Food is usually a strong point for this restaurant…but since the management change, food has not been acceptable. Steaks were not cooked to order….both medium rare orders arrived well done. Side dishes were also just average. We will not be returning to this restaurant that we used to frequent often
Busy weekend with Parents weekend at UK, however the Filet's were not properly cooked, the baked potato was hard, the mushrooms were not sauted at all.
The Desserts were amazing.
We love Blue Heron. Service is always outstanding. Quality of the steak was not as good as previous visits though.
Food was ok.
Had a last minute emergency pop up and called to let them know I was running later (under 15 minutes), was told that they were very busy and could not hold the table longer than 15 minutes. Guess what, arrived within 12 minutes, and there were at least 5 empty tables. When we were done with dinner, there were still at least three empty tables. I would rather be told we can only hold a table for x amount of time than to be told we are so busy we won't be able to hold your table.
It's a shame that the parking lot attendant was way more friendly than the host.
Service was good and food was tasty.
Best fried chicken I’ve ever had in my life.
We hadn’t been to Blue Heron for over 2 years so we decided to try it again. So glad we did. My wife and I shared a perfectly cooked porterhouse for 2 along with 4 sides. The steak was tender and delicious. As the evening was nice and cool, we ate outside.
What a great overall experience! As an aside, we ate at Tony’s recently and while our steak was not quite as good (but sooo close) as the steak I had at Tony’s, our bill was about HALF of what we spent there.
We’ll be back.

The food was great, the service even better. My only issue is with the chairs. Cracked chairs pinch fingers when moving forward to the table.

It was a very nice atmosphere. The waiter was excellent and knowledgeable. The food was great! Would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Drinks are made well, we tried the heirloom tomatoes, salad, baked potatoes, filet, and skirt steak. The filet was perfect, skirt was a bit overcooked, the potatoes were average but large. Nice place, service was great, no dress code.

We ordered a Med rare cowboy and was was cooked Med. & was quite fatty. We order a Med filet and it was rare. Shrimp were small and limp. Spinach salad was tasteless. The broccoli was over cooked. We really wanted to enjoy a special meal and like this place, but it was overpriced snd food quality and attention to detail was not there.
Restaurant itself was very cool. Wait staff was very good. But! We made a reservation and they sat us in the bar part next to the kitchen door where we had to listen to that door opening and closing constantly while they took orders to other side of restaurant. No one was on our side. They could have put us anywhere but there. Food was good but nothing spectacular and small portions for the price. Also, we had a bread plate but no bread or anything extra. We can say we ate there but won’t be going back.
Before entering The Blue Heron Mike is on hand to ensure you have a parking spot - he is faithfully there in rain, heat, sleet, and snow (I have seen him with his moustache white from ice and snow!) and is very helpful and ever so kind and imparts confidence that you can maneuver your vehicle where he suggests. What a thoughtful, borderline genius idea on the part of the owner! Tom and David were handling the diners last night, who are both very professional and pleasant and they read the customer's desired dinner pace. We were delighted to be with Tom last night, who was attentive and offered good suggestions when we had questions. My cocktail was tasty and could have been a unique creation to The Blue Heron, as I had not heard of a Blueberry Beso - YUM!! We requested out of door seating and were comfortable on the spacious covered deck especially with the thoughtfulness of the proprietor to have professional quality quiet fans that did not blow too forcefully but moved the air on either end of the deck to make these very warm evenings comfortable. Now to the food - we each had a different dish and were very pleased. Chocolate mousse to top off the night is highly recommended!
P. S. The rendering of a blue heron on the menu caught all of our eyes - a work of art for sure!
Took my daughter to Blue Heron, her first visit. We were seated on the patio where we enjoyed pleasant weather, outstanding service (David was very helpful with recommendations!), and fabulous meals. Was a bit pricey but definitely worth it!
Awesome place with a great food / drink setup. Will definitely go back again.

We ate in the"sun porch" area which was quieter than inside. It was too hot to eat on the deck area. Inside seemed very dark so glad we were on sun porch. The food was good and the menu offered some unique items (i.e. lamb). Also there is a parking lot adjacent to the restaurant which is nice (if you get there early for limited slots.
The fellas and I really enjoyed our meal at Blue Herron. Everything from the entrance to the exit of the building was great aside from the beer selection. But that’s being nit picky. I would absolutely visit them for dinner again.
Everything was more than expected. The flavor in every item was fantastic. The atmosphere and layout was warm and inviting. Wes was an exceptional server. Great personality with all encountered.
A very nice place to sit and relax and enjoy excellent spirits and food.

Anniversary. We had a lovely evening. It wasn’t cheap but we knew that going in. We will go back. Tom, our server, was very helpful. He displayed just the right amount of attention. Treat your special person with a visit.
One of our favorite steak place is in town. Get the fillet medium rare with a side of garlic butter
My friends and I had dinner hear while in town celebrating a 40th birthday. Corey was our server and he did an outstanding job taking care of us. There were 5 of us and we all had steaks that were cooked perfectly, and we started with the Bacon appetizer and the Brie. We had a couple bottles of wine that were priced reasonably and overall we were impressed. No disappointments.
The food was amazing…service not so much but not for lack of staff. The restaurant isn’t huge, they had probably 5-6 servers. We were seated and it took someone almost 20 mins to come get our drink order. Everyone else around us was being waited on, they were given bread at the time of order and everything. Not us! I don’t know if it was because we were just two women and there wasn’t a man at our table. It was the strangest thing. Sad thing is we normally would have gotten up and left but we were there to celebrate a big birthday and even that was not acknowledged 🤷🏻♀️ Bottom line is food saved this review.
Was one of our favorites pre-pandemic, food experience does not seem to be the same. Passable but nothing noteworthy as before. No more prime rib on Fridays or brussel sprouts which I thought made them a stand out. Very meager side of creamed spinach, literally only 3 bites which we had ordered to share, when we asked for an additional order it was even smaller than the first. Steak fries had zero flavor, no seasonings. The porterhouse for 2 had excellent flavor but was not prepared correctly. No sear on the surface or rub, not served piping hot with garlic butter in a sizzling plate. Overall disappointing. Our server was lovely and they were accommodating by moving us from a 2 top to a 4 with more room.
Very good service in a most pleasurable setting. Although a good many customers were present it was not noisy at all. My steak (8 oz. beef tenderloin) was the best I’ve ever had and I’ve traveled all over 8 southeastern states.
We went for my son's 20th birthday. He said it was the best meal he ever had and I could not agree more! We took his girlfriend, as well, and she is a very picky eater. Even she almost cleaned her plate! We spared no expense, as we were celebrating, and it was by far the best money I have ever spent on a meal. Our server was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Could not be more pleased! And I think that is truly saying something after spending $250! I would highly recommend! Note*between the three of us we ordered 2 appetizers (baked brie, to die for!, and oysters on the half shell), 2 alcoholic beverages, 1 non alcoholic beverage, 2 coffees, 3 entrees (2 filet and 1 Cowboy Ribeye along with sides) and 3 desserts. So, don't let the price scare you away from here!
Such a nice spot to check out for dinner! The ambiance is amazing and the staff is great! Loved the experience, can’t wait to go back!
