Bistro Barberet & Bakery
They always have the best quality French fare. Had awesome cassoulet! Hi
Food was just OK. Service was good. Noise level was awful. Turn a damn music down and put some salt and pepper on the table.
Beef tartare and escargot appetizers were great. Service was attentive but not intrusive and timing of drinks and food delivery was spot-on. What truly made me happy was that when I booked though OpenTable, there was a field whereby you could state an "Occasion". I entered "Anniversary" with no other instructions or requests. When we arrived, there was a decorative gift bag waiting for us with macaroons inside. My wife was elated with that surprise and extremely pleased with her meal and the overall evening.
Tables are close together (Euro-Med style) which I did not find bothersome. If you are truly searching for a extremely private conversational experience, it may be difficult here. Otherwise, the energy and interaction provides a wonderful vibe. If you have not been here, certainly give it a try. I trust you will have a wonderful evening.
Oh, and the baked goods/desserts.......look amazing.
It was a great experience, the restaurant is small and all sound carries, not a spot for a romantic dinner!
Service poor. Server had too many tables. Wanted an adult beverage before dinner but it arrived with appetizer. We did have reservations.
Great service, nice ambiance and delicious food.
As as Jesus the chicken dinner with root veggies was fantastic.
Service was delayed. Steak was undercooked. The value just wasn't there tonight.
WE ALWAYS ENJOY THE FRIENDLY, WELL APPOINTED ATMOSPHERE.GOOD FOOD AND DESERTS AND DRINKS
The $35 prix fixe menu is very nice. I always get the escargot appetizer, chicken entree, creme brûlée for dessert. I never order chicken at a restaurant except here. I have never had chicken this good in my life. Great drinks and good wine selection. Exceptional value in a very low key, continental atmosphere.
Thank you for your kind comments, we very please to read that you find comfort in our restaurant and hope in seeing you soon sincerely Cedric Barberet
Great food and exceptional desserts.
Nice restaurant that feels secretly hidden behind the bakery.
We love going to this spot, wait staff is well above average. Food is the best in the city....well deserved of the pricing...we dont hit this place, monthly.....and only reseve for special occasions.
Awesome service at the Bistro with excellent food and beverage choices. Definitely one of the best in Lancaster!
Food was good. Flavor was good, but not amazing. The lamb shank was tender and the mushroom sauce was good. My wife had the boeuf bourguignon, which was tender with a nice sauce. However the potatoes were barely cooked and overall the plate was just average. The room is cramped and noisy. The setting is not romantic, and for the price I would expect amazing taste and a nicer ambiance.
On a recent trip to Paris we had these same two dishes at some random brasserie, and both dishes were tastier and much less expensive.
Always love my time!
Quality food and very interesting cocktail menu. The owner stopped by our table after we mentioned it was our first visit. Desserts (and bakery) are a speciality. Definitely go back. Very busy (full) on a Saturday night.
We have read mixed reviews about this restaurant but were excited to try it for lunch. We ordered the croque monsieur with pomme frites and a Caesar salad to share. The sandwich was served hot and the fries although warm were soggy and we could tell that they were not fresh. The Caesar salad was tasteless and the worst caeaer salad we have ever eaten. At a price point of $9.50, this salad compared to salad that you would purchase at Wendy’s or a grocery store for 1/2 the price. We love French cuisine but we won’t be returning. There are too many other excellent restaurants in Lancaster on our list.
Megan I am sorry to hear that you had a such mediocre meal with us, and surprise you compared us with Wendy's!, as my staff work countless hours to produce everything from scratch, a simple notification to our server will have been sufficient to resolved the problem on the spot, ounce again our sincere Apology! sincerely Cedric Barberet
Great food. Service a little slow and our table was close to the loud bar.
Fantastic date night spot. Cozy and intimate, wonderful food and service.
We really enjoyed our experience at Bistro Barberet. The food was delicious (best french onion soup I have had) and the gentleman who served us was excellent. He didn't rush us which I really appreciated but kept our cocktails/water glasses full and delivered our food at the perfect time. Thank you for a lovely evening.
First time for us. Great food. Would have liked white table cloths-a bit of French formality. Our poor waitress dropped my soup appetizer and it splashed on my legs and feet. She comped our dessert-nice of her. We’ll return-hard to get real French food these days.
A small Lancaster treasure. LOVE this restaurant and the ambiance. Great service. And it was a very uncrowded night so very quiet. The food is incomparably good!
Have not done much French cuisine dining, but elected to try this based on a friend's recommendation. Food was outstanding! Nice & interesting cocktail list as well. After dinner, you have option of ordering dessert off menu or visiting their adjacent bakery with homemade desserts. Tons (actually too many) to choose from. Highly recommend.
Best eats in Lancaster. Exceptional French bistro food.
Always a lovely meal and ambience.
Excellent as usual ! Our favorite restaurant in Lancaster County!
Just OK. One large room akin to just a large barroom, with tables along the walls and a large bar against one entire wall. Definitely not a romantic place, but ok for a group of friends. Food was good but not at all memorable. Wine glass barely half filled. Coffee was not good. Waiter dropped a knife covered with cream sauce on the shoulder of my brand new suit as he was clearing the table (the first time wearing it). I know mistakes happen, but I obviously was going to have to get it dry cleaned...but no comp of dessert/coffee as I would have expected for such an unfortunate blunder.
Met some friends here for the first time. You have to walk through the bakery to get inside the main restaurant. Bakery items looked so delicious that we bought many to take home after dinner.
Service was prompt and professional. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals.
We love this Bistro. Food and service is always excellent. This time our waiter while excellent was soft spoken so with the holiday cheer around us it was difficulty to hear him. Other than this the evening was wonderful. Compliments to the chef who always prepares delicious food with the utmost consistency.
Awesome on every level!! We were hosting family new to the restaurant ... very impressed... New Years Eve 20’s costuming and decor were a nice addition to the evening... Food and service on point, as always!! One of the best restaurants in Lancaster!
Daughter visiting from CO for the holidays
Great food great service as always
Such wonderful food and the owners are soooo nice
Always amazing. The Poulet (chicken) au Jus was expertly prepared. My husband had a crab and scallop cake which he said was incredible. Presentation of this dish was spectacular. Desserts from the bakery are so beautiful it is hard to choose. We love Barberet and are grateful they chose Lancaster for their bakery and Bistro. When I miss France it's only a half hour drive to make me imagine I am there. Merci a tous!
Enjoyed the evening celebrating Christmas with friends over dinner. Each of us loved the food and drinks we ordered. The blackberry margarita and lamb shank was a real treat.
Great dinner location for our anniversary. Seated quickly, quick service, and great drinks/food. Will definitely go again.
One of the best place to go for afterwork or simply to enjoy a nice cocktail. The bartenders are really friendly and they make incredible cocktail.
The food is one of the finest in Lancaster and you definitely feel the french touch.
Last but not least at the end of your meal you can enjoy one of the wonderful desert of the bakery !
Basically my favourite place in Lancaster
