Love the cozy, warm atmosphere. We started with the Arancini - so delish! The risotto is creamy and cheesy, not dry, with pesto and marinara sauce - large enough for 2-3 people to share. Caesar salad was fresh and not too over dressed. The bread! OMG, the salt bread! YUM! My husband had the Ribeye and raved about it - seasoned well and cooked to a perfect medium. Call out to Libby for excellent service. The tap water is very high in chlorine taste so recommend ordering bottled sparkling or flat water. Will definitely return.
We loved the food, it was a bit pricey. My moms vegetables came out Luke warm (almost cold), but she said everything else was very good. Service was alright, he didn’t smile once when he was serving us. Very professional just more on the monotone side.
Meatball antipasto was bland. Waited over 15 min after ordering dessert. Waitress was good but seemed she had too many tables; did not come back to fill water glasses. Just an OK eating experience.
I had the lasagna, which was delicious. It had so many thin layers and was served on its side. It was unlike any other lasagna I've ever had. The service was friendly and attentive. I also had a kale salad with sugared pecans and a lemon vingarette......very large!
Appetizers were great and had a good variety available. Ambiance was nice and relaxing for a weeknite. Can imagine to be a up and hip place on Friday nite after work. Was told owner changed therefore not as vibrant and busy as prior years, We came to this place starting 2014 and noticed the food has changed over the last few years. We are out of state patrons and have been coming back almost every year. Branca in downtown Rochester has great food!!!
Food presentation is very nice and zazzy at this location. Pasta dish was excellent too!
Branca hit it out of the park again! Wonderful server (Michael) and bartender (Miles). A perfect Sazarac, octopus appetizer, fantastic bronzini and a delicious chocolate creme brulee to finish. Wonderful meal!
It has a great ambiance. The food was very subpar. The lasagna came out burnt. My salad was nothing but kale and the broccolini was so bitter and mushy that it wasn't edible. Our waiter looked disheveled and was rather slow and dull. Didn't offer to take the broccolini off the bill and somehow added two kids meals to our bill. They also brought out a dessert for my father's birthday and charged us for it. I only went because I had gift cards.
Great food! Worth the price.
Sensational in every respect. One of the best of the year
Food, service, and staff were great. There was a group of 15 with kids running all over screaming. Multiple tables of couples looked discussed. It took mentioning something to staff to change the situation. Normally I’d say it’s the parents fault however there’s a point where the restaurant needs to step in. Overall great experience; once the screaming and running was gone. I’d absolutely come back again.
Too Pricey. We ordered a charcuterie that was terrifically overpriced with some basic parmesan cheese and some mystery meats as well as a pile of pickles vegetables from a jar. The chef special over pasta had so little pork that it might as well have been vegetarian. My son liked his pizza.
Great restaurant to celebrate a birthday! They gave us a delicious fried dough dessert with birthday candles !
We always have a great meal and experience at Branca!
Great food. Light but full of comforting flavor. We are outside and it was a good volume even near the road. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable.
The food was excellent, we ordered pizza. Also we enjoyed the wine. Our server was personal, skilled, and helpful. A pleasant surprise was the cappuccino; it was served hot which is a rare occurrence.
The venue is welcoming, Branca has a friendly feel.
The energetic sound level was, for the four of us, too high.
We loved our meal, service and atmosphere. We regularly go out so even though it was a little higher in price than we normally do, it was well worth it. Drinks were what drove the cost up and with that said they were still very good.
The place was near empty when we first arrived but quickly became more lively! Enjoyed the food very much. I will be going back!
Food was great. We have been there before and have never had a bad experience
Our food was delicious and the atmosphere was relaxing. The service was okay, but I had to ask for things like coffee refill, cream, boxes for leftovers , etc. our waitress was nice but could have been more attentive, especially since there were only two other tables while we were there. The prices are very high but the food was good.
Very good food as always
All good! Beautiful outdoor patio seating. Good food and service.
