Food was delicious! Customer service was excellent!!
Delicious (the French toast was a family favorite), with live music (which contributed to the noise level, and the water view is lovely.
Anniversary meal. Great wait Staff. A wonderful experience.
Lovely day so we ate outside. Had a salad that was light on the blue cheese but was otherwise good.
The food was delicious, the view was fantastic and the ambiance was very inviting! This is my third time returning to Blackwell Hitch and recommend it to friends and family all the time. Great job guys!
Food was excellent. Sunday brunch is always a hit! Service was just okay. I've had much better service during other visits to this restaurant.
The food was “blah” not a lot of flavor. Ambiance is great. They had a one man band in the bar area. Nice place for drinks and to hang but as mentioned the food is nothing to write home about. Also I should mention they were running late on reservations we had reservations for 815 and we’re not seated until 9. It was a very busy night with a lot of large parties, however they did come around in the waiting area with champagne which was nice.
Excitement turned to disappointment. Made reservation for 2 @ 4:30 today for our 5th wedding anniversary. We arrived on time and the host said it would be 5 minutes b\c they were getting table ready. Two parties entered after us and were seated. Well 2 trips back to the desk asking several different host\hostesses when we would be seated they ended up seating us 20 minutes later in an empty section behind where we waiting. Ridiculous because there were four different hosts and no one really managing the flow. Server took long with drinks and clearing the table. Food was mediocre. Starters wings and meatballs we ok but entrees lacked. The Bayou Penne was said to be #7 on scale of 10 for spicy. I give it #5 with no other flavor. My husband kept telling me time put the salt down. He got two shrimp and two scallops on the shrimp scallop saffron risotto dish that was pasty and pricey. Disappointed and passed on dessert
We needed some special services because of occasion we were celebrating, and the staff was very accommodating with excellent suggestions. Arrangements were carried out with no problems, and everyone was happy with the food and service. We were early for dinner (5pm), so restaurant was fairly quiet.
Salmon was under cooked and had to be sent back
I made a reservation for 4 to celebrate my mom’s birthday on a Monday evening. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all, and we were able to enjoy the beautiful space. The decor is perfect for the space and suits the theme of the restaurant. We ordered the endless pasta selection which was lovely because it allowed you to choose your pasta to order with a solid variety of toppings. My shrimp and grits were seasoned perfectly and was a generous portion. Overall, it was a nice dining experience. Check their daily specials to decide the optimal day to visit. I highly recommend you book your dinner reservation around sunset in order to take advantage of the location.
Went for my birthday dinner this past Sunday night with my family and the atmosphere was superb, the food was delicious and Nick our server/bartender was amazing! Have already told friends and family and will be coming back!
My first visit to Blackwall Hitch but definitely not my last. Everything was amazing!
Had a reservation for 1pm and we didn’t get seated until almost 1:30. When we got to our seats, there were at least 5 other tables that were free so not sure why we had to wait so long. They didn’t bother to communicate the reason and seemed bothered when we followed up on our table.
I normally visit the Annapolis location but I must say, the Alexandria location is great. I had the ultimate Bloody Mary instead of the brunch but the rest of the party had the brunch and enjoyed it very much. The waffles and bacon they raved about. Raw bar, omelette and craving station, outstanding. So many choices. I’ll make the hour drive again. Terrific staff from the host/hostess to our server, Vinitalty.
Absolutely the vibe was extraordinary the food was delicious the staff was very courtesy
My experience at Blackwall Hitch was amazing. Prior to coming, I was told to make a reservation by a friend. So my party and I arrived promptly at 11:30am for Sunday brunch and were immediately seated. Our server, Tina, was nothing short of amazing. Since it was our first time dining here she gave us a tour of the stations. Tina made sure our glasses were full and we received everything we needed to ensure our dining experience was top notch. The food...oh my...the food was delectable!!! Not one of us consumed anything that didn’t titillate our tastebuds. The live music added to the ambience and took the experience up several notches. I highly recommend Blackwall Hitch. My friends and I have already made plans to return. Bon Appétit!!!
Duck was served cold. Manager was useless. Server was great.
If I could give the food 0 stars I would and I’m usually fairly easy going with the food. The only reason it got 1 star is bc it was the best bread basket I’ve ever tasted. The food we ordered though was expensive and had zero to terrible taste. DO NOT order the fish tacos. Ice cold and covered in sauce. Not remotely palatable. Shoob salad was kind of okay being that it was colorful but all the seafood was so cool it was practically frozen. No flavor.
Food and Service were excellent! My friend and I needed a Mom's night out and we were not disappointed. The apple sangria was so good and the crab dip appetizer I will order again the next time I go there!
Very much enjoyed our meal and the service from Omar was amazing. He is a great representative of Blackwall Hitch!
