Best in Van
Bishops is the best restaurant in Vancouver.
We been there many times and as always from the minute we walk in it feels like we back at our parents house.
Service is outstanding, great food, the chef come out and chatted with us for quite some time, we booked few more reservations before the finale
Too bad this place is closing
We loved it!!!
We had a most enjoyable evening at Bishops!! The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. All the servers were exceptionally friendly and helpful and maintained such professionalism you don’t see all that often these days. John Bishop came to our table and I think he visited every table and We had a nice but brief conversation, he was very gracious! Overall I recommend getting in to this restaurant before it closes. Vancouver is loosing a truly wonderful restaurant And I am sad to see it go.
The presentation and quality of the food was terrible. It is a good thing John is closing. Very disappointing.
We went to Bishop's thinking it would be a farewell dinner to a well-deserved iconic Vancouver dining spot. We were so disappointed. I ordered the sea bass. I was shocked when it arrived as I have never seen such a minute portion of fish served at a restaurant. I think it was about 1/4 " thick and about the size of a credit card. There was nothing at all redeeming about the entire tasteless dish. My husband had the steak which was similarly small and he said not particularly tasty. Our scallop starter was delicate and delicious but not seared as described on the menu. The freshly baked bread was the best thing we ate. We went home and pulled out some leftovers to fill our tummies. Oh Bishop's, I am so sorry we had to end our relationship on that disappointing note. John Bishop has a wonderful reputation in this city. I only hope that this has not been the normal dining experience at his restaurant over the years.
This restaurant has been and continues to be the West Side's finest dining experience.
Great experience. The service is outstanding and conversations with the host all contributed to a memorable evening.
As usual--excellent on all counts. Bishop's is my favourite restaurant in Vancouver.
Wonderful food and service. We will definitely return.
Bishop's is the best restaurant in Vancouver for all to be enjoyed, fine dinning, great staff, great room and consistency of their excellent service. Very easy and safe to recommend Bishop's as there will be no negative repercussions from those to whom you recommend this very fine restaurant.
Went to bishops for our anniversary. Upscale restaurant with a great friendly atmosphere. The owner greeted us and had a little chat. Makes you feel like you're part of the family. Everyone was very attentive and food was great. Also gave us a little something to celebrate our anniversary. Should be back in Canadas Top 100 !
Everything about Bishop’s is classy, elegant and delicious. It’s one of our special occasion dining spots.
Perfect, as always! Our favorite date night restaurant.
This is one of the best restaurants around for an excellent meal, great and genuinely friendly service, in a charming atmosphere. It is a perfect place to have a fine conversation where the food and the place inspire. We go to Bishops for a treat and we leave feeling like we have been given a special gift.
We ordered the Taster Menu with wine pairings . The menu was was very varied and certainly stimulated one's taste buds! The wine pairings were excellent, the service was good without making one feel rushed. The evening was very enjoyable as was the other meals we have experienced at Bishop's. We would definitely go there again and again!
Superb food and service for a great valentines day dinner, did the tasting menu and wines. What more can I say?
If you want the perfect dining experience, go to Bishop’s. The food is always (after 25+ years for us) extraordinary, the staff fun and attentive, the service paced well, and so on and so on. It really is the best fine dining deal in Vancouver.
Great food and service. Just the right portions and the right speed. Enough time to enjoy it and have a conversation, but not too long between courses.
Great steak and amazing service.
As always we had a delightful evening at Bishops.
Tasting menu and flights were not explained when delivered to the table.
We were there for the extended Dine-out and really appreciated the food and the atmosphere. First of all. we appreciated the fact that the restaurant accepted to extend the Dine-out menu past the end of the official event this Jan-Feb. The value of the menu, we found, was exceptional. There were 3 people in our party and we got to taste almost everything on the menu. We particularly enjoyed the panacotta sea urchin, the lobster bisque and the squash risotto. After very refined appetizers and main courses, we just found the desserts, although well executed, a little too sweet. We will come again for a regular dining experience.
We came in for the Dine out Vancouver menu and it did not disappoint. We started off with Crab bisque with a crab fritter and it was incredible. Next we both had lamb and it was excellent taste and texture dessert was also amazing Loved the bread too. We will definitely be back Thank you
We were very pleased to have the opportunity to try Bishop during the dine out event, it was a fabulous food journey, from the very beginning to the end. Thank you!
Everything expected of this famous place! So great to be able to try it again!
Tried their dine out 3. Purse menu.
Good food good service.
Will go back again definitely.
The food, service, and ambience were all terrific. The lamb entree and Dungeness Crab Bisque were amazing. We had a very special evening.
one of the best restaurant in town, beautiful plated and balance dishes. Although the dessert is a bit on the weaker side ; it is still superior to many others in town. However it is not as impressive as their other dishes. The service is warm caring with a old school charms.
One of the best french restaurants in town! Excellent food and service, good selection of wine. Will be back!
Every time I go there, they never disappoints me. Every dish looks amazing and tastes really good. Bishop's is my most favorite restaurant in town.
We went on Friday as part of the Dine Out experience. To be fair, it was a busy night. The staff looked overwhelmed and it took them a good 15 minutes before someone pays attention to us. Once someone came we just ordered food since no wine menu had been provided. It took a while before somebody else comes to check on us for wine. As for the food, products were fresh and local but the recipes lacked a je ne sais quoi that made this meal memorable. The sauce for the main (lamb - presented with a lot of refinement) was over salty and sides were kept to a minimum. Neither were they very tasty. We left the place underwhelmed by the meal but pretty chocked by the bill for alcohol, since the markup was much higher than other restaurants we have been to for what I would say were quite average wines. I understand that it is Dine Out and as such the owners have to find a way to break even at least but Dine Out is also a moment to make people discover your restaurant so they come back. We had the impression that as one of the first restaurants in town to serve local foods, it might have been the standard up until a few years ago, it is no longer the case. Other restaurants of similar quality offer more memorable experience for a more decent price.
Elegance, service, and quality are top-notch. The best fine dining in Vancouver.
This was a very civilized dining experience. The room was intimate, the service attentive without being intrusive, the food superb. Very nicely done!
The bread and the dessert were good, the bisque was tepid and the main course very small.
Great ingredients, poor recipes. For example, the mussels were delicious themselves, but the rest of the dish was just okay. We went during dine-out, so perhaps the issue is their choice of menu, but it did not leave us wanting to come back to try the regular offerings. An unfortunate disappointment.
It’s been awhile since I was here. Their DineOut 2020 menu looked good. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Dishes were executed well and presentation was superb. They offered amuse bouche of lobster gelee on a crisp which did its job of getting us excited about the meal to follow. The crab bisque with crab & corn fritters was delicious but the broth was only lukewarm. I like my soups hot. Fritter was light, crispy & tasty. Lamb medallions with mashed potatoes was very tender but quite salty. The playing consisted of a soy reduction which I found salty. The mashed potatoes very creamy & buttery and the baby carrots and the carrot chips were delicious. Chocolate tart dessert was rich chocolaty and decadent perfect with the light soft crust. The meal ended with a couple of fruit gelees- nice touch. After all these years, Bishops continues to deliver an impressive, highly satisfying fine dining experience. Highly recommend!
We had an amazing dine out experience here. I’d definitely recommend for dine out and we would love to go back for the regular menu.
Fabulous always, but especially great value for Dine Out Vancouver! Love this restaurant.
