food was delish. outdoor dining felt safe. could have had more heaters, but tolerable with jkt, scarf and hat! :)

Their focaccia pizza pie is a must for a starter. I had the tuna with lentils which was a real treat. We were outside and cold, but the heaters helped.

We have eaten at this restaurant probably a dozen times (last July 2020), and I always considered it a favorite go-to with friends in our neighborhood. But this last experience was disappointing, maybe the cold weather, or kitchen fatigue.

I also understand the financial pressure restaurants have due to COVID, but $18 for an affogato?! It was not even very good as the espresso was very cold by the time it was served. Serving it in a martini glass is not a reason to charge cocktail prices, way higher than the prices charged for their standard desserts. And there was no prior warning about the charge. We would have passed if their charge for the item had been disclosed, which it should have been as it was so out of line with the regular menu desserts.

Amaranth is always delicious and the outdoor dining was awesome - I felt very safe sotting at a stand alone 2 top and was very warm with The heat lamp.

Always a good choise

A very enjoyable dinner sitting outside on a beautiful fall evening. There was a vibe, which I’ve missed terribly since COVID started. Food was great. I had the NY Strip and it was cooked perfectly with well done fries. The soups were delish. And the appetizers were also excellent. A singer came by and sang a Sinatra song along with some other tunes. People were conversing some. I dare to say it was the type of evening that didn’t make you think of what’s going on today.

My guest and I had a lovely lunch. Everything was perfect: the food and the service were great. My guest said that he had had a "wonderful" lunch, and I concur. I shall definitely return for another great meal at Amaranth, when indoor dining once again returns to NYC.

Service was excellent & ambience too. We got the artichoke and avo app very small portion overpriced for $27. Wild salmon as a main extremely salty and greasy, asparagus were raw. Ravioli pasta nothing special was very decent. Last time I came at amaranth was 5 years ago and remembered the food

Dined outdoors. Service was not as good as it should have been. Very pricey for what you get. Outdoor area very nicely set up.

Lovely ambience .. the worst rack of lamb that I have ever eaten .

As always what we enjoy at Amaranth is the regularity and the constancy in the quality of the food they serve not tomention theperfect service

Reception not very helpful to get you a table. I would have liked a better treatment. When you talk to receptionist is as though he is doing a favor and instead I would have liked to feel special and thankful that I chose to have dinner at Amaranth.
The waiters are excellent, amazing treatment and food excellent.
I would have like a better Malbec wine. Suggestion: Catena Zapata, DV Catena, Trapiche Medalla, Rutini.

The food and service were excellent. As the temp drops and it is darker, earlier you need more heat lamps and brighter (or more) candle light on each table.

Yes, it is expensive, but the Veal and Dover Sole were delicious, the wait staff excellent, the outdoor space lovely with tables well space. A much needed night out during COVID couldn’t have been better.

Going out with the wife, and sat in the outdoor seating area. The food was great, I recommend the zucchini garzpacho which was amazing. Everything was fantastic, and we look forward to heading back.

It was a very enjoyable outdoor dinner. Food was excellent but a little pricey. Loved the singer but felt that walking around with a bag looking for $$ was a bit tacky.

Amaranth was very good but jt was much fancier and much more expensive than expected.

To say the food is mediocre and tastes exactly like deli food would be too generous. Greens were old, salad lacked flavor, entree is just what I used to eat on campus when I had no money. Very disappointing:(

Wait staff is lax

Plenty of outdoor space (on 9/26/20). Live entertainment. Food and service were top notch.

We are outside during COVID and they did a great job setting up tables etc. it was a beautiful summer evening and the food was delicious! I recommend the lobster salad and the Branzino.

Veal chop was tough I had to send it back. Although they did refund me which was nice. Chicken salad was good
Service was terrible

Restaurant was a crowded disaster. Host was rude and it was impossible to know when we would sit. We were early for our reservation and were not seated after 45 minutes plus of waiting. This place seems to just take endless reservations and ignore people when they arrive.

I love their pasta dishes!
