Incredible service. Delicious cocktails. Fabulous food...as always. Only disappointment was the chocolate tart we ordered for dessert. Heavy and dry.
Service and food preparation was excellent. The food chooses and pairings were exceptional.. My only compliant was we were ushered to the bar for a drink , however, our table was obviously ready. Saw several others the same way.
We went to Bistro 218 after a concert. When we arrived, we were offered a table in the bar, but we had requested standard seating. Even though it was close to closing time, we were seated in the quieter main restaurant. Not wanting to eat a heavy meal, I ordered a salad; my companion ordered an appetizer. We both ordered a dessert. Everything was delicious as always. Soft jazz played in the background. Sean, our waiter, was attentive without being intrusive. It was a perfect ending to the day.
Stellar food and service. Possibly the best meal I’ve had out in Birmingham. Will most definitely be visiting again!
Except that the volume on the sound system is sometimes too loud, it is our first choice in town.
Our experience can be summed up with one word: Outstanding. The food, the atmosphere, and our server were all impeccable. This was our first time at Bistro 218 and will certainly not be our last.
Absolutely spectacular - food, service, and ambiance!! Mark, our server, was wonderful!! We had the mushroom/grit cake appetizer, beet salad, and red snapper. Chef is amazing - all were absolutely delicious. Actually chef accommodated our special requests for snapper on trout prep, and for mine - broccolini instead of root veggies. Merci beaucoup a tout!! 5 STARS ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️
This was our first visit to Bistro Two Eighteen and we loved the atmosphere! It's what I would call an "urban elegance" with the exposed brick and white table cloths. Our table was perfect, up in the loft overlooking the restaurant and city street. John was our server and he was fantastic! Very friendly and professional, we would ask for him again. We shared the Fritto Misto appetizer, gumbo, and scallops. It was all very good. We will definitely be back!
I cannot say enough great things about our experience. The food, service, cocktails, valet, everything was great. We are going to make this a staple for our date night outings.
The food and service were outstanding. I had a dietary restriction that the chef did not have a problem working around as everything is cooked to order. Our group had duck, beef and fish and they were all delicious and perfectly cooked. The fish tasted like it had been caught that day. Save room for dessert--the pastry chef is very talented. Our favorite was a cherry/almond/pistachio dessert. Divine!

It was a great bustling atmosphere and food was great! The grilled octopus was cooked to perfection. The only drawback was that the dinner service took long. The server was mostly nowhere to be found so it took a while to get our order in and get our food. Other than that, it was a great experience.
The overall experience was great. The wait staff was very attentive and the food was delicious.
Look forward to going back.

Bistro 218 is a gem to enjoy! Our service was superb-the staff couldn’t do enough for us! We received very special attention in this “almost Manhattan” restaurant. The food was scrumptious and beautifully presented. We ordered the Lobster bisque and it was the best I have tasted! The cherry bombe is not to be missed! Our dining experience at Bistro 218 was memorable and we will go back!
We were celebrating our first date of February 22, 1973. I had added the anniversary notice to our reservation. When we arrived we were surprised to see a Happy Anniversary placard and then to receive a flute of champagne to celebrate. Our cocktails were expertly made and the pate and bread appetizer was delicious and enough to take some home for the next evening noshing! My husband got the Chiopponi and I ordered the Beef tenderloin tournedos. We each shared both entrees with each other and we were very pleased with our dinner choices. Then for dessert, my husband got the Cream Brulee and I got the assorted chocolates. More than enough to take home to eat for dessert again the next day.
We look forward to exploring more menu offerings in the future.
At my request, to save time before an evening event, we were seated at a table in the bar room. The waiter was very helpful to make sure our order was prepared promptly to support our schedule. Gumbo, fritto misto, and pan seared snapper were excellent! The snapper was cooked perfectly! I would definitely go to Bistro 218 again, and have already recommended it to friends.
If you want to experience how a restaurant should be run then have dinner here. Chef Tom Saab has created something really special in Birmingham. Just when you think the food cannot get any better somehow it does. Very special place, highly recommend.

Excellent service and food. The space is brick and can be very loud if its crowded. The prices are high but justified. The grilled octopus (appetizer) and cherry bomb (dessert) are outstanding.
My wife, I, and another couple had dinner at Bistro Two Eighteen prior to attending a concert, so we had a somewhat limited time to dine. Three of us had the cioppino, while one had flounder with Carolina grits and fried okra. We all thought our entrées were very tasty, though my wife and I thought the food overly salty. They have a decent wine selection, and with our meal we shared a bottle of Talbott Chardonnay. Owing to our time constraint, we didn’t have an opportunity to have dessert. Nonetheless, service was very good, and we all enjoyed our meals.
Chef Tom Saab and his team never dissapoint. We went for a day after Valentines dinner and it was perfect. Fresh Flounder and scallops . Wine list is fantastic. Cannot wait for his next venture on 2nd Avenue to open. Best wishes and thank you again for making my valentine very happy!!
We loved our meal this evening and left so full! My husband and I are in the restaurant industry and have high expectations when dining out! It was so nice to leave a restaurant and just go on and on about excellent food and service! I am a lobster bisque snob and it was 100%! Mussels and fries were great as well! My husband ordered the filet with au gratin potatoes and it was so tender and delicious. Overall an awesome dinner and date night place! We will for sure be back! Thank you!!!!

Our waiter, John Cordes, was amazing... very attentive, knowledgeable and accommodating. The food was outstanding in every way. The Lemon Russo drink was probably my favorite mixed drink I have ever had. We will definitely be returning! Wonderful experience.

We went for early Valentine's and had a great experience. We ordered the pork belly appetizer which was amazing, I had the snapper and my husband had the scallops and we had the cherry bombe for dessert. Everything was delicious and prepared to perfection. Chef Saab came out to check on us and the service was spot on. We love this restaurant!
Service and food were terrific. Staff were extra accommodating to our table request. Server was excellent and very helpful with food choices.
I always enjoy my nights out at Bistro Two Eighteen. One of the cornerstones of why Birmingham is becoming one of the best Foodie Towns in America.

This is about my 5th visit. Food is excellent. The waitress tonight could have done a little better but the water guy and matre’d were on top of everything.
Mark is superb waiter. I was hoping we would get him again. We had a couple with us who had never been before and it was his birthday! Perfect timing as far as available reservations with our show we were seeing afterwards.

The service from the time we entered the Bistro was excellent. Very attentive service for our entire visit. The food and drink was excellent. The Octopus appetizer was great along with our entrees. The wine selection was top notch. Our portions were perfect. We went to the bar after dinner and were treated great along with very tasty drinks. A great night and will plan to visit next time in Birmingham.
Great food, the server was entertaining and provided good recommendations, sitting upstairs was a nice quiet experience.
