Creative dishes all very well prepared and presented.
The service at APS was the best I’ve had in Austin in recent memory. The ingredients were fresh and the dishes were presented in a beautiful way. We will absolutely be back and are thankful to have discovered this special restaurant!
The food was wonderful. It is very creative
A gem on the edge of the Texas Hill Country. The food is spectacular, and the honey/bee influence, as well as the local sourcing, makes the experience feel particularly special.
Was amazing! So glad we went waitstaff was really the stars!!!! Love this place.
Incredibly unique and delicious food - every bite is exciting! And phenomenal service too!
Really inventive dishes, delicious! Way out there but a nice place to celebrate special occasions
Everything we had was very good to great. 3 course meal and went with the 40 day dry aged ribeye for main course, which was very good, but I would probably pass next time given the upcharge. Foie gras was very tasty, extremely rich.
The food was excellent with very unique flavors. Very good and friendly service. Very knowledgeable and open to share food fact of your meal. We are looking forward to visiting again!
The food was incredible and reasonably priced. Service (especially Aja) was outstanding. Will definitely return
Fabulous! Loved it!
Amazing service and food was as good as I remember!
Went on a Thursday night - staff very friendly and helpful describing each selection. Food was delicious and served without rushing as we finished each course.
Haven't been to Apis in over a year we were pleasantly surprised the menu is very good now. The range of dishes will satisfy anyone. The wines by the bottle were fairly priced, some more choices by the glass would be nice.
I LOVE this restaurant. Truly a gem in the middle of nowhere. Worth the trip!!
Very special meal. It felt like the people in the kitchen really cared about making each individual meal and course special. Each course that we had and we had three, was delicious, beautifully presented and explained. i’m so glad that it came with an explanation so that I could really feel the love and care that went into each course. Great night, great restaurant.
Food was superb, service equally excellent. Ambiance complimented the food and service.
Absolutely remarkable anniversary dinner
Apis continues to impress!
Their food, service and passion for what they do are unmatched.
Apis restaurant definitely lives up to its name and the prix fixe course is a good choice. I loved that all their plates had a unique touch that related to the apiary onsite. Service was great and overall setup was extremely nice. A good place one should check out at least once.
We had the most wonderful experience. The food was phenomenal and the service was superior. We loved that the service was attentive but not overbearing. I was originally concerned that the portions would leave me hungry, but I added a snack and was more than full by the end of the meal. Everything was fantastic! Thanks for an excellent anniversary meal!
This was not our first trip to Apis and we have never been disappointed. This place just gets it -- excellent and interesting food, good wine selections, excellent and friendly service.
This was our first visit to Apis and it will not be our last! All of our dishes showed so much creativity and were all delicious. The service was excellent as well. We live in central Austin, so unfortunately due to the heavy Austin traffic we will not be able to frequent regularly but anytime we see an opportunity to return we surely will.
Always pleased with APIs. The ambiance is perfect—soft music and conversation, perfect so it’s not awkwardly quiet and you feel like your at cool spot, but not too loud so you have to yell to hear one another. The menu is delightful and filling, as always. The cocktails were amazing, our server (Jason??) was the best & made the perfect recommendations. Can’t wait for another occasion to go back.
My wife and I went to APIs for our first time. We haven’t had a date night in months and have lived near the restaurant for a year and never tried it. So very glad we finally went. Our server Taylor was awesome!! Very personable and engaging. The food was fantastic! Some of the portions were a little smaller than I had hoped, but the flavor and plating was on point! I have not stopped talking about it and would highly recommend anyone to dine there. Well worth the drive if you don’t live near it!
Our party of 3 enjoyed the Pre Fixe menu, which offered delightful choices of appetizers, main course dishes and deserts to our different tastes and dietary requirements. The pace of the service perfect. The knowledge and communication skills of our server, Aja, was superb. She addressed if anyone in our party had any food related concerns soon after we were seated, and made appropriate suggestions. Every dish was prepared and presented expertly with unique flavor combinations. The music softly playing in the background added to the delightful ambiance. At the end of our meal, chef/owner Taylor Hall graciously came to our table when we inquired about his interest in honeybees, to talk bees and beekeeping with a fellow beekeeper in our party. Chef Taylor has a genuine passion for promoting honeybee health and awareness in the community. He deliciously incorporates honey from his hives and other honeybee products in the dishes he creates. We will happily be back to enjoy more of Apis' offerings!
We loved this restaurant. The ambiance was wonderful for dinner conversation. Our server was knowledgeable. The food, both presentation and taste, was outstanding. We will go back for another special occasion.
