Akai Lounge - Englewood

Food was ok for pricey food. Noise bar talking one language sushi place talking other language loud. Wrong to seat in middle 😂. BBQ Taco was mess to eat need to upgrade ( bun ripped two parks and meat failing don’t know how to eat)

Akai has never disappointed me. This dining experience was no different. The food was absolutely delish and the service is always exceptional.

Akai is always on of our top pics. James and Min are fabulous owners/hosts/servers. Everything they serve you is made with dedication and prepared perfectly. We liked the new decor (black velvet wall) and additions to the menu like soup dumplings.

Was seated and greeted immediately. Our waiter was great the food was delicious and we werent rushed. Highly recommend.

Sushi and sashimi was fresh. I would be selective with which rolls to order. A lot of the rolls had cooked fish. The short rib from their specials was tough, needed to be cooked longer but had good flavor. I would try again but stick with sushi and sashimi only.

Awesome, as always. Staff, owners, cooks, everyone does their best to make dining enjoyable. There is a general noise level that rises as the crowd increases. If you sit in the corner by the window in the front of the dining room it is extremely noisy. The tradeoff is being able to watch the street traffic but it can get VERY loud in that corner.

Very overpriced for what the experience it. It’s just Asian-American fusion fare (leaning more on the American side). A little above diner quality. Vibe of the restaurant feels pretty cheap too with the bright red wall painting.

Our home away from home for lunch on Saturdays, quiet but the food is worth it !!!

This was our second time at the Akai Lounge and again they did not dissapoint.We had the 3 roll special which included the best spicy tuna roll we ever had.The yellowtail and scallion roll was also delicious as was the oshinko roll.We had 3 pieces of salmon sushi and 3 pieces of tuna sushi all just melted in your mouth.We had the NY Knicks roll which was salmon over Chilean sea bass.Just incredible.For dessert my wife had vanilla and strawberry mochi ice cream.She loved it.We have not found a better Japanese Restaurant in the tristate area then tha Akai Lounge

Best Asian cuisine in the area. After trying many different restaurants this is by far our favorite!!!

Sushi and Sashimi were good quality...Maki rolls were ample portions. All ordered was liked by our entire party.
Only downside were the Spicy Tuna/Yellowtail/Salmon rolls which were all made with minced fish and each was same red color and taste...wouldn't suggest them.

First if you go to Akai Lounge,which you should,ask to have Mikey as your waiter.He guides you through the menu and makes sure you are getting everything you like.We ordered the Omakase which is the sushi chef’s choices of the 12 best pieces of sushi for $95.It also included 3 incredible appetizers.A toro tartare, a avocado stuffed with tuna,salmon and yellowtail and a kind of Japanese tuna salad with fresh tuna.All the appetizers were delicious.My wife and I each ordered the Omakase.Mikey said that would be too much food .He was right.The pieces of sushi were delicious.They included pieces of King Salmon,Toro and various fish imported from Japan We also shared an order of soba which is buckwheat noodles.Finally we ordered a few pieces of eel sushi.Everything was great.For dessert my wife had vanilla and strawberry mochi ice cream.We also has some really good cold sake.This was some of the best sushi my wife and I ever had.It was like eating in Tokyo.So if you are near Englewood,New Jersey please go treat yourself to a great Sushi experience and go to Akai Lounge.Be sure to ask for Mikeyas your waiter and guide

Some of the roles did not have a lot of taste but the fish was exceptionally fresh and the service was wonderful

What a terrible meal. Oysters were not fresh. When we complained, we tried 4 for 4 of us. We were charged $10 when dozen was $22. The sea bass was so sweet, muscles were tiny and half of the shells were empty. For $200 we spend it was a really bad meal. We will not come back.

Nice place: good food, good service, good atmosphere, great value

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Akai. Service was great and included a visit from the owner ensuring we were satisfied with our meal, drinks, etc. Location is a 3 minute walk from the Bergen PAC which will make Akai and their tasty sushi our go-to restaurant for pre-show dining.

Nice dinner with my husband pre concert. Fast service, good food and walking distance to the PAC.

Akai is one of our favorite got-to places and one of the few where we have never had a bad meal. Some items are too spicy for me but that does not make them less than great. Cozy and comfortable. Staff is always courteous and timely. If you attend a show at the nearby BergenPAC in the summer especially it is a short walk from parking and the show.

Not bad but far from great.