We were originally reserved for my Birthday Brunch..but were late..however, they were willing to accommodate us! We waited for dinner and the menu did not disappoint! We were all satisfied and I enjoyed my birthday outing!
Great food!!! Great service! Definitely will be back!
Sunday jazz band is really cool! We sat upstairs so wasn’t as loud. The greens and French toast are soo good! Also loved the omelette bar.
Food and service are unsurpassed! Busy place that tends to be a bit on the noisy side. Definitely plan to return.
I had the French dip. So very good and the home made chip fantastic. My husband decided to try the fried bologna sandwich. Said it was very good. Some parts of the bologna were a little over done but over all he liked it. We will be back and next time try the muscles which everyone but us seemed to be ordering.
The tuna sushi app was really good. The shrimp and scallops risotto was really good, and the short ribs were on par with most other places I have been. The drink offering we ok. The noise level was not bad, but it was a Sunday evening so I am sure it was less than a normal Friday or Saturday. I would go back again.
The food was excellent as was the ambiance. The server provided timely and informative service.
Place gets busy for brunch so expect high volume and some waiting even if you have reservations. I am not an "all you can eat" fan, but the food is good with enough variety. Presentation is nice and overall ambience pleasant. Service was excellent.
We had a reservation but still had to wait about 20 minutes Food was good, desserts were just ok, not much flavor. Our waitress was very attentive! She made great cocktail recommendations too.
Set reservation for 7:45pm. Showed up and got checked in at 7pm. Did not get seated until 8pm. Why bother with making a reservation if it can’t be honored? Also, service was slow and didn’t finally leave until after 10pm. Not thrilled at being stuck there for over 3 hours.
Waited 20 minutes for our reservation. Not the only ones based on conversations going on around us. Server came, got our drink order. Another server came and said he was our actual server, took our food order.
Drinks came, no issue. Ordered saffron mussels; they were not hot. Mussels were steamed seperate from sauce. Sauce was at bottom of serving container. Bread came with it. Not toasted or even warm, not cut up, just a hoagie roll cut in half on a bias.
Food came. Wife loved her crab cakes, but they looked like two balls a little kid would make out of Play-Doh. You know looked the outside of the crab cake looked like the inside of someone's grip.
My rockfish was not hot. Arrived without sauce. When I asked for sauce the server confirmed with "you would like more sauce?" I said no, there is no sauce. He gave a "fine, I'll get it." I had to get his attention, he didn't stop to see how our food was.
Wife ordered a cappuccino. Server said "it will take some time" and then paused as if he was waiting for her to change her mind. Dessert was ok. Had to get his attention again to get the bill.
I didn't see anyone checking plates before they left the kitchen. Saw an FOH manager back there a couple times. One manager came by the table next to us, spent a solid five minutes talking to some dude wearing too many striped pieces of clothing topped off with dollar bill patterned suspenders...un-ironically. Customer was complaining about short ribs in Virginia compared to New York.
Average. The experience was average. But you're in Old Town, so go somewhere else other than this place.
Great server! Variety of food - all tasted great!
Very loud band on Valentines Day but no mention live music. We had a 10pm reservation that did not get seated until 10:45. Although our server was lovely, the hosts seemed like they had forgotten us. The crab dip was tasty but the main courses were just so-so for the price. The short rib that came with scallops was tasteless and the accompanying potatoes were cold.
Overall, our experience at Blackwall Hitch was a good one, mostly because of the quality of the food. I'll just say that our 4 course meal (special offering on Valentine's Day) was excellent, although a bit pricey (as most nice DC Metro area restaurants tend to be these days). We had reservations and were seated immediately when we arrived. Our server was very attentive and, overall, did a great job. I will mention that one of the food servers (not our main server) accidentally knocked over some water and part of my partner's salad which all landed in a napkin on his lap (so, no harm done). That particular server didn't apologize which I thought was strange, and we never did see him again (which was good). The only other downside to our experience was that there were additional entrances to the restaurant near where we were sitting which folks were using to enter, and the cold air coming in was very annoying. My suggestion to the restaurant would be to limit entrances to the main restaurant entrance. It was a cold night out, and we felt it every ten minutes or so. That being said, I must give kudos to our main server who was very attentive and to the quality of meal overall, which was excellent. I would recommend Blackwall Hitch and would go there again.
Wonderful Valentine's Day dinner. The lamb was amazing. I always get oysters and they never disappoint. I ordered the Red Brick Chicken off of the regular menu and it was delicious. Flavored nicely. I love this restaurant ❤️
Fantastic service and food! Our waitress was amazing and the young man she was training was also wonderful. Will be a return customer for sure.
Awesome service and nice and hot when came to the table. ..Love the view of the water from our table.
My daughter was visiting for the weekend. She complimented the atmosphere and friendly staff. Great brunch experience.
Celebrating my birthday!
