I understand distancing with the whole pandemic, however having the chefs back to us while he cooked made no sense when he would glhave cooked facing us and still maintained his distance. Also it was messy having him bring the food to our plates rather than takr the plates and placing the food on them and handing it to us. I understand this is a all a learning process again due yo where we are at in the world so just some feedback to help smooth the transition
I always love dining at Benihana but this time the food was exceptionally delicious. The staff was attentive. We were seated quickly.
Due to COVID they are seating every other table now and having the chef cook on the table next to where you are sitting. He cooks with his back to you and you no longer get to watch him cook for you!
It is so much different and it was disappointing. We went there the first night they re-opened and they were cooking regular i miss it. Im not sure why they changed unless as a precaution to the chefs
Can't wait for things to return to "normal"
Our waiter Ruben was awesome! He kept our drinks filled and checked up on us frequently to make sure we had what we needed
We enjoyed dinner and found the food to be delicious
went for birthday myself and son whos 17 they put us in the backroom reserved i think for small children and babies what we got was 1 adult and 6 preteen girls with no manners jumping around practicing cheer moves getting up to eat off each others plates it was so bad i didnt even stay for birthday dessert or photo i wish they would of ask if we minded sitting with such a unruly group
Food is delicious
Made a reservation for 7:30, arrived at 7:25. Was told we would be “checked in soon”, and then sat for 20 minutes.
The whole experience of Benihana is to have your meal prepared in front of you. I understand that the new Coronavirus restrictions were to blame, but the chef was literally at the next table over from us, cooking the food with his back to us! If I had known this, I never would have made the reservation at all. Very much of a disappointment.
Had reservations and arrived 15 minutes early but was seated within 5 minutes. The food was excellent as always at the Encino location. The only bad thing was they could not prepare your meal at your table but I understand it was for my own safety. With the virus we can't be over safe. Excellent service. 😊
Our reservation was 945 didn’t get seated till almost 20 minutes later. Then our server took our order promptly but we didn’t eat till 1045. That’s a whole hour later from our reservation & mind you the restaurant closes at 10. I understand there’s new protocols due to COVID but if they’re still adjusting then they shouldn’t continue to take that many reservations or reservations 15 mins before the restaurant closes. Our food was so rushed because of how long it took them. If you’ve been here you know the fried rice is everything. & i eve always normally order double so that i can have some to go. Well our rice came out so mushy and tasteless, i don’t think anyone at our table ate it. Our veggies weren’t cooked all the way, some were hard. & i felt bad for our cook because he was trying his best but we were just all tired of waiting at that point. At the end of the night when our bill came , because everyone at our table got double fried rice i explained that i wasn’t going to pay for the additional rice we ordered , since it was handed to everyone with out being ordered. The manager ended up giving us the rice off but we explained how they should let customers know about the wait or explain better when reservations are made. I was excited for my first meal out of quarantine but i think I’ll continue to wait before stepping out again.
Because of the pandemic there was no interaction with the chef. Literally came to the restaurant to watch the chef cook with his back to us, at a different table.
It was a wonderful time out and they did a wonderful job considering they had to take into consideration social distancing. The food was as wonderful as we remembered.

It was a little disappointed because they don’t cook the food right i front of you like the used to they used the table across and the Chef has his back towards you he did try to make the best of it and the service was good .
This was our first dinning experience post covid closures. We went out to celebrate my dad for Father’s Day and we love Benihana because they cook in front of us and put on a small show. However we were not told that because of covid the chefs are not cooking in front of you. They have their back to you and are cooking at the next grill over. No interaction with the chef or get to see the cool tricks he did. Which in our case our chef didn’t really do anything. Food was cooked well but I will not go back until they are back to cooking in front of us. So if you are going to Benihana just be aware that it’s a different experience.
I was a little nervous about my first outing at a restaurant but let me tell you that Benihana did a wonderful job distancing people. Definitely recommend you go dine in if you’re on the fence. The food was delicious, the service was excellent.
First time eating there again after quarantine due to Covid-19. I was very pleased with all the extra precautions our chef and everyone at the restaurant took. I felt save eating there with my children and husband.
Staff would forget what we asked for our food came out at very different times by the time the other persons food came out mines was cold the air conditioner was on full blast

