I took a friend here for lunch to celebrate her Birthday. It was a delight - we both had the cod special which was delicious and beautifully displayed on the plates! In addition was a special dessert (chocolate soufflé/mousse). Wonderful.
Meal was not very good. Expected much better from a restaurant with such great reputation.
Bernard's offered a wonderful meal during restaurant week at an unbelievably low price. What a value!
Actually, our dinner was at Sarah's Wine Bar. Its brasserie-like decor and menu complement each other; on this Friday evening, music was provided by a guitarist/singer, for a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Table was not desirable as we were pushed up against a wall and felt like we were in the servers area. On line ‘restaurant week’ price was not what was charged. We paid over $40 per person. Food was excellent. We have been to this restaurant before and truly loved it. This time not so much.
Generous portions yet not over bearing. The butternut squash soup was amazing. A rare find on this side of the pond - it’s the way restaurants were and ought to be like. Food cooked and served with love.
Loved our meal. The endive salad was delicious as well as the gnocchi!
Everything was perfect including the atmosphere, the food, the service and the table by the fireplace.
The food was wonderful, the service great, the only thing I was not happy with was being served leftovers from Saturday evening. When the waiter tells you at noon that there are only two orders of the lamb available, I think it's safe to assume that one is being served left overs! Not cool!
It is just right for a special occasion . We just ordered entrees and shared a dessert. They were good sized portions. I brought home leftovers.
Bernard's presents itself as a fine dining establishment. Presenting yourself as a premier restaurant comes with great expectations. Not all expectations were fulfilled. The food is very good. The service is adequate. I sensed a lot of negative vibes coming from the staff. Not sure why many of them seem miserable but in my experience attitude reflects leadership. Try smiling ever once in awhile and if you don't
like your job quit. I thought the decor is charming. Not blown away with Bernard's but I do think overall it's a good restaurant and would recommend giving them a visit.
Top-notch establishment whose dishes are brilliant with creativity. The dining area is comfortable and even has a live piano player. The service staff is exceptional and attentive to all your needs.
Bernard's is a lovely old world French restaurant that has stayed current with excellent cuisine and ambiance. It's a wonderful place for a special occasion or just a perfect dinner anytime. We will be back!
The only issue was the restaurant dining area was cold due the weather being very cold but the curtains they hung to counter this was not very helpful. They need longer and heavier curtains to counter this as multiple rooms in the main area were all affected by this.
Went for Valentine’s Day. Food was as usual incredible. Ambiance is perfect. Our server, Nicola was professional, polite, and knowledgeable.
The whole experience was outstanding. Can’t wait to go back
We have been to Bernard’s many times. The food and service are usually excellent. This time the food was great but we had to wait for our food a long time. It took forever in between courses. This was not our waiter’s fault. I think the kitchen was not prepared for the amount of people they had that night. It was Valentine’s Day.
Outstanding Service, Food Presentation, Ambiance.
One Of the Elite Culinary Experiences hands down.
Perfect Valentine's dinner! Excellent food & ambiance. We'll be back, but then the folks at Bernard's know that about us.
Wonderful restaurant with great food and service and a relaxed and attractive ambiance. Our favorite place for special occasions.
We found Bernards just looking for a different place to check out and we found a place we MUST return to. The service was excellent and food delicious!
Service was subpar
First rate, elegant fine dining in a lovely country inn ambiance.
"I like the pompous feel of this place – formal dining room. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The potato-leek soup was amazing and the Bibb lettuce salad was refreshing. The table was split on the monkfish – one person thought it was great, but another felt that the tastes didn't quite mesh. Everyone loved the flat iron steak. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
We have spent perhaps the last 13 years at Bernarnd's on New Year's "Eve. The food , service and sensitivity of Sarah and her staff are terrific. It is always a winner.
Will go back!
The food and presentation were very good. We did the tasting menu to give us the opportunity to sample a wider portion of their menu. The lobster risotto I though was their best dish of the evening. As an extra we ordered the appraiser portion of the linguini with fresh shaved truffles. As a comparison of tasting this menu item in some very upscale restaurants in nyc, i thought the pasta was overcooked and had a very salty flavor. For the price the portion was too small. While I thought the wait staff was very nice, it was clear that if I had one complaint this would be it. The service in my opinion was not to scale to the cost of the meal experience. Too many mistakes and missed q’s were made. Again only complaining because of the setting the Resturant creates as very upscale eating environment. For what I am paying I expected a bit more refinement within the wait service.
We've been to Bernard's for Christmas Eve for the last 4 years. Despite the pricey $95pp prix fixe menu, we all look forward to it as a special treat. 3 courses: Lobster Risotto to start, or Oysters, or salad, fresh bread, then Beef Wellington (that is like butter), or Duck or Venison, everyone had something special. Desert is a selection of 3 items - creme brulee, buche de noel, sorbet. Delicious. Great service, a gracious atmosphere with quiet piano and white linen. It's a joy.
Excellent food and wine, good service. Lovely setting.
Thoroughly enjoyed the jazz performance with our dinner. Wonderful entertainment and delicious food, as always. Totally recommend Bernards!
Great Sunday Brunch. Perfect gathering with friends this Christmas season
Had a lovely birthday dinner this past weekend at Bernard’s. The ambiance was wonderful. Particularly loved the piano player playing throughout our meal. Our dinner was absolutely delicious and the service was top notch. Really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely return.
Especially impressed by the ambience and the service, which was attentive, thoughtful and professional. I really appreciated the quiet elegance of the space and how dishes appeared and disappeared without a fuss.
Wonderful birthday dinner for my husband. Delicious everything
Went for lunch. We were the first to arrive and it was perfect. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious. I ordered a special. I asked if they could add goat cheese and without hesitation, he said “of course”. It was the quinoa and farro salad with grilled chicken and IT WAS TO DIE FOR!! It should be on their permanent menu! Will be back!
Such a lovely restaurant! Service was warm and friendly. Food was wonderful. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you!
Excellent food and service during a very enjoyable Tuesday night dinner with my wife. Highly recommended!
Great food , outstanding service.
Bernard's would have received 5 stars, but for confusion in the kitchen. A half-dozen oysters were served with only 4. And my guest, who also ordered a half dozen oysters, was served with 5 1/2 (yes, there was either a half oyster in one of the shells, or something happened to the critter on the way from the kitchen). But, excellent service and honest apologies put the issue to rest. I've dined at Bernard's previously, and I'm happy to say, the food continues to be excellent. Wine list is extensive and reasonably priced. And an added treat on Saturday evening is a pianist playing the "standards." Great place and highly recommended.
Bernards was our first choice for enjoying a casually elegant dinner for our Thanksgiving holiday. The restaurant does an amazing job serving so many guests, they are real pros. Decorations were inviting and attractive. Our meal was perfect … entirely delicious. Our server was friendly and very efficient. Bernard's is a special place and we feel fortunate to have enjoyed our holiday meal at this wonderful restaurant.
Special drive up to see Alexis Cole at SWB. Divine cuisine and service. Loved my Bronzino and still dreaming about the chocolate sampler for dessert!