Everything was amazing! This was our second visit to Apis. We love the ambiance of this gem of a restaurant. The meal started with a tiny cup of cucumber soup and a delicious roll complements of the chef. Next I had the egg toast as my “snack” which was SO good! For my appetizer I had the 44 farms carpaccio, then I chose the duck breast as my entree both were very flavorful. The Charleston gold rice and all the other ingredients were such a nice complement to the duck breast. My palate was so happy. The peanut and dark chocolate Napoleon and a cup of French press was the perfect ending to an amazing feast. The service is consistently outstanding! We will definitely be back!
I love the aesthetic of this restaurant. Everything about is is well considered, curated and delivered in an aesthetic fashion. The environment is lovely with the apiary theme carried out with understated consistency throughout the bar and dining area; inlays in the table tops and bar, art on the walls, even the light fixtures repeat the them of small clusters of cells in a beehive. Every part of the meal is beautiful. Our server, Asia, knew the food well and described it with the panache of a performer. The little "gifts" from the chef - cucumber dill soup at the beginning and an amazing raspberry bit at the end - were great surprises and a lovely counterpoint to our meals. A really interesting pecan miso sauce came with the steaks others at the table had. Our appetizers were, well, appetizing, clever teases that got our mouths watering for the main courses which were all we had hoped for and more. Then, the desserts ranged from a chocolate peanut butter decadence served with a bit of nasturtium (for real) sherbet. My melon based dessert was just what I wanted - light and out of this world. Really, everything was perfect.
All around a great place and we enjoyed and will be back again.
This was a true dining experience. We enjoyed the ambience, the music, the waitstaff and the food. It was worth the drive from New Braunfels and we will definitely do it again!!
Fabulous, special restaurant. The food was great. The service was as great as the food. We spent a wonderful evening.
Fantastic service, ambiance and every bite of food an adventure! My husband and I decided to go to Apis for our anniversary and it was spectacular. A special shout out to Aja who made the evening even more enjoyable with her impeccable timing, great suggestions, ideas and entertaining conversation. This is destination dining at it's best!
Great food well prepared and presented. Courses were perfectly timed with a good amount of time allowed between courses. Service was impecible with staff knowlegable about ingredients and flavors.
Only drawbacks were the seemingly confused allocation of our table presumably because we had arrived 20 minutes early. There were a few tables empty so not sure why we had to wait. Also, we found the surrounding buildings and areas messy which detracts from the overall experience. You have to walk past the garbage area from the car park and it did not smell good and was overall unsightly. There was also a lot of stuff lying around e.g. old gas cylinders, wooden crates, etc. A bit of landscaping would not go amiss. Other than these observations one cannot fault the food and the wine list is fantastic.
Great food great service. Catered to my wife’s food sensitivities. Patient with the whole exercise. Best stop in Texas.
What a surprise!! I had read about this restaurant somewhere...and we were out and about and saw this as an option on Open Table...
From the first moment we walked in to the last bite -AMAZING!!!!
The food- YEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!! I mean egg toast? That you talk about for 3 days?? Cocktails & Wine-Lovely choices available. Food-Well thought out and perfectly executed!
The ambiance-the only downside was it didn't feel like you were in a place that would serve this kind of food. The bar looked cool, bathrooms were great but, the rest almost seemed forgotten about.
The STANDOUT-the SERVICE!!!! Impeccable!!! ASIA was our server and now our new best friend!! Seriously though, you can tell she loves what she does and where she works. Amazing!!!! We mentioned that it was probably going to be a nice sunset so they arranged for us to have our dessert/coffee outside (after eating inside) We did not feel sad leaving because we KNOW we are coming back!
We have been to Apis at least 5 times. On the reservation I put that we were celebrating Mother’s Day late. The day before our reservation I was asked if we had ever been to APIs, I replied yes. Then asked if I was familiar with their Prix Fixe menu offering, again I replied yes. I was asked if we were celebrating anything special, I replied yes a late mother’s day. Upon being seated at our table I was asked again if we had ever been to Apis and then if we were familiar with their Prix Fixe menu. There was no mention of us celebrating a special occasion. I was surprised that the two questions were being asked again since on all of our previous visits with the exception of the first visit we were always greeted with thank you for dining with us again and acknowledged a special occasion if we had put that in our reservation. The rest of the service was outstanding as well as the food. I guess my expectation is higher for such a highly rated restaurant. Thank you for listening.
Exceptional gourmet option hidden in Spicewood. The menu varies daily so allow Chef Michael to guide your culinary journey. The bar includes many good spirits and wine options and the mixologist created excellent unique cocktails
I had the prix frixe and ordered the Steak. It was tasty but not very tender thus the reason for the four instead of five star rating.
Thoughtfully crafted dishes and friendly, attentive service. We loved the seafood dishes, especially the scallop appetizer and flounder entree. A wonderful spot for a special occasion meal.
