Lovely lunch with our kids, and a fantastically entertaining chef!
We have been many times before and always felt that Benihana was something special. This time however, it felt more like Nando's. It was full of young, noisy people who did not like or appreciate the food. They all seemed
to be there for the meal deal and cocktail. The waiting staff were not very attentive; leaving dirty dishes, never refilling our water or wine. On the contrary, a big thumbs up to Charlie our chef who was brilliant, putting on a fantastic show with loads of skill and humour; he even took to refilling our water and wine himself. So, overall we understand it's hard times but maybe don't mix meal deal customers with full paying ones as we certainly won't be back for a while even with Charlie cooking!
Fabulous food and amazing Chef. Really great atmosphere. Shame both glasses of champagne were only half full but overall a really great night.
Went for my sister birthday it was good enjoyed the food.
A bit pricey for the quantity but food was really nice and the experience of having a chef cooking for you is always something you appreciate
Over priced, but good sushi 🍣 food was flavourless just fun to watch
Perhaps a little on the pricey side for some budgets but worth it for the entertainment. The service was fantastic, the waiter was so attentive. The chefs do a wonderful performance every time. The Merlot they serve is delicious and too drinkable. Food is excellent. Only downside is that your clothes do absorb the scent of cooking so dinner option is better.
Our visit to Benihana was very nice but not really the very special occasion we were hoping for - we went for my sons 21st birthday celebration. The food is really good, quality ingredients very well cooked right their in front of you so there is no complaint at all on that front. But the general service and general ambiance did not match up to the quality of the food, given that this is a fairly expensive place to eat for most families. A big plus however was that restaurant did bring out a little cake (I had noted the birthday when booking) and the staff led a chorus of happy birthday for my son which was lovely.
In terms of the general service /ambiance: When we arrived we had to wait in the bar area for about ten minutes whilst our table was readied. No problem with that but no one asked if we wanted a drink whilst we waited. Once at our table the service was ok but nowhere near as attentive as I think it’s reasonable to expect when you are paying £100 per head even without very much alcohol. We were also disappointment that our chef did little in terms of a “show” whilst preparing our food and of course that is usually one of the real highlights at a teppanyaki restaurant. One of the other chefs in the room was doing various tricks for his table but the majority, including ours, were pretty disappointing vs other similar places I have been. As above the cake and singing at the end was a nice touch for which I thank the restaurant.
So overall, I would conclude very good food, but must try harder in terms of attention and the “show”. Overall I’m not convinced I would visit again, based on what I experienced I think there are many other places where for a similar spend you leave with much more sense of having enjoyed something really special.
Overall service was amazing, nothing at all bad to say about it. Looking forward to the next visit
Chef was lovely, food was horrible bill came to £120 and I didn’t eat any of it. Rice hard and chicken not seasoned
I was told during my last visit that the chicken was halal and now it’s not which annoyed me very much as it limited my choices as well as the fact that my meal was supposed to come onion soup and I had to miso soup because the onion soup is not halal either and the main reason I come to Benihana’s is for the onion soup I am outraged
Really good tasting food and a price I was happy to pay
It was fun but very over priced and a bit grubby. Service was hit and miss, waiter was great hostess who took us to our table was rude.
Great service - wonderful food and atmosphere - good value during weekdays lunchtime. We loved the experience and meal and will go back.
The food was dry, didn’t receive a drink I ordered
Had a fabulous evening. Our chef, Luke was amazing and made it even better.
Very entertaining for a family with teenagers, good food, a bit expensive but manageable as a treat once in a while and overall good value for money
Food was overrated a tad but the experience surely makes up for it!
First timers, came highly recommended, did not disappoint, civic safe environment, nice atmosphere, amazing service, lovely food, great experience, will definitely be going back
Lovely watching your food be cooked and making a performance out of it. My kids loved it.
Very funny place, good food for a very a affordable price, sushi was great as a starter
Very nice food, our chef was really nice not too over the top but very entertaining. Cocktails were lovely too and the atmosphere was great, will definitely be returning.
Very average food for the money
Standard restaurant good food And entertainment but little pricy
Birthday treat - great fun and theatre enjoyed by all
The experience was really fun and all the meat was high quality and tender. Great service and very clean.
Amazing food,service and company
First time dining here and would definitely recommend it was a very good experience the staff were amazing!
The chef was amazing and the food was delicious! I would definitely recommend for a special occasion.
My first time and my birthday both AMAZING
It was amazing! Definitely coming back soon!
I had a amazing birthday, the food
Was great as well as the service which really made a difference.
Dining out is all about the overall experience. Not only was the food excellent (shogun’s feast and seafood palace), the preparation and presentation by the master of ceremony and our Teppanyaki chef Charlie was just right and brought a smile to all the table guests.
A word of advice - do not dress to warmly as the grill will warm you quickly and throughout.
We had a fantastic evening at Benihana’s, the chefs were amazing, very entertaining ! The food was tasty but actually, for the amount of food you get, quite expensive. I would definitely recommend it as an experience but personally now I’ve been there and experienced the showmanship and theatrical way the food is cooked, I wouldn’t rush back. I would spend the money in a different Japanese restaurant. (We were 2 adults and 2 kids, my husband and I only had 2 drinks each and the whole bill came to £230! I know London is expensive but this was really expensive!)
Warm welcoming, great service and hospitality.
The food was amazing. A big thank you to our Chef Charlie who made the experience fantastic!
Chefs create a really fun experience and you get entertainment aswell as delicious food. We had a fab time and are already thinking about when we are going to return
