Amazing! Service, food, atmosphere.

Fixed price brunch, 3 courses for $25 is an excellent value. We loved the food - caesar salad and deviled eggs very good, pork belly hash and chicken with waffles excellent. The restaurant is a bit noisy, hard to hear conversations sometimes.

Delicious food but very inconsistent and slow service.

Love this place one of my favs. I live a block away. And keep coming back!!!

Not at all up to standards we expect from Birch and Barley

I used to like this restaurant right around the time it was opened. I went back after many years for brunch and I have to say I was not impressed. Between us, we tried the chicken and waffles which were ok, the hash, and the shakshuka and we were not impressed with any of the dishes. The bloody mary was really good.

Birch and Barley has to be one of the best restaurants in DC. Their beer selection, combined with some of the most imaginative and delicious food combinations, make every visit a joy. My only complaint is that the lighting is far too low to read an 8 point typeface menu.

We went for Valentines and the fixe menu was over priced and the food completely underwhelming. Their normal menu is quite good and consistent.

Have been here a few times and also been wow’d by good and service. Last evening service was sub par. Forgot the bring out dinner(long wait), didn’t know hoe to work French press...when coffee had grounds in it told us “that happens sometimes”

Birch and Barley continues to deliver wonderful meals year after year. The reason I continue going back is due to their exceptional service which compliments their delightful meals. I always get the chef's tasting menu with the beer pairing and it never fails to amaze me.

Had a friend in town and wanted to check out this place. The service was great. The menu was a bit limited for someone gluten free, dairy free and soy free. I typically get fruit when I brunch, but unfortunately they didn’t have any fruit. I wish there were more veg and fruit options for people on dietary restrictions.
Overall it was a fun vibe and brunch drinks were great!! I’ll check them out again for dinner and maybe there will be more options I can eat. :)

Poor table right next to the door, hit with cold drafts constantly. Kept my winter coat on the entire time. Very loud, almost like it was a nightclub. Hard to hear the people right across the table from me

Went for restaurant week! Had the best service. They accommodating all 10 of us. Food came out quickly, and waiter made good suggestions. The cookies for dessert with milk are AMAZING!!! Highly recommend the chicken and waffles for brunch. All over wonderful experience.

I went here for restaurant week and the food was okay, the aesthetic was nice, the service was great. I think that it's a great place to try. I think their things on their regular menu were better because we did order some stuff from there too. The food wasn't bad at all, ive just had better, especially during restaurant week. Also I just had a glass of wine but my friend had a cocktail and she said that they weren't good at all. my wine was good though! I think that they have a great menu, a wide variety of selections, they are known for their beer so if you like beer this is the place to be! hope this helps!

The food was great, as well as the service. However they took super long ( like 25 minutes) to bring desert which was ice cream

The food was amazing! My friend and I went for restaurant week and the three-course menu was divine. Everything is seasoned so well, nothing was bland! This is my second time going to Birch and Barley in the span of a week and the customer service has remained consistent which is a plus. It's slowly becoming one of my favorite places to dine in DC. The only con was that the cocktail prices are a little ridiculous for how little they give you, but I can look over that since the food was terrific.

Waited in the aisle for 10 minutes, even with a reservation and no other traffic. Menu did not have anything that particularly interested me. Was not offered a salad or any side. Left hungry. Waitress was largely absent. Waited 10 minutes for desert menu, then another 10 for waitress to take order. Finally left without desert. This is primarily a drinking establishment, not a significant restaurant.

Delicious food, unusual preparations, lovely service.

Arrived 30 min early, seated at the bar until a table was ready, bartender was nice but fairly busy. Seated at our table 10 min late, waiter was nice and very casual, ordered 2/3 fixed menu items and repeatedly received the wrong dish even after notifying our waiter. Food was very good and tried some new and interesting things. Cocktails and beers where fantastic

Not great service. Our server was heavy pushing the NYE menu when we were just in for a regular dinner. We waited a long time for drinks and the check was dropped without asking if we were finished.

The food is glorious, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the room is lovely.

If you want beer you have hundreds of choices. If you want food, you have three options to share, about six entrees, and something that is misc — not tapas or appetizers. Had the chicken and it smelled and tasted smoke (but not much else). The smell lingered on me for hours after. Sauce was — perhaps — chicken grease without much flavor. Service was friendly, room was nice, and it was quiet. But I’d rather have spent the money we spent for dinner in a restaurant with good food.

Great date spot! We had the prix fixed brunch. Recommend avacado toast, fried chicken waffle (note that it’s dark meat, however), and cookies with bourbon milk

Fantastic brunch spot with delicious traditional and creative cuisine. Highly recommend the brisket hash and the crab Benedict! The hostess was so welcoming and accommodating, she was the perfect first impression for the restaurant. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the food. It was our first time but we will be back! Thank you!

Our party of five had an enjoyable dinner at Birch & Barley. Our food was delicious and the selection of whiskey is fantastic.

Whole Porgy fish was excellent. The salad and shaved brussels sprouts were really disappointing. Food was over-salted and didn't care for seasonings/dressings. Service was attentive but a bit slow. Not sure I would return given the prices.

This is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is always outstanding. We loved that the chef brought our main dish out and came back to see how we enjoyed it. Only complaint is that there aren't good choices for red wines by the glass. Great whites though.

Food really too salty, choice if beer is good, service is just okay

We had a large group in town for work and they were spectacular to us! Our server was exceedingly patient and helpful walking our table through food and drink options ( multiple times) and provided some great recommendations. She encouraged a few of us to stray from our comfort zones on the beer list and she did not disappoint. I loved everything I had, and our group had a great night, but for me our server made this a 5 star night. I just feel bad that I can’t remember her name :( Birch and Barley will definitely be on my short list for future visits.