Not a good experience for us, food was salty, our waiter was great . But there is no way I would spend my money there again at this location
The food was excellent, and the server was very attentive. The cook remembered all the weird requests we made, and it was excellent. There was very little wait time.
Celebrated my girl’s birthday. The staff was great. Everyone had a great time.
Service was extremely slow, we spent more time waiting than eating. Food quality is very low, for side veggies we got an onion with a couple pieces of zucchini. It’s not worth the price, it was terrible.
I did not enjoy this visit to Benihana at all. This was my second time dining at the Encino location and both times were terrible. Although I made a reservation, I was made to stand outside in the driveway, along with other guests. Which wasn’t very safe by the way. I was made to wait for a long time because the hostess wanted to wait for other guests to come before seating me, even though I wasn’t with the other guests and had nothing to do with what time they would or would not arrive. After waiting in the driveway for a long time, with cars driving in especially the shrimp appetizer. I was there for my birthday & used my $30 certificate for and entree to go, and also paid for the food that I ate while dining in. The to-go portions & container of food I received looked equivalent to what a child would have. I definitely do not feel as though I got my money’s worth with the experience or the food. This was my first time out since the COVID-19 pandemic & I was there to celebrate my birthday. It was a bad idea to go to this location. I much rather have gone to the Santa Monica location, or Las Vegas.
was disappointed that they cooked like 15 ft way. I came to bring my 4 yr daughter for her birthday, so she could have the experience and we could barely see the table where they were cooking.
we also waited for 7 mins at the table before they came and took our drink orders, (there were only like 6 tables)
thats when they told us we wouldnt get the cooking in front of us.
we would of just waited another day instead of going that day, as a single mom, its hard $ wise, and i wish the experience would have been full.
The manager was very rude, the food was not very good they brought us the wrong orders , and it is very overpriced. That was my first and last time going to Benihana’s. I can get better food down the street at Ping Pong restaurant
Very enjoyable experience for my sons high school graduation celebration. Looking forward to our next celebration at Benihana.
AWFUL. Usually we love it, but it was terrible and the staff was extremely rude
They cooked the food at opposite tables. They kept every precaution they possibly could have.
Please make sure your cooks are serving the meal warm on the plate my scallops were very cold i did not eat them the cook had all the dishes next to him when he was done with everything cooking thats when he gave it to us thats why the food was more cold.
Food was great! Chef was great! Waitress was great! However, the hostess working the desk was very rude. They were running behind on reservations and we waited outside for 40 minutes. When I checked in three times to see when we would be seated she would walk away to avoid having to speak to me. After she walked away another hostess would see me and come to attend me.
I understand that things happen and they were behind. It doesn’t give them the right to be rude towards customers.

This time felt that the cooking was very rushed and things were not cooked well.
All food seemed to lack any seasoning scallops completely flavorless and shrimp overcooked. Even the fried rice was bland.
I had an iced tea that must have been sitting for so long that I had to mix in 3 glasses of water to be able to even see through it.
I am hoping these things happened because of the current situation as I hope this is not the new norm. We had not been out for a meal due to the lockdown for 4 months and were overall very disappointed.
Everything was good but they should put in the site that the chefs don’t cook at the table. They cook at the table across from our table.
It would be nice if they would inform you that you won’t get the whole dine in experience, meaning they won’t be cooking in front of you, or that if you make a reservation you will still have to wait 40 min to get seated, that defeated the purpose of a reservation.
Cancelled my appointment
I had reserved a table for 8, 2-3 weeks prior to the actual date. Everything was set, I had people over and were getting ready to leave when I received a call, 3 hours before the reservation.
It was the worst, trying to scramble and find a place that would seat a party of 8 with such short notice.
It’s unfortunate seeing it was going to be my very first time at Benihana’s. Such a horrible first impression. Definitely didn’t meet up to
