We love the Springfield Austin Grill. Great food and great service every time!
We love the Springfield Austin Grill! The food is fresh and delicious and the service is outstanding!
Great food at a very reasonable price. Outdoor seating is available. Salsa and queso are must haves! Great staff and enthusiastic atmosphere!
It seemed to be only 2 waiters for the entire restaurant.
Overall the food was good. I didn’t understand the deafening rap music in a Tex Mex restaurant.
Our neighborhood go to place for Tex MEX . The outdoor tent has allowed outdoor dining with social distancing if the patio fills up . The new Fish tacos are well addition to the menu
We enjoyed our meal, and our server was excellent. My carne asada was delicious as was the tres leches cake.
The menu has changed quite a bit and there is a charge for chips and salsa which I think is not common for similar restaurants in the area. We want to support this local business but believe it needs to bring back its old menu or bring a menu that offers more items at different price points. This goes for the drink menu as well.
Great food, wonderful waitress! So glad they reopened.
We ate outside with good social distancing along with redone patio . The menu has been revised but key favorites . We all had the tacos - shrimp , fish Steak and chicken that we’re deliciously seasoned . Homemade guacamole as started was tasty as well . We are glad to have our neighborhood place open again
Great local dining go to place for family friendly dining
I along with my husband, toddler, and mother decided to grab an easy Friday night dinner here. While the food wasn’t bad (wasn’t spectacular either although our experience may have clouded our judgement), we experienced some pretty poor service from some of the wait staff. When we saw that our main courses were about to be delivered, I started gathering up the platters and plates from our appetizers (wings, queso, chips, etc) and I had them stacked in front of me to make room on the table. Those of you that have dined with a toddler know that space is limited when you’re trying to play keep away with hot plates and small hands. I lifted the plates up so that my dinner could go in front of me and the guy delivering our food just plopped everything down and looked at me sitting there holding all of the appetizer platters/plates up for him to take and just walked away! He literally left me just sitting there holding everything. I didn’t have room on the table to put them and I’m sitting there with an armful of dishes on my pregnant belly. After a couple of minutes another server who was setting up an adjacent table for a large party walked by and I politely asked him if he could take the platters/plates that I was holding and he put his hands out and refused like I was trying to hand him a dirty diaper and walked away! I ended up putting them on the empty table next to us after holding them for five minutes. Such an odd experience.
Very bland food from the salsas to the table side guac... service was sorely lacking. Won’t be going back
Even though service was attentive we were disappointed with a few of the meals. Texas chili was just okay. Black beans were bland as was rice.
always pleasant staff and great service.
Good neighborly kid friendly Tex MEX place
Great Tex MEX in the neighborhood
Our go to place for everyday casual dining with the family - Good Tex MEX food and atmosphere
We have been here many times and it is always good
The enchiladas are good. The carne asada was excellent! The tableside guacamole wasn't as good as usual, and wasn't made at the table side. I heard several other tables complaining about that fact while we were there as well.
Classic margarita was awful. Not like the Austin Grill I know. Fajitas had a meager teaspoon of guacamole. All in all the food was fair, drink were not even.
We had a great time. Restaurant was very, very loud.
Family dinner (6 of us). Got the reservation time we wanted, hostess was great when some of our party arrived late...our table was ready! Service was so-so, but it was very busy and dining room seemed understaffed. Manager visited the table. Food was good, served hot and in decent portions. Would return!
Reserving a table on line was easy and efficient. There were 7 of us and our table wasn't crowded at all. Hostess and waitstaff were friendly. Good was prepared to our liking and delicious. Best frozen margarita I'vehad in a very long time.
Service was awesome. Can't remember her name, but she basically suggested everything we ended up ordering. Super friendly, and the manager came around to check in to every table. Great place!
