Have never had a bad meal there. They will make whatever you want. I ordered chicken piccata that is not on the menu. It was amazing!
First time to eat at the restaurant. We loved our meal. Service was exceptional. It was more expensive than anticipated but would go again for a special occasion. Wonderful evening!
We were Visiting San Diego for the day and read the good reviews. We made a 715 reservations and we're taking right in. The waiter was fabulous, and we took his recommendations for the meal which is quite good. Unfortunately I took his recommendations for the wine. The wine was quite Young, and really not ready to drink. To their credit, the wine sommelier did agree, but did nothing to make it right because I made a mistake of telling them we were from out of town. It is an old style Italian restaurant near Mission Bay. If you decide to go, bring your own wine or be much more selective about the recommendations.
The restaurant is 20 years overdue for interior design refurbisment. For example, Regent Cruise Line sends each of its vessels back for complete rehab every three years. The seating wass very tight. There were too many tables and the noise level was so high that we could not hear the waiter's description of the specials and could not hear each other's conversation in a party of four. There were way too many 'specials' for them not be to included on the menu and the waiter never once mentioned the prices of the specials. I never order a special without knowing the price in advance. The food was good but not memorable. Wine prices were too high. I ordered a bottle of super Tuscan for $95 that I buy at Costo for $33. A 300% mark up is way too high. Based on a disappointing dinner twenty years ago, our expectations were not high. It was better than twenty years ago, but the decor was the same, seats were too soft and uncomfortable and the experience was not good enough to justifiy a return.
We wanted a restaurant with cloth table coverings and napkins, where the tables are not too close to each other, where the noise level is a little lower, where the food is excellent, the ambiance elegant (but not snooty) and the overall experience enjoyable and on the special side. An excellent bar and a wine list worthy of the rest are also plusses. Baci nailed it. It was a special occasion and Baci was the perfect choice.
First time for lunch, and they did not disappoint. Service at dinner is top-notch, and lunch is no different. Table drinks were constantly refreshed, food was excellent. 2/4 of us had been there before, so no surprise that the newest 2 remarked they can't wait to return for another lunch there. I arrived after they were already seated so did not catch our waiter's name, but he and the "team" that takes care of you were all great.
Excellent food and service, as usual! Delicious!
Service was magnificent! Highly recommend the Sea Bass if it's available. Super flakey with crispy skin, gnocchi was light and pillowy.
We love Baci and everyone in San Diego we eat here. Highly tree recommenced.
Brought a couple who had not been to the restaurant before.
Service was great! Our server was awesome & his suggested meal choices were spot on! Best Chilean Sea Bass I’ve ever had!!
Will be stopping by every time I visit the area from Dallas & Chicago! Thank you for the great hospitality & AMAZING FOOD!!
Baci cooks the best Osso Buco in San Diego, plus their pasta and fish dishes are always excellent.
Excellent food, very authentic Italian. Back patio is beautiful.
The food was tasty. Good old school local feel. Sat on the garden patio which was had a nice ambiance.
We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner in an intimate corner with impeccable service, fabulous food, delicious cocktails and wines, and even a surprise dessert encircled with a chocolate heart. Baci is a favorite place to go for special evenings.
Birthday celebration for hubby. Maria and family always makes it a wonderful dining experience.
It was wonderful! I took my mother here for her birthday and we absolutely loved it. My mom loves Italian and I wanted to take her out to some good Italian and Baci definitely delivered. Our server was very nice and very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine selection. Everything was timed really nicely so there was no rush for our food. Excellent time, service and food, will definitely come again.
My dinner was very good! The live music was very fun and enjoyable.
Went for a romantic date while visiting the city. Gnocchi was the best ever! Veal piccata was very good. Carpaccio was excellent. Caesar salad was good and had a good wine selection by the glass. Sat inside which had a low noise level. Server was not friendly and disappeared during the meal. Unfortunately, It took forever to get the check. I would go again and try sitting on the patio.
We have been going to Baci for years and always had a terrific meal, whether it is lunch or dinner.
It was SO noisy! Very hard to hear our conversation, even though we were in the garden area. The food and service, of course, were outstanding.
As always, the food and service were outstanding. We’ve been here many times, but it was my first time trying the ricotta cheesecake (I’m usually too stuffed from the wonderful appetizers and entrees to even think about dessert!). Oh. My. Gosh. It was amazing! Our favorite restaurant in San Diego.
Just love this place. It’s my favorite in San Diego now. Great food, excellent service, just perfect. Kind of an “old school” chemistry. Headed back next week.
Tradition continues...I introduced someone to Baci for the first time, and it exceeded its already incredible reputation!
No place in San Diego compares for classic Italian food, service and atmosphere.
I look forward to returning...again and again and again!
The osso bucco is outstanding. The wine recommended was wonderful and not expensive.
Ristorante fantastico!!! Proprietari fantastici e servizio eccezionale!!
Wow. The service was great and we loved the young Italian waiter. Enjoyed the staff speaking Italian. I felt like I was in Rome. The food was amazing , we had sea urchin for the first time and it was very good. What a presentation.
The piccata salmon was so moist it melted in your mouth.
I would recommend Baci for any occasion.
The best Italian restaurant in San Diego, no question!!
greeted at the door, actually the Maitre D came outside to welcome us (we were early) showed us to the table, drink order was taken, after drink, special were given. Nice timing all evening.Nice service. Great cheesecake.
This is my VERY favorite restaurant in San Diego County!!!! I always go here for special occasions as well as to treat myself when I feel special. The service is outstanding and the food is to-die-for!!! This place is a must if you're in San Diego. I can't say enough good things about it. A+++++
Brian E was fantastic. Very attentive, without irritating us. Checked on our wine levels, then making sure our respective appetizers were to our liking, then our entrees, and finally dessert. He had several tables and was in total control of each one. The support staff made sure our water glasses were always filled and plates removed when need be. Every plate that was placed in front of us was fantastic. We have not been here in awhile and will add it back to heavy rotation. Our experience was $140 with tip, but well worth it.
Our meal selections were: Burratta wrapped in prosciutto, octopus, chicken Marsala, gnocchi, and tiramisu
service and food continue to be the best, highly recommend to all
The wait staff was great. The food was excellent. Great atmosphere of luxury dining. Will be back again.
Excellent service, excellent food, perfect place to eat-
As usual, Lou meal was spectacular! Baci’s is the BEST.
We love Baci and go there often. Wonderful food, and we are always greeted warmly. The pork chop special was outstanding!
Yes most definitely a "go to" for great Italian food that has been around for many years. Only issue is that mashed potatoes are served with entrees instead of pasta; no substituting, if you want pasta you have to pay an extra $10.
Been there before but never again. Poor service and moldy smelling bar. Pro tip — serve pasta not mashed potatoes in an Italian restaurant with chicken parmigiana. Poor showing.
A nice restaurant, especially if you can get outside in the garden in the back. Nice portions and excellent wine. A good date spot.
First time....trying for lunch. Had seen fabulous reviews. My pasta dish was OK, not remarkable. May pass on future meals here, average food at moderate prices. They did serve a superb dessert!
