Excellent fresh, seasonal food. Best service we’ve had in a long time. A must.
Unique and local-inspired and sourced food. Great service. One of our favorites.
Our favorite restaurant in Santa Barbara. The service is superb and the food exceptional. A true central coast experience.
Delicious as always!
I had a reservation for my birthday before Christmas and it was cancelled due to omicron concerns. We could have booked somewhere else, but I’m a fan of Barbareno and I chose to wait. It was worth it! They are open again and it couldn’t have been more lovely. Food was perfect: Fairview greens, lavender and lemon ravioli, and the unmatchable barbareno burger. All paired with a perfect wine recommended by the very informative waiter. Dessert was even better: Cookies and Milk, an exceptional dessert of gingerbread ice cream with bourbon caramel, peppermint cream, and fresh mint leaves. Truly an amazing, delicious experience. Seating was outside, warmed by heat lamps, safely distant from other patrons. Highly recommend for a special occasion!
The food is incredible. Very creative dishes using fresh seasonal fruit and veggies. I love that they have a one or two new dishes each time I go. Servers are knowledgeable and friendly with good recommendations. The outdoor seating has plenty of heaters (I get cold very easily and I was comfortable outside at an 8pm dinner). 10/10 recommend.
It was an outstanding meal. First time we've been here. Definitely will be coming back many times
Really enjoyed the lamb flatbread and grilled avocado! Really excellent dishes.
The eggamuffin was very salty though, even without prosciutto on top. Our humble opinion is the egg cheese cream could go with very little salt as the prosciutto has lots of it and the corn bread is already a small bite.
Was surprised with the acorn tagliatelle, we were expecting more of a pasta dish, it seemed more similar to an udon. The mushrooms has very nice flavor.
The staff was amazing and we loved our waitress. The foods was prepared well and had beautiful presentation but the flavors weren’t balanced. I guess based on previous reviews, I was more hopeful for better tasting food.
Incredible food and nice California style decor
The smells, the light, the sounds, the service, and most of all the tastes that come from this amazing eatery are simply astounding. Everything is delicious, everything.
It was very chilly out. It was hard to get warm. The doors were open. We had the lettuces and the beet tartar as appetizers and they were both delicious. I had the acorn tagliatelle in an oak broth. Light but filling and flavorful. My partner had Santa Maria bbq and he loved it. It was a dry rubbed wagyu tri tip. It wasn't overly saucy. We shared the Brussels sprouts which were as good as I have ever had. Our dinner was a little late coming out possibly because I had mine without any garlic. Because it was delayed they gave us a free dessert. We ordered a new take on an apple crumble. It was deconstructed, messy and heavenly. I would recommend this restaurant to adventurous people especially.
We absolutely loved our dinner! Our waiter, Mitchell, was wonderful; helpful, friendly, and prompt with service. We had a salad appetizer, the buttermilk chicken, and the apple crisp for dessert. Everything was prepared with complex flavors throughout, and a beautiful presentation. The chicken was melt in your mouth tender with a crispy outside. We had the animal potatoes which were great. We ate outside and that was very pleasant with the outdoor heaters. The highlight of our weekend in Santa Barbara!!
Fairview Lettuces, amazing. Plate of Pork, outstanding. 24 Blackbirds, a unique chocolate lovers' heaven. Service, informative and attentive to detail. Successfully delivers website marketing.
We loved this restaurant! Dishes were unique and delicious. The brussels sprouts were so tasty, although we wished that the waiter would have suggested splitting one order. The ravioli filling was delicious but the dough was a little tough but I'd order them again. Try the Especial appetizer -we loved it. Santa Maria barbecue was great but a huge order. Baked California was amazing, the meringue perfect but we wished the same freedom had been a little softer- .
Best dinner I’ve had in Santa Barbara. Aside from the amazing dishes, also the best service in town. Could not recommend more!
A bad night. In all sincerity the food was inedible. My daughter sent back her first course and I sent back my entree. In our estimation, the menu was a failure. The wrong combination of ingredients and the failure if the cuisine. Really bad food masquerading as what...cutting edge?
