Have been to Blue Spoon many times over the past few years. Disappointed that they no longer offer wine time, but understand the sacrifices being made due to the pandemic. However, the food felt expensive given the quality of food delivered, and the lack of volume in the restaurant. The vegetables in the braised short rib tasted undercooked, as did several of the appetizers. The heritage chicken was bland and chewy.
Our favorite restaurant in the east end. Great food & service, as always.
Food was great. Service was awesome. In a Covid environment the restaurant felt very safe. Would 100% recommend and visit again
I liked the wooden structure better but was still grateful for the setup. The heaters could be a tad warmer as it gets colder but ultimately it was all perfectly fine.
Amazing—eat here! Order the chicken!
Birthday dinner with friends
My only complaint is that the outdoor tables were extremely close to each other. I understand restaurants want to seat as many customers as possible, but during COVID times, I was a bit uncomfortable with how close we were to other patrons.
We were promptly met and sat at a very intimate corner table facing the street. The deviled eggs were out of sight and the cheese board was scrumptious! Dinner (chicken and short ribs) were beautifully cooked with fresh vegetables both served in a full body sauce! We are so happy we discovered this gem of a restaurant.
We had a delicious dinner for 6 this past week, everything was great from the cocktails to appetizers and main course, and we enjoyed the desserts we weren't going to order! Social distancing was in force, we were very comfortable in the corner, and our server was polite and helpful. Great spot for a lovely quiet meal.
Delicious fresh well prepared food served by a friendly knowledgeable waiter.
Drinks were creative and tasty.
Our server got some really good recommendations for wine and food. Absolutely no complains about the food, it was all amazing!!!!
Best restaurant we have ever been to. This is my first review ever written and this restaurant deserves praise.
Small cozy space. Service was great and food was delicious. Had the fall salad along with braised short ribs. So yummy. Owner is very nice.
Best burger I ever had! Service was great. Sat outside.
Excellent service coupled with delicious food. The light dressing on the salads allowed the fresh flavors to
Come through. Our entrees arrived hot and were delicious. The staff was generous with their time and patience
I came with my boyfriend here for a date night and it was perfect. It's a bit removed from downtown Portland, so don't wear heels if you're walking (I did and, ouch). Our server was really friendly and on top of everything -- food was phenomenal. I had the roasted chicken and loved it! We got the steak tartare to start which was also well made. Two thumbs up for us!
Make sure you get Julio as your server. He was awesome! He can make you the best Old Fashion on the East Coast. Food was delicious.
Excellent meals! We had reservations for a Friday evening at 7:15. Our table was inside and was ready on time. We were appropriately spaced for the covid restrictions. We shared the brussels sprouts appetizer, which was very good. My husband had the excellent monkfish, but I think I made the best choice with the short ribs that evening - it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, with a sauce redolent of a butter finish. The wine selection was quite good - had a bottle of a very good CDR. Service was attentive but not overbearing. All in all, an excellent experience at a unique establishment
This was hands down the best dinner we’ve had in years. We both had the steak. It was unbelievable!
We had a lovely anniversary dinner on the “street patio.” The food was good (though a little over salted). Delicious creme brûlée! The wait staff made sure to top off our Prosecco during our celebratory meal. Thank you for a nice evening!
Such an incredible experience, the food was second to none. Will recommend this place for as long as I live
It was great all the way around. One of my favorite restaurants in Portland
Blue Spoon never disappoints. Outdoor dining worked well. Service and meal all great.
We loved the blue spoon so much . It is so quaint and charming . The atmosphere is warm, quiet and relaxing . Our waitress was incredibly charming and friendly, and the food was spectacular. We go to Portland about once a year and definitely will be back !!
My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful meal. Food and service was excellent. Due to covid restrictions we ate outside. Very comfortable for a cool evening in Maine. Great outdoor space with great ambience and even better outdoor heaters. Will go back next time in Portland. Highly recommend.
Great little neighborhood restaurant. The food was outstanding and our server was knowledgeable and attentive. A really nice environment and a comfortable enjoyable evening
First night out and being in Portland for the first time in a long time, This was a perfect night out on their sidewalk tables. Perfect weather, great attention by our servers and the food was spot on. Great ending to a long day. Thank you

A great neighborhood restaurant with farm-to-table style cuisine. Blue Spoon had comfortable outdoor dining and reduced indoor seating.
All the ingredients were fresh and high quality. I highly recommend the bavette steak entree, which was one of the most perfectly medium-rare cooked steaks I've had in a long time. My dining partner had the roasted chicken breast entree, which was moist, perfectly cooked, and had a delicious gravy sauce. We also got the steak tartare and roasted brussel sprouts, which were both delicious.
I highly recommend this place if you want a nice dinner out. The service was friendly and great too.
The Blue Spoon never disappoints. Tasty cocktails, delicious servings and a beautiful evening on Munjoy Hill. We will be back!
This was our first meal out since the arrival of Covid19. What a treat! The outside dining was comfortable - a beautiful Maine evening. My halibut was perfect, followed by a tasty lemon curd tart.
We chose this restaurant because of good reviews on trip advisor site. It was a big disappointment. The restaurant is located on quite street and looks like mostly visited by locals. Simple decor but clean and has nice patio outside that had built wood wall to separate from passing by cars. Waiter was pleasant but seems busy, he was also a bartender. The food was a disappointment, everything I tasted and asked my friends was covered with salt. Food had no flavor but salt. I ordered beef tartar, it was so salty that I couldn’t even taste beef flavor, mussels were in salty broth that I left untouched, halibut was fried well but covered with salt, beef stake and side dish were covered with salt. We skipped desert. I would not come back and recommend this place.
I have been here several times. The food is very good and I love the small setting. We had mussels recently that were not up to par, but they took them off our bill and were very apologetic. All in all a great place to spend an evening!
Blue Spoon is truly an EXPERIENCE. The food is avant garde, and most dishes come with a pleasant twist and unique flavors. This was definitely a hidden gem and something I had walked past dozens of times without taking the time to try for myself. 10/10 very glad I did. Everything from the initial seating, to the wine pouring, the service was great without being overbearing, and the food was incredible. Would definitely recommend for a date night.
The outside platform is adorable. Very open and safe.
Service was very attentive and food was excellent
Wonderful evening for outside dining and Blue Spoon didn’t disappoint! Meal and service was excellent as usual. Lucky to live close by... Need to dine here more often!!
Very nice restaurant with a local, bistro vibe. Food is great.
We happened upon this hidden gem on the Open Table app and decided to give it a try while we were in town. We’re so glad we did. The ambiance was lovely; rustic, well appointed, perfect lighting for a date night. The service was top notch; very attentive waiter/bartender. We had their appetizer special to start: halibut ceviche. It was the perfect way to start our meal; summer on a plate, fresh, and perfectly balanced textures and flavors. My boyfriend had the mussels for his main course and said they were in the top 5 mussels he’s ever had. I opted for the house made fettuccine with basil pesto and heirloom tomatoes. Again, the flavors were rich and well balanced, the pasta a perfect al dente, the tomatoes perfectly blistered. I only wish I had room to finish it. For dessert, we had Vietnamese spiked iced coffees. They were a perfect end to a perfect meal. Final note: the chef checked on us during our meal and wanted to make sure we had enjoyed our food. We were able to compliment him in person and he was very gracious. We highly recommend Blue Spoon.
Great service and great food. Highly recommended.
