Steaks were cooked perfectly and the service was wonderful.
Black Angus is always a good place for lunch or dinner. Service is good and the setting relaxed. It would be nice if they could lower their sodium content across their menu. On the other hand, it’s easier for me to eat at Black Angus than many other restaurants. The Filet Mignon is always a good choice.
Black Angus never disappoints!
Love eating at he Black Angus! This time was very disappointing as we had a 6:30 dinner reservation. They were slammed and it was more than an hour before we were seated. I get things get busy...
Service was great - our wait staff was excellent.
This is my FAVORITE special event place to dine! I LOVE the secluded booths for visiting exclusively with my friends. Our server, Ashley, made it all extra special!

From the minute that my husband and I walked in, we felt welcomed. We loved the privacy of the booths and how attentive our server was. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and I love that we actually got to cut into our steaks to check for our preferred doneness. I have never experienced that at any restaurant before. I don't remember our server's name, but she was informative about our menu choices and checked on us the perfect amount of times. Upon leaving, we realized that Black Angus Friars rd was the exact location of the place that we celebrated our first meal as husband and wife. By the way, the night that I am reviewing was our 22nd wedding anniversary.
Our choice of the Great Deal for $48.00 a couple, was magnificent. We loved every item we chose. We will do this again, and probably again. We have family coming from back east soon and guess where we will take them. YEP!. Black Angus.
We made a reservation and our table was ready on time..we were greeted by a friendly young man who showed us to our table. Our waitress (coco) was friendly and efficient. The food was excellent and steaks were prepared as ordered. Overall. A delicious meal and lovely evening
Everything went so well. Customer service, food, all of it great! I think I will just stick to the black angus in fryers road and not El Cajon.
Steak and lobster tail were perfectly done, as always.
Ever since they announced this location would be closing we have seen the quality decline. The staff seems to change frequently, the food is inconsistent, and the communication between the server and the kitchen is not great. They can't seem to cook green vegetables: I have asked for well done broccoli several times and it arrives almost raw; sending it back doesn't help, it gets nuked and is still subpar. We paid extra for brussels sprouts this time and they were almost burned and had a bitter taste. Only one chilled salad plate left, sorry. Why do we have to ask for ground pepper? Entrée arrived before we were finished with the salad. We told our server when we were seated that we were not in a hurry. We should be given time to enjoy the salad before the entrée is served. Why are baked potatoes overdone? The two 6-oz filet mignon steaks were completely different, one more like a tender sirloin and the other thicker but very tough. :-( We used to like coming here but after the last 4-5 months it's almost to the point where we should give up and find somewhere else.
Had heard they were closing so wanted to get there one more time. But there not so I can go again.
We had a reservation for8:30 and got a table at 9:30. The service was very slow. We ordered soup and it was cold. Really bad service.
Was very pleased with the staff tonight during Valentine’s Day. Yes it was crowded, yes it was a long wait. But the fact that everyone was in tune, and beer was served cold, the evening went by smooth for my family. Thank you guys for another fantastic night.
I enjoyed my meal, my wife however had gotten the “filet mignon” but it wasn’t like any I’ve ever had before. It was so tough and not tender like I was used to. I mentioned it to the waitress and she proceeded to get us a new one.
That wasn’t the only thing, I’m not usually one to complain but we made a reservation for 7:30pm. I was told when I arrived there would be roughly a 30 minute wait for my table. What?.. why? I thought I made a reservation, anyways we then waited to was was actually more like an hour then finally we were sat.

Made a reservation for 2 on Valentine's Day for 7:00 pm. Checked in early and was told they were running a little late. People with no reservations were told the wait was 2 hours. The truth was that even with reservations the wait was an hour. Easy for them to tell because the reservation time was on the ticket when the people were being seated. Dinner took 45 minutes to arrive at the table after ordering.
Waited 1-1/2 hours for our food on Valentine’s Day! Then it arrived cold. Never again.
The food and service were outstanding. The value of the Trio (prime rib, jumbo shrimp, crab cake) was terrific. We live in South Carolina, but the crab cake was better than anything we've had in coastal SC. We had to get boxes, as there was so much food, then cooked up the leftovers the next evening--it was STILL great! It was a wonderful surprise, the staff and service were fantastic, and the food was just great.
Even though we had a reservation, we had to wait for our table for too long. We had to get to a show and didn't want to feel that we had to rush.

Our server was excellent, as a matter of fact, all of the personnel we interacted with were friendly and professional. The restaurant was very busy but we were greeted cheerfully and our reservation was confirmed. About 15 minutes later we were shown to our table and once again, the hostess was very friendly and professional. The food, as usual, was very good, steaks were cooked to perfection. Black Angus is our first choice when we want a good steak.

Sad to hear that this, ANOTHER, Black Angus Steakhouse location will be closing. Point Loma closed on us. Then Kearny Mesa. Now this one. We keep having to drive further away. Sorry to say but that's less and less often we visit. We use to go to Point Loma about twice a month. Now once or twice every two months. After Friars location closes maybe once every few - 6 months. Sad.
I must say how much my wife and I enjoyed the seating and the quiet. The booths are comfortable and the design lends itself to a somewhat private seating protected from noise. Not always like that in some of the most expensive restaurants in town. Our server, Rebecca, was attentive and charming. As much as I was hoping for something better, I’d have to give the steaks an average rating. I grill a lot of prime cut meats that surpass the cuts of New York and Ribeye we had at Black Angus. Would I go again? Sure thing, the environment created by the Black Angus makes it worth it to my wife and I.
I come here often. The meat is delicious. Wedge salad is my favorite
I ordered the prime rib medium and medium rare and it was tough and dry both times. I've had the prime rib many times, and never had a problem. However, the manager offered to order another cut, and comped the lesser meal in our party, and I felt that was very professional. Next time I'll order the filet mignon the first time.
It can be a bit pricey, although the local print ads help there. The service and food are very good. The high back seating is a plus. This particular Angus is better than others in the area.

Night out w family
All the meals were very good to excellent; two or our party had Filet Mignon, one had prime rib and one had ribeye steak. Meat was cooked as ordered. My wife said this was the best prime rib she has had. My ribeye was juicy and tender. Our server (Jackie) was friendly and very accommodating.
PLEASE - Do NOT close this restaurant. This is one of the few really good places to eat; so many family restaurants have closed in the past year or two, the choices are becoming more limited.

Our food was great! Steaks cooked to order and service was great. This restaurant is quiet because of the high-backed booths. Great for privacy! I was pleased and taste was much better than another popular steakhouse that is always advertised.
We were celebrating our anniversary and had great experience with the hostess but our waitress was terrible on service and seemed uncomfortable the whole time and contributed to rush us the entire time. Then to end our dinner, the chocolate cake was dry and stiff.
This is one of our favorite places and chose to celebrate here for that reason, but definitely didn’t feel special.
Good overall service
The food was very good, and cooked to order. It was nice to sit in a quiet private booth. Our waitress was prompt and professional and knowledgeable about the menu items. It was a very nice dinner.
