Delicious food, pretty drinks!!
Super extensive menu offerings with very good service, although we ordered too much food. It was quite noisy on a busy Friday night.
Excellent quality foo but too pricey. Table for two is too tiny for food spread and too close to one another for privacy.
Banbu Sushi is the only place we trust to have fresh and high quality sushi. Of course this is our favorite restaurant. We feel confident in recommending this place to friends. Although you may find menu is $$$, the experience is worth the expense. Don't hesitate to try the sashimi. YUM!!!
Since most people don’t appreciate great sushi, they’d like the noise, the happy hour, the patio and the bar. Sure, I recommend it.
This place used to be much better quality and it also wasn’t as expensive. Not worth it anymore
Put into the back room. Dreary and cold.
Banbu is the best! Thank you for taking care of our family!
Awesome food and service as usual!!
Food came out in two groups about 10-15 minutes apart which left two of us eating ramen while the others waited for their rolls.
It was excellent
What can you say about Banbu Sushi- consitently good, great, helpful staff, great quality, value for money
Best sushi in San Diego!! The service is always friendly and on point!
Very pleasant experience
Anniversary Dinner! Our first time there and we loved it!
Always my favorite but is super expensive!!
We had the best time ever. It was for a 65th birthday party with family and also little ones. They put us in a room by ourselves. It was just perfect.
Banbu is the rockstar of sushi! Try the lemon cilantro roll or the seared jalapeño ahi roll you won’t be disappointed. For a bonus try the sweet chili prawns on the appetizer menu. Favorites Yummm!
Great food, great service and great times. Keep it up Banbu!
Unfortunately the food was not good! We ordered some sushi and a special jalapeño hamachi roll, it was $23.50 and it was horrible, no taste and it didn’t have fresh shrimp, it looked like a fried fish stick in the middle. Waited 15 minutes for the sushi and then we cancelled the order because we didn’t want to wait any longer. $5 each for a bowl of rice. $5 for a Diet Coke and then there we were charged for something we didn’t order. Had to wait another 10 minutes to get the charge taken off and to get the new check. We won’t be going back!
The kitchen has alot of work to do to get back to the level of food they use to serve. The fish was chewy and raw, after we sent it back, they did not heat up the side dish. The salad was served to another person on the table came not only 3 minutes after the main course had been already served but without the dressing and after about 6 minutes trying to flag down a waiter, we were told "ups they forgot"
The waitress charged us regular price for items that should have been the happy hour rate, when i tried to explain it she was not understanding, sent an email to the establishment with no response.
Love this place. Food is good and the service is great!
Great food, great service. Been coming here for years and still love it.
One of the best places in La Mesa, extensive menu, but inconsistent. Servers are very nice, but seem to busy, our table was left unattended for long periods of time. The Service was good, just not enough attention.
One of our favorite date night spots
The restaurant was so understanding when we showed up a little late to our reservation. The food was amazing and the ambiance was so nice! I definitely recommend this place to everyone. their happy hour was also on point!
Great food, service and times. We love Banbu! Sit on the patio it’s the best!
This was dinner before Homecoming dance. It was great!
I have never seen a miso soup at 6$ or sushi rolls 25$, that's crazy. Ford was tasty but the value is not there.
We recently went there for our first time. The recommendation was only luke warm so expectations we not high. Perhaps it was where we were sitting but it was not a relaxing experience at all and we waited an extra long time for some routine orders. I wouldn’t go back and it’s a shame because it’s walking distance from my home. Sorry Banbu I wanted to like you....
It was my daughters' birthday. Everything was outstanding. The food, service & atmosphere was all very nice. I had the Tangerine Chicken and the Jalapeno Poppers and the presentation and flavor was very good.
One suggestion would be to ring the outside of the dish with a few tangerine slices or Mandarin oranges. I think that would really set it off.
We love this place!!!! One of our absolute favorite restaurants. It is amazing all around!
As someone who rarely craves sushi, I usually go months between investigating or asking around about friends’ go-to sushi spots. Needless to say, the craving hit recently and Banbu came up in conversation more than twice when asking around.
Excited to try, I made an 8:00PM reservation for two on a Thursday night. We got to the restaurant a few minutes early and was told the previous party was still seated (“they’ve settled, but are STILL seated” said with a weird compassionate-annoyed tone). Never saw a party leave (as they had us sit right by the door), but we’re finally seated around 8:15.
Service was lackluster. We saw our waitress the bare minimum when dealing with a table (not a comment on her- she was very sweet, knowledgeable about the menu, but may have been overwhelmed with other parties and tables). We were trying to settle our bill- card was ready in the holder, but waited about 10 minutes before *different* server who was walking by took it for us.
Food was good! The specialty roll list is insane and expansive! We definitely ate our fill and enjoyed what we ordered.
Not sure we’ll be back- but thanks for the memories!
Outside seating was enjoyable; vegetation screens the traffic. Our table took advantage of the broad menu with both sushi and entree selections, including tempura and noodle dishes. Sushi selection include sashimi, nigiri, and nearly 100 roll selections, some with a Baja flare.
Expensive for value, but unique. Adults and kids enjoy. Very friendly and competent staff.
Our families go to spot. They are so great with the kids. Thanks Banbu.
Unfortunately the worst service I have ever had there. Had to waive the waitress down for each order. Waited 30+ mins for our drinks after asking 3 times for them. Not a busy day in the restaurant and unacceptable service.
When we’re in La Mesa this is our go to sushi place. Great food and staff. Give it a try!
