Christmas tradition of afternoon tea at “Reubens” for many years to come! Wonderful and Special, Love it all!

    Had to wait 30’ from our scheduled time because the table was not yet ready. Yes they gave us a complimentary glass of champagne but as we had a theatre booking as well later on, it all felt a bit rush. The staff was friendly, helpful and apologetic in all this, so overall it was still a positive experience

    I was very disappointed with this tea: the price is truly extortionate for what you get. Everything is very mass produced and the "pastries" were largely inedible. Service was slow and had to flag someone down for more hot water. We weren't told until after we sat down that there was a time limit to the table. Touristy, expensive and not tasty. Do not go.

    The setting of the afternoon tea is beautiful although we were put on this make shift table where it kept bashing into our knees because it was so low. I’m unsure why they put us here as it was pretty quiet. We opted for the gluten free afternoon tea which was okay, but appreciate it can be tricky. The sandwiches were great, the scones were good too however, the selection of cakes and pastries were not so great. The textures and overpowering flavours let them down. We also had 25% off from an opentable offer but the server was unaware of this. Eventually they came back with the correct bill. Overall, this experience wasn’t bad but there are better options out there.

    Rubens Afternoon Tea is served overlooking a gate to the Palace Mews. Great for people watching if you have a window seat! Tea selection is good and cannot complain about the sandwiches, plentiful and fresh: scones both tasted the same - but they were good. We’re not normally cake lovers but these were very good. We had the bottomless fizz option, the glasses were mostly kept topped up with a few prompts having to be given but it wasn’t long. My main concern is the seating/tables. We moved as we couldn’t actually sit at the table as our legs couldn’t go under! We moved to another very small, low sofa, cozy with my other half, not sure I’d be comfortable with anyone else; here too the tables are restricted in height and we sat demurely to the side. After having a few glasses of fizz I didn’t worry but standing up was an awful long way from the sofa (I’m 5’8)! A pleasant way to while away a few hours in London.

    We had a wonderful afternoon tea. The surroundings were comfortable and plush, the food was delicious with very flavoursome and inventive cakes and the service was fantastic. Our hostess was so friendly and thoughtful and she made us feel so comfortable and welcome, including our 8 month old baby and 3 year old daughter. We all had a fantastic time and really enjoyed the tea.

    The Palace Lounge is exactly what you’d hope for, when considering afternoon tea. Comfortable and elegant. Very warm and professional service. The actual afternoon tea itself has very few peers. The highest compliment I can pay is that the only time I’ve enjoyed afternoon tea more was at the Peninsula Hotel in Kowloon (Hong Kong). The Rubens was certainly very close. EXCELLENT thank you

    I took my mum to Rubens at the Palace for the Royal Afternoon Tea on her birthday and it was the perfect way to spend the afternoon. The service and food was amazing, would definitely recommend this afternoon tea, prices are reasonable for what you get and the view of Buckingham Palace is pretty special!

    We had a lovely welcome and the team really looked after us. They were articulate in informing us on the menus and what we were to expect. The team even gave my step daughter a birthday cake!! Thanks so much for a great experience we will definitely be coming back! :)

    The best Gluten Free afternoon tea I have e or had....and I have had quite a few. Delicious food, wonderful staff who were friendly and attentive. Plenty of food with more if you wanted it and copious amounts of tea.

    Go hungry! I treated myself to afternoon tea after a visit to the Queens Gallery and Royal Mews. Thought it might be a bit awkward having afternoon tea alone but not at all thanks to a warm and friendly staff who treated me like I was royalty! The food was amazing —totally, totally a British experience in a lovely room and perfect location.

    I was treated like royalty! Excellent service from arrival to leaving. Amazing array of food. I had emailed a few days before with my food allergies, not long after being shown to our table the manager reared off from memory my list of allergies & explained what I couldn't eat. Excellent choice of superior teas & also a choice of champagne. 5*

    Our second time here and somehow the experience has changed. We loved our first visit, expanse of teas, bubbly staff and no rush. Now you get a very small selection of tea and we could only have the table for a set time. The cakes came out and I would expect enough for one of each choice per person as that is what we are ultimately paying for, but we had to ask for extra cake. This wasn't a problem to the staff but we shouldn't have needed to ask. A very lovely afternoon tea but the atmosphere now somehow feels rather stuffy and contrived.

    We had 2 adults’ afternoon and 1 little prince one. I was quite disappointed that we only had one cake each to share rather than individual cakes each, and that the little prince tea didn’t come with its own little stand of cakes and sandwiches. I think this would have been much nicer, and would have felt like a real treat for children. On the plus side, the service was excellent - the waitress who served us was really friendly and catered to our needs without being too intrusive (there was no hovering around us). Moreover, the scones were particularly delicious, especially the choc chip ones. The Queen’s jammy dodger was also lovely and deliciously crumbly. We were also able to take some of the leftover cakes home, which I really appreciated. Overall, it was a pleasant experience but I think a few things could be improved so as to make the experience truly special!

    We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Palace Lounge for Afternoon Tea. The service provided was second to none! As a group of Muslim diners, we have special dietary requirements, to which the restaurant catered to our every need. They even provided us with a lovely room to pray. This is the second time I have visited the restaurant, and needless to say I would love to visit again in the future. Highly recommend!

    A table in the window, outstanding service, some lovely treats both sweet and savoury, delicious Champagne and a few complimentary add-ons along the way made the afternoon particularly memorable. After the tea we adjourned to the bar for a couple more drinks whilst enjoying the performance of a talented singer. An altogether great experience.
