   The staff were very nice and helpful. But the food was very bland and underwhelming. We took one bite of the dessert and it just wasn't for us. Lovely wine and good atmosphere, plus lovely flowers and setting. It was literally just the food that was disappointing.

   Balthazar was a really good evening. The food was very good and the staff was very friendly. Tables are tight and the noise level is high but a fun place to enjoy dinner in Covent Garden.

    Amazing French vibe, so many classic French dishes to choose from, we struggled to make a decision. Only issue is we had to leave within 1h45m which ruined the experience.

    Lovely meal, fun and buzzy atmosphere. Particular thanks to the team, who looked after my mum so well and ensured we finished well in time for curtain up at the ROH.

    Not an enjoyable experience. Starters were great, but timings all over the place. Mains arrived before starters finished. Service was weird - unforgivable to remove one diner's plate before the other has finished. Gratuity dessert didn't arrive. Won't be back.

    We usually enjoy our Balthazar experience but on this occasion the lamb dish from the set menu was inedible and all three of us could not eat it . Very disappointing and not sure how it was allowed to leave the kitchen.

    The restaurant can best be summed up as “fine”. The food itself was adequate although much better options exist in the immediate vicinity. The staff were largely disinterested with a practiced lack of eye contact and individuality. Overall, whilst perfectly fine, it was not an experience worth repeating.

    The space in between tables is very cramped. My G&T was flat - sent it back Bread basket arrived at the same time as main course - should’ve sent it back Chips were over cooked - should’ve sent them back Fish goujons were more coating than fish - should’ve sent them back. Apple tart fine was a very think soggy layer of flaky pastry - that wasn’t flaky and the caramel sauce was cold - it came out of the pourer in a lump. All in all not a great experience. Maybe it was an off night. I have been before and had really good food. Our server was so nice I couldn’t bring myself to keep sending things back.

    Arrived earlier than our booked time but thanks to Balthazar we were welcomed immediately with bar seats. Started with 12 outstanding oysters and a bottle of Viognier followed by fish stew and grilled pork chop, both delicious. Thanks to David our server who was friendly, efficient and attentive.

    Always a spectacular evening. On this occasion - daughter’s 16th birthday. Fabulous service and food. Great wine. Service team outstanding - and went extra mile to make her feel special. Consistently amazing food and service.

    Balthazar is where my husband and I elected to gather with a dear friend who we have not seen in years. What a tremendous find! The food was delicious, the service impeccable, and the ambience lovely. We had the mussels and steaks for mains and would absolutely recommend. Sauterne and a mix of heavenly deserts completed our meals. Will return to Balthazar when we visit London again.

    Balthazar is a go to every time I come to London. I love the atmosphere and the food is good but some of the new tweaks to the menu leave me flat. The escargot on the mashed potatoes is not welcome at all. The mash is a distracting texture for a dish that should be simply snails, garlic and butter. It was also disappointing that the veal schnitzel has been taken off the menu. It was always perfect and something I looked forwad to. On the upside, the turbot meunière was fabulous and a nice change from dover sole. The oysters were fresh and flavorful and the presentation with two bottles of Tabasco sauce was a nice detail. To end, the peach soufflé was delightful.

    The food served was of good quality and presented well. However the service was somewhat rushed and the lighting very dark. Had to use the touch on my phone to read the menu, as did other diners. The opening greeting was to inform us that we had to vacate our table after 90 minutes, not mentioned when making a reservation. Before we had both sat at the table a waitress was asking for a drinks order and we had to request a break between courses. When the waitress arrived with the bill she stood behind me with the card machine in her hand for payment and as soon as I had paid a 'maitre d' type person came over and started to clear our table even though we still had drinks to finish and were still within our timeframe. He got somewhat offended when I suggested he wait until we had vacated the table.

    On the whole, a pleasant pre-theatre dinner. reasonable value and good (not terrific) food. Service is variable. Slow initially particularly with aperitives although after the initial slow start, the service improved with the arrival of the course. Avoid the souffle. Its reheated and the centre can be cold. Otherwise good atmosphere friendly staff and nice interior with a good buzz without being too noisy.

    The two top tables need to be a lot bigger. Several diners around us also complained that it was uncomfortable to eat on a wee table with entrees, a bottle of wine, bottle of water and a basket of bread. The table is maybe, at best 2’x2’. I was on edge throughout the meal anticipating that a drink would be flung on my new coat. Either provide diners with a rain poncho, or bigger tables.
