My hot tea was cold; however, the food was fantastic.
The service was really slow and the credit card machine was down causing even more delays. Our waitress was very apologetic, but didn’t flag it ahead of time we had to ask several times for an update. Also no modifications to the bill Despite poor service and delays. I’ve been before and it’s been a much better experience, but today was not great.
It was amazing! The owner came by and brought us out a sushi roll of My wife’s choice. It was an awesome Valentines Day Date!!
The drinks and service tax as good it would expect so when we were the only customers.
Restaurant was nearly empty but horrible elevator jazz music was playing loudly to a distracting level.
Bad service. Has to ask for tea refill multiple times.
lunchtime in The Loop should be catered to a faster business lunch and found both the service and, strangely, the quality of the food to be mediocre
First off, the food was fantastic! We ordered drinks and the martini glass had lipstick on it. After we called attention to it, the waitress kindly brought a new one. The chef was very nice and brought us some complimentary soup. We then ordered our food and waited 45 minutes Before seeing our waitress again. There were only 6 tables seated in the whole restaurant, so we weren’t sure where she went. Just when we were about to leave, she came out of the kitchen and said they had “temperature problems” in the kitchen. When the food finally came out, it was delicious.
Overall, the food was great. Would have loved to have ordered another drink but wasn’t able to since the waitress was MIA. Good restaurant if time is no problem.
Jimmy, the chef and owner, is such a great host. This is the second time we came to his restaurant when in town for business and we will do it again when we come back next year. We feel like home and the sushi quality is unbelievable. Thanks Jimmy for such a great experience!
Good food. It took too long for the sushi. Like the ambiance and the menu.
The food took forever, not a great theater place even though I allowed 1.5 hours. They were out of menu items, came out with the wrong cocktails. This place has been on a downward spiral and I recommend no one go there.
It was very quiet on a Tuesday evening so it is a good place for conversation. Very good food but very poor wine selection (only had one pinot noir and one merlot!)
A very authentic avian fusion restaurant in the middle of downtown Chicago. The influence and combination of Korean, Japanese and American flavors are intriguing. I highly recommend this place.
The food was delicious, but the service was terrible! We were the first table seated for lunch and waited about 20mins to get greeted by the server even through she passed our table several times. I finally had to ask the host for a service and then she was extremely rude to us the whole lunch. I will return for the food and hopefully receive better service.
Great food & cocktails. Just hard to find entrance.
Great for a business conversation. Not too aloud and good food.
Used to be a regular stop for client lunches. Very disappointing service and food. Not once did anyone come back to ask how our meal was going or if we needed anything. My guest asked to take her leftovers with her and they were inexplicably thrown out. No apologies.
They did not honor the Open Table reservation. I had to wait or sit at the bar.
AraOn is a very nice Korean/Asian fusion restaurant, very interesting dishes. And they taste really, really good, I would very much recommended the restaurant.
Food very expensive with no atmosphere-very over priced wine list-had a drink then went across street to eat elsewhere
The very best food and amazing staff! Can’t wait to go back!
Only negatives were noise and cost. But cost not out of line for downtown Chicago. Food and service were excellent and I look forward to returning!
Food, drinks and music were sub-par. Especially for this price-point. Service, however, was very good.
Great spot for sushi in downtown Chicago for lunch.
We were pleasantly surprised by AraOn. The food was amazing and we will definitely be returning.
Great food and drinks over networking lunch. Also great for team lunches. Great value for your money.
A bit too pricey.
We had reserved dinner here for 09.07.19 and were greeted warmly by an older gentleman who turned out to the chef and owner. Not only did we enjoy a wonderful meal from the duck dumplings and the tuna tartare through the pork belly ssam (best part of the meal) and beef spareribs so tender they fell off the bone to the dessert, but the owner graciously checked on us and made us feel welcome. A fabulous experience and we hope to visit again some time soon.
I eat here multiple times per month and it’s always outstanding
Decent dinner kinda dead for a Friday night.
Amazing delicious food! The duck dumplings were my favorite.
Loved the sushi platter, plus free bites from the chef! I’d say AraOn is one of the top sushi places in town.
The food and service were amazing!! Had sushi - some of the best in Chicago. Only complaint, very minor, is the décor. While it is very unique it is getting old. To greet you in the vestibule is a very worn looking couch - not a great first impression. In fact, it made us a bit leery to go inside. However, once inside the service immediately gets your attention. And, then, the food … oh the food! Absolument fantastique!!
Good waiter recommendation for Sake
Wonderful food and service - quiet Friday night
Attractive decor, good service, good sushi! We chose two sushi rolls which were delicious.
It is one of my favorite lunch stops with clients. But lately when you walk in the smell of too old oil permeates the space. That is the only turn off
Staff was friendly and efficient. Sushi was good but not great. Not busy at all on a Friday evening in the Loop, so very comfortable atmosphere.
I thought the food was average for the most part. Certainly not bad, but nothing extraordinary. The ambiance was great as the service was very good. There are certainly better Asian/Sushi restaurants in Chicago, but in the Loop, AraOn is a good choice. I would go back to AraOn.
Disappointed with the service at the hostess station. We made a reservation online and when we arrived were told there were no tables and there was an error. We ultimately got a table in the bar but the interaction was not welcoming and embarrassing in front of a group. If there was a problem with the rsvp then I should have been alerted in advance.
