romaine lettuce, shaved parmesan cheese, focaccia croutons
Shrimp Two Ways
flash-fried saltine-crusted & buttery grilled
four 4-oz claw crabcakes, mashed potatoes, fresh vegetables (gf option)
Really good quality, nice menu, seafood+. Nothing super innovative, but all very solid, delicious, and with a good wine and beer list to boot. Great Shecrab soup, and really excellent crab cake (all crab, no filler).
We are from the coastal southeast county of NC and have had some very good seafood there, however this was GREAT SEAFOOD! Will give it another visit next trip to Williamsburg.
Excellent experience with wonderful outdoor seating that felt very safe. The live music was such a pleasure and the food was amazing!
There was lots of outdoor seating options, and they had a great and well-organized system down to handle overflow and covid-safe dining and seating. They had our favorite Virginia beer on tap!!! Food was wonderful.
I know with Covid it is difficult for restaurants to keep up with fresh food and new recipes...I am just happy they are trying to stay open and to keep their staff working.
I always enjoy eating at Beret’s and will go again .
The food and the fish we both had was over cooked and I presumed it was not as fresh and was probably previously frozen. But I understand ...
Absolutely delicious. We go to Berrets every time we go to Williamsburg for the best meal in town. I loved the gluten free crab cake which is very hard to find. We ate too much but want to go back now!!! I dreamt of the yummy meal. I gave one fewer star for service as it was tough to get her attention when we needed something.
The waiter was very friendly and knew the many different items on the menu. The food was extremely tasty. This was my first time there, and I loved the experience.
Stopped for lunch as we visited Colonial Williamsburg. Our wait person, Zoe, was great, warm, friendly and efficient. The food was decent, nothing spectacular but the wait for food (hamburger and crab cake) was long. Seating was good and COVID protocol was being observed. We have not eaten out during this time so this was an experiment for us. It was a nice lunch and we will probably return when this situation is resolved.
I had the sampler platter consisting of 2 oysters Rockefeller, calamari and crab puffs— delicious
Wonderful food and fantastic service! We always eat here at least once when we come to Williamsburg, often more than once. Highly recommend!
While vacationing in Williamsburg for a week, we dined at Berret's twice!
We love the delicious oysters and the entrees are creative, presented artfully, and high quality! There were also healthy choices. Had the crusted trout and salmon entrees.
Went back to experience the Wagyu beef lunch special and were not disappointed. Tender, flavorful and dressed well! A keeper!
One in our party decided to try the lunch special flatbread. Oh my--SALMON with RICOTTA. I would never have thought to pair these two flavors! Again--delightful!
The seating was safe and COVID-aware. Since we were dining with my 83 year old mother-in-law, this was crucial. We felt VERY safe and Berret's has done a great job responding to this crisis! THANK YOU! Anita from Gaithersburg
Excellent food and nice ambiance. Great restaurant for celebrating a special occasion
The red white and blue was excellent
Only downer was the coffee which was lukewarm and not fresh
One of our favorite restaurants in Williamsburg. Food and service constantly very good.
Delicious food, nice ambiance. Would be a great date or special occasion restaurant.
First time. Loved it: good food, comfortable, friendly Staff, terrific service. We've added Berret's to our Favorite List.
Celebrating our son's 21st birthday at Berret's was an incredible experience.
This was a really wonderful meal. Very clean and appears to be covid-19 safe Masks and cleaning goign on all the time. My meal came as ordered, and the mahi mahi was just delicious.
Mahi mahi and sea scallops were delicious, and my wife loved the crab cakes!!!
Went for lunch. Hostess was not very friendly nor clear in what was happening and didn’t really listen to us about Outside vs inside seating. Resulted in additional wait time . Told us to go sit over there and someone will come seat you. Even though we had a 1:30 reservation after checking in it took 25 minutes to get seated. They were very slow clearing tables after patrons had left. Another couple noted they had the same experience. The server Jason was very good and attentive however the food took an excessive amount of time to arrive. Comment was “we have a new chef and he is having trouble with the new menu “. Tough order of 2 salads and 2 sandwiches! The food itself was excellent! Even though they say they have a wifi it didn’t really work at all. Prices were about standard for the location. COVID precautions were good.
We visited on a weekday with a 1 pm reservation. Dining were myself and two young adults (20s).
It was an exceedingly hot day, particularly for November, so we were happy to have inside seating. We enjoyed various dishes, such as the oysters on the half shell (raw and roasted), as well as she-crab soup, crab cakes, a salad with steamed shrimp, one with saltine-crusted shrimp, and fried green tomatoes. Everyone enjoyed creme brulee for dessert. Yes, there was some extra of just about everything to take home. The service was attentive, and the food quality was very good. It is expensive, but this was very much a treat for us, and it felt like one!
A little noisy
A wonderful dining experience. Great food. Professional and friendly staff
Berret’s is a definite dining destination each time we visit Williamsburg. Their hot crab dip is the best. One could make a meal on that appetizer alone. The mahi entree was delicious! Service is always excellent.
The food and service was great! The only criticism was the music-very annoying and more suitable for a millennial bar.
The food is "okay" but overpriced. The menu selections are limited, and I would hardly call it a seafood restaurant. The server hovered too much and talked too much.
Excellent seafood! Great service. I can't imagine a trip to Williamsburg without a meal at Berret's.
Food was consistent as always. The issue I’d say is that over the years, the service has become more tourist “get ‘em in & out” focused. Our server acted like he was “in the weeds”. Maybe there was a problem in the kitchen, but I think it was server. He brought food out warm but not hot. He couldn’t remember the orders. Mixed up the 2 couples’ bills. I think the ambience & service is typically better during day hours.
Best crab cake I ever had- and I have had a lot!
Very good food but entrees are overly large with combination platters. Excellent service.
Wonderful wait staff great food!! I will
Great food and service. We live in Maryland and we always stop here and eat when in the area.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere, social distancing in effect, proper cleaning and sanitation in place. Great place to eat with live music every night.
Sitting outside at Berret's enjoying a dozen oysters is always the best way to spend a easy afternoon in Williamsburg.
Food was ok, service and atmosphere were excellent.
Inside dining area very dated. Oysters were gross, Ceasars salad was gross. Main entree's were good. Ordered double veggies for my entree and it looked like a single serving. Said they were going to bring bread but never did and when asked didn't seem like they wanted to bring it out so we just said screw it. Totally wasn't worth the $103 we spent for 2 people, glad $50 of it was a gift card. 1 app, 2 salads, 2 entrees, 2 beers. Would not go back.
The toughest steak, for a filet; the driest potatoes ever. Nothing to make us come back for a dinner.
Their raw oysters are terrific and their crab cake is also excellent. Nice restaurant, great service too. We’ll be back!
Very nice! Good food! Server was nice and helpful. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
It helps to make a reservation. My wife had a dozen roasted oysters, which was a good bargain, new-england style clam chowder, house-salad and I had the half-dozen oysters-Rockefeller, Caesar-salad, she-crab soup (not bisque), fried-green-tomato-stack, and we shared a crab-cake.
The oysters were small, perhaps because of the season, my oysters had too much spinach and not enough other meat, the stack of fried-green tomatoes had too few green-tomatoes, however the crab cake was full of meat and tasty, though small.
A better plan would be to order the dinner plate, which includes many of these items at a better price.
