Sat on the patio. It was as very nice and quiet. Food was delish. Service was excellent.
The food and service was excellent. I would return. The views are great too.
Clearly. there was not enough wait staff for the number of customers so we had an inordinately long wait for our food. Our waiter was apologetic and quite friendly and we knew it wasn't his fault. The table wasn't set up properly with silverware or water and we had to ask for items.
The food was good and served hot. I would not recommend going there if you are in a hurry. It had a nice ambience.
I know this wasn't an Allgauer's problem but the toilets in the women's restroom weren't flushing and it was a mess. I did report that.
Ordered large chopped salad, which wasn’t chopped and mostly greens. Only had 4-5 dressings to choose from, not even thousand island. Ordered flat bread which was very small with very little flavor. The menu is nice, but food left a lot to be desired. Only 5 booths in the whole restaurant were filled. I believe if they improve upon their food quality, it may draw in more customers.
Reserved a patio on Open Table and they did not have an outdoor table ready so had to wait for it to be set u. Also (our mistake) did not realize they are only open for plates brunch, not buffet (though there was a nice dessert table). Service very slow on the patio - they were understaffed. Very generous portions and good quality, tasty, creative food.
Great food and service. ………………………….:::::::::::::::::
The patio was very relaxing with only a few tables. The wait staff worked very hard to serve us despite being undermanned. Very pleasant evening on the river.
The only reason I marked down the ambiance is because there was a group of five or six friends having drinks nearby with potty mouths almost the entire evening we were dining. This was an anniversary dinner and we had driven 5 hrs from Ohio to the resort we were staying at. A little annoying. Everything else was wonderful.
We had a delightful experience here. The ambiance is quiet and beautiful. The service is prompt and friendly. The food is delicious, and I'm particularly impressed by the creativity of the vegetarian friendly dishes. So nice to see something besides pasta primavera for a vegetarian entree! The cocktails are delicious and good sized. My husband said his salmon entree was fantastic. The presentation of the food is beautiful. And there is a nice selection of wine and beer. Prices are average for this scale of restaurant. We will be back again and again.
Absolutely horrendous. We were the first table to sit inside. Two hours later - we left after receiving our overcooked and inedible entrees. Our server was doing the very best he could while being massively over sat. Manager - no where to be found. When my husband requested one he was told the manager had left for the day - a woman wearing crocs and no identification finally arrived and said she was from “the front desk”. The worst part of the entire experience - if there was a manager they left their staff without any support. Completely irresponsible and horrible business practices. I hope the staff can use this current opportunity where servers are in demand to find a better place to work.
While being a holiday, Mother's Day, the restaURANT WAS QUITE EMPTY AND STAFFING APPEARED LIGHT. tABLE SERVICE WAS SLOW.
i CONTINUE TO LIKE THE RESTAURANT HOWEVER.
The shrimp dishes were both excellent as well as our soup and crab cakes. Our deserts were also very good. The service was top notch.
Reserved an “outdoor” table only to find they did not have it (please update Open Table system). Half of the indoor restaurant was closed off forcing diners to be closer than necessary during COVID. Food was good but took FOREVER (literally 30+ mins for ice cream). Hostess could use a bit of customer service training.
Food was good, though it took quite awhile to get our food.
Lovely views, pleasant atmosphere and low noise level but we dine early. Service was very slow. Fortunately we were not in a hurry. My husband really enjoyed his entree but not the soup. I enjoyed my salad but my entree lacked in flavor and presentation.
Good Easter meal in a comfortable atmosphere. We'll dine there again.
The restaurant was very empty at this time of day for Easter at 4 pm. When we arrived we were told to sit in the lobby since they were changing the tables from brunch to dinner. When we sat down the waiter asked what we wanted to drink I said a Diet Coke with dinner. My husband order soup with his dinner which never came. The meals took a long time and finally when they were served the soup never appeared. They finally brought my drink when i asked for it not remembering what I had ordered. We decided to also order a dessert of Lemon meringue pie to spit. The brought the pie in which did not look like what we ordered and said it was on them since they forgot to bring the soup. The dessert tasted great but when we got the bill we were still billed for the soup and not the dessert so the dessert really was not on them.
The food was good, the restaurant was quiet and service was great!
Was there on a Thursday evening for a quick bite, and it was eerie because we were the only ones there (and it's a huge space). But, the service was attentive, the food good and we'll be back. I don't know why a place like this, that's been around for decades and has a good reputation, would be completely empty on a Thursday evening- can it really be COVID related?
We were celebrating my wife's 70th birthday and the couple we were with and ourselves had a great meal and a good time.
Friday Fish Fry. The fish we got was cold, but the 2nd time we got it was fine. Service was spotty. Place had a terrible vibe. Maybe it will be better post-covid, but I won't be back soon.
Allgauers is a hotel restaurant. The food was good but the ambience was not what I expected. If looking for a romantic restaurant, this is not it.
We were the only ones in the place..........a pleasure to quietly dine.
Nice very clean good atmosphere with good food and great service
Restaurant not real special much like any hotel lobby restaurant. Expected more because of all the Banque rooms.
I won't be coming back. The service was terrible.
The servers were very attentive & the food was great!
We had a very nice dinner sitting outside and the service was very good. It was a nice evening and sitting on the patio was perfect.
Beautiful patio on the river, patio heaters, amazing food, and warm, wonderful service. Super safe and they treated us like royalty. Can’t wait to go back!
Tried the Sunday brunch outdoors, riverside, on a beautiful crisp day. Social distancing was great & staff were masked and careful. The menu is limited compared to pre-pandemic, and sides are charged individually. Seating is available both indoors and outside. Next time we'll go later in the day and try the "burger & a beer combo that is on special.
We will definitely return. The outside patio is beautiful. They put the propane heaters on.We ordered a chopped salad and they split it in the kitchen which I really appreciate. My husband ordered the meat trio flat bread which was just ok. I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich which was excellent.
Horrible place. Will never go again They should just close the restaurant.
We had a very nice dinner on the patio. The shrimp bisque was to die for. A little noise from Milwaukee Ave., but otherwise very nice sitting out under the trees.
Food, service and atmosphere——— Awesome. Eating outside was great and there was a wedding scheduled that we got to witness and feel happy for the bride and groom.
Arrived a couple hours early before our Baecation began so we made reservations to have early dinner. The Honey Ginger crusted Salad was delicious the Salmon was very tender and wasn’t dry at all. Hubby enjoyed the Chicken Stroganoff and Stuffed Mushrooms. The dining area was beautiful, quiet and perfectly lit for a romantic dinner.
We went there for brunch. We ate outdoors. It is next to the Des Plaines River. The food was good, but it is much cheaper and better in a pancake restaurant like Elly’s or Annie’s. The patio is only nice in nice weather. If it is hot or raining don’t go there. We got caught in an unexpected downpour which wasn’t supposed to happen for three hours.
We never even ate at this restaurant. We requested outdoor dining and when we arrived the tables used were terrible, the pillows for the chairs were ripped and food stained, and the ambiance left a lot to be desired. When we got to the restaurant, we were handed a menu that was very limited compared to their normal menu. So limited that we found nothing to eat on the menu and left without eating. I would suggest when you are limiting the menu, you make that apparent to on you website so people do not have the same experience.
It was ok. Not really on the river, but on the pond. It was closer to the traffic than I expected. The menu is much smaller than shown on open table. I understand why but still a little disappointing. Food was good.
Outdoor, pretty view by the river
We were the only people inside in the dining room...no music on so very weirdly quiet. Everyone was very nice and helpful