The big bright note was the service. An excellent cheerful waiter, who was surprised but gracious about the food being sent back. And the absolutely perfect maitre d’ who did the right thing. He earnestly apologized and comped our meal.
Truly, our confidence was so low and the desserts read like mistakes on the menu, that we opted for hot fudge sundaes at our hotel. So the evening was declared a success!
Our rating? Food - 0, Service 10
Enjoyable evening! Delicious food with attentive service.
Server was fantastic food was epic. Elevated central coast classics. Sea bass was amazing! Desserts were all well received and unique! Service was excellent
We had a 6:15 res but arrived early. No problem! We had 3 amazing meals and everyone from the host to the waitress had full knowledge of the menu. We had great service. Would highly recommend.
They food presentation was excellent ! The taste was amazing and. Collin the waiter was outstanding !
This was our first visit. We were wow'ed by the knowledgable and friendly service and creative food.
Service, Food and Ambiance we're all outstanding. We will be back, hopefully sooner than later!
We’ve eaten here many times. Consistently good in all phases. Great quality ingredients with lots of emphasis on local organic vegetables . They need to put the 420 baked California dessert back on the menu
A superb restaurant for any and all occasions- locally sourced ingredients and wonderful preparation makes all perfect
My favorite restaurant!
We had a fabulous meal at Barbareno! Start to finish everything was amazing. And the staff couldn’t be more attentive and knowledgeable. We were in SB doing wedding planning and are here at the recommendation of our planner. We will DEFINITELY put this on our Rec list for our wedding guests!
Barbareno is one of the top culinary stars of Santa Barbara, but it also has a special spirit of hospitality that stands out. Don't miss the Santa Maria bbq plate if your an omnivore. We also consistently love the starter salad and any and all of the beautiful desserts. The dessert wine flight is also a treat! Our server was the best, and we had such a great night celebrating here. Can't wait to return!
Amazing food and service.
It's good. Service was a little uneven, but nothing terrible. The meat entrees and salad were good. Menu is a little limited and execution is pretty good, but not great.
The tri-tip is one of my top dishes of all time. I try to go as often as the menu updates to try what's new!
Our first time here to this hidden gem ; kuddos to the chef for these amazing flavor combinations. We opted for vegan choices and were very happy with the flavors and care of the chef as well as our server. Our suggestion would be to add more because we would love to come back many times and experience the skill of the person responsible for such creations which honor local food sourcing, in season purchasing and food design reflective of our Santa Barbara region.
Really amazing food. Acorn tagliatelle, animal potatoes and panzenella. Highly recommend. Great service and they loved our dog. Def going back!
very unique but VERY delicious. All local food and drinks. Each meal is carefully crafted with special local herbs...it was very good.
Neighborhood gem. Menu changes monthly with seasonal produce. Interesting menu with tasty items. Cozy. Moderate wine list. Not overpriced by Santa Barbara standards! Had the Oprah which was fine and my wife had the Acorn dish which was very good.
The food was delicious and the staff was knowledgeable and well-trained, however, the Santa Maria BBQ, while delicious, wasn't really Santa Maria BBQ, and the serving of ravioli was really, really tiny. I would give it a five star --- except that it was so very expensive that I really just can't. I'd go back for the food once I get really, really rich. I also think there might have been one bottle of deep red wine for less than $42. But, hey, that's just me. I must add that the 'fried chicken' was not too expensive and was really moist and delicious.
It would be hard to find food in Santa Barbara more delicious than this. And the wait staff is superb. As wonderful as everything sounds on the menu, it is even better when it arrives on your plate. Can't wait to go back.
The food was very good with excellent preparation. The service was impeccable - we are very happy with our experience and will return soon.
The noise level rating is for outdoor seating, which we requested. The traffic noise is present, but totally understandable. This is a note for diners, not a complaint.
Hadn't been for a while. Sat outside and it was lovely! Beautiful lights strung through the trees. A great atmosphere to go along with the wonderful food. Two thumbs way up for the pork chop!
My second time to Barbareño. Man, the food is fabulous. Make sure you order the charred avocado. Service was lovely and not pretentious. Nice outdoor seating options for the covid conscious. Really love this restaurant.