We went to the dinner this past weekend and encounter underwhelming tex/mex food with poor to bad service. I never try to judge a restaurant by my server experience since the hospitality industry pays slave wages and makes their workers live off tips; you never know what kind of service your going to get. The food on the other hand is entirely a different issue. We had table side guacamole and some queso to start. It took getting up and finding a server to get app plates delivered. The guac was nothing special and basic in my opinion. Having it prepared by the teenage hostess that I watched eat candy behind the host desk the entire time I was there was a bit surprising. I myself ordered the Willie Nelson taco platter. It came with 4 tacos and offered a verity which I though would be a good way to try out the new restaurant. I can not say I was impressed with any of the tacos, but that might have been because I was so unhappy with the service. To add to the point of the service, we asked the bartender to change the TV to the US men's soccer game that was going on. While in the middle of our meal the bartender changed the TV to another sport.
Would I go back to the Austin Grille located in Springfield Virginia? Not unless I knew the management has changed or I received a hefty gift card. I'll stick to On The Boarder or UncleJulios or Guapos or Chuys.
Service was superb. My meal was not cooked properly and the manager came out to apologize! It was rectified in 5 minutes.
I've always liked Austin Grill - but haven't been to the Springfield location in a while. If there is one thing you have got to get here it is their wings. Wow! They are not your typical bar wings - they are tender, flavorful, hot-off-the-grill, and straight-up delicious! In addition to the wings app, I had combo fajitas; my husband had the Willie Nelson combo tacos. All very good. Our server was busy, but he was prompt and friendly. The manager also checked in on us and spent a few minutes chatting, which made us feel very welcome. One downside: music was too loud at times.
For those that like Tex Mex in a vibrant setting of music and chatter and such, then this is your place. Austin Grill is a family favorite and we've had most of the items on the menu. There is something for everyone. And they are wonderful with families. Nothing spells "welcome" like a warmed basket of tortilla chips and mini-bowls of salsa for dipping. Oh and their desserts do not disappoint. Great way to end a meal and this upbeat review.
Average restaurant, average fair. The wings are good but was impressed with nothing on the menu.
What a mess! It took 30 minutes to have our waiter ask about drinks -- he announced he resigned that evening because of the chaos in the kitchen. We had to ask for service 3 times --- to order food and to inquire where our food was. Worst experience!
Austin Grill in Springfield has consistently good food and this was our first time for brunch but we enjoyed and will go again - going for dinner is a no brainer - LOVE IT
The evening didn't start off well - table wasn't ready for our 7:30PM reservation, buzzer didn't work and we missed our "call" when the table was finally ready, we were then sat in the very back right beside the kitchen and food didn't arrive about 45 minutes after we ordered (one salad and two enchilada entrees). Our waitress finally mentioned something to management and the General Manager stopped by. At the end of the evening, the GM apologized, comp'ed our entrees and gave us a $20 gift card. Great customer service by the GM and he helped save our night!
Austin Grill Springfield offers consistently solid service, good food at fair prices, and the portions are satisfying without being too much. We are regulars at this location and enjoy the food, service and atmosphere.
Redesigned menu has a lot more Tex-Mex food. This is a great place for folks who miss Austin and who love great brunches...best chorizo burritos and tomato and avocado omelets in town!
Austin Grill is going downhill. Grilled salmon salad used to be my favorite, but the salmon has steadily shrunk in size, while an increasing amount of iceberg lettuce fills the bowl. Open tables sat unoccupied while we waited for 40 minutes with a hungry 5 year old - appears they've cut back on staff - on a busy Friday night! Along with no longer offering their Loyalty Rewards program, this experience means we'll be choosing another place to spend our money!
If you are looking for authentic Mexican, this isn't the place. If you want a local spot with okay food, Austin Grill will fit the bill. I will probably go back one day to try a burger, ribs, or a steak - just not the Mexican food.
We have been to a few of the local Austin Grills in the Metro-DC area, but never one in a strip mall. Don't let that deter you. There was plenty of parking, unlike the Old Town Alexandria and downtown D.C. locations. We had reserved a table, but arrived 30 minutes early. We were seated right away in a "half-booth". Unfortunately, there was something of a bottle-neck in the walkway right behind my seat but it wasn't too bad. The food was standard Austin Grill quality (which means it was as consistent as the other locations). Overall, it was a good date-night decision to head to the Springfield Austin Grill for dinner.
Our waiter Jason was awesome, anticipated kids needs, refills etc and handled the confusion of 2 families & mixed menus. Food is always reliable & good, great sangria too.
Great food! Good service, Springfield is lucky to have Austin Grill!