Our server, Michael, was really good. However, our order for some reason was significantly delayed. When we got our entre, my wife's Chicken Barrata (a standard menu item) was really good; however, the halibut that I had, which was an evening special, was over-cooked. Given that we had already waited for quite some time, it wasn't worth an even longer wait to complain about it and then have to wait for another. Michael was great in offering a complimentary dessert as a result of our waiting (which my wife had). I was disappointed with the halibut.
Our dinner was perfect! From our cocktails through dessert (house made donuts with dipping sauces)..it was just right. Our wait-person was attentive, made a change to my order and gave us helpful info.
We both had the Brananzo! Yum!
We ordered the calamari appetizer because it is one of the best anywhere. My pizza was very good. My husband had the duck and linguine dish. While the homemade pasta was really nice, the dish was a bit bland overall. Ordered creme brulees for dessert and they were amazing! While our server was efficient, he had a stiff, somewhat aloof demeanor. We like to interact and have some fun with our servers, but not this one. We don't want to give out the name, because he did his job very well. We will still plan to come to Branca again sometime.
We were looking forward to dinner because it was the anniversary of our first date which we had at Branca as well. The food was terrible- the “bolognese” sauce was more like meat hot sauce you find to put on a garbage plate- it was all oil and no sauce. The duck pasta had barely any duck in it and although the pasta itself was fresh for both dishes spending $30 a plate for something much worse than Olive Garden was very disappointing and although it was a special place for us I doubt we will ever be back again and will continue to go to Amore which has way better food for much cheaper. We truly don’t mind spending the money if the food is good, it’s just very disappointing when you spend over $100 on food that isn’t.
Service was extremely slow and it wasn’t as if the restaurant was packed. We were disappointed in the food. One of us got the lasagna and it had no flavor. And then the other two meals were the pizza which didn’t seem cooked on the bottom. Thankfully we had a gift card, otherwise we would have been pretty disappointed to have dropped $100 on mediocre food and service.
The food was absolutely terrible. We bought 2 pricey appetizers and salad. The salad was inedible and very poor quality. Boxed croutons? Really? The meatball was stone cold. When I complained about the salad
, the waiter seemed annoyed and brought me more of the same. The only reason we give this a reasonable
Price point rating is our $25 coupon. Just awful.
Great food. Friendly service. Comfortable environment. A touch pricey but worth it.
The best food and service! LOVE Branca Basin
We spent about $140(including tip) on 4 drinks, an app and 2 entrees. Meatball app was very good and entrees were alright, but overpriced at about $30 each. Sitting outside is quite loud as you’re sitting very close to a busy road. Service was excellent and the inside ambiance looked very enjoyable.
Surprisingly disappointing. We had been to Branca at least six times for dinner over the past couple of years and recalled it as enjoyable experiences with good food and service. So we invited friends to join us this time too. The food was not as well presented or prepared as before / the calamari appetizer was 1/3 jalapeños- the homemade mozzarella cheese was very liquid-y , the scallops in that night’s appetizer were the size of nickel coins and the duck pasta was down right skimpy. The place was only half full at 7 pm and appeared to have only two wait staff working. Our waiter seemed more interested in processing us through quickly rather than helping to create an enjoyable meal. Prices were increased and portions decreased- it
gave the impression of headed toward closing- I know we won’t be going back.
Expensive, $17 for a 12 inch wood fired pizza, but it is excellent and I would definitely go back again
We have been to Branca many times but found this visit to be disappointing. It was not completely packed, but the service was very slow. It took quite a long time just to get water for everybody at our table, one of the members in our party did not get water for over 20 minutes. The food was slow to be served but that wasn’t as big of an issue for us (we didn’t complain about this). It just simply was an experience that we don’t want to repeat. The meal was ok, but the lasagna was burned. They did not charge us for some items because of slow food service, which we appreciated, but overall we aren’t finding the high quality service and food there that we used to have in the past. Hoping they turn it around because it could be nice again with a little effort.
Pizza great rest of food a little bland . Had to keep asking for water to be filled but very pleasant evening
Seems to be a small draft on the side of the room, food was fantastic, service was great!
We took friends there for the first time and were very pleased. Loved the Arancini and the red sauce.
The waiter was very knowledgeable and the busboy, Jay, was a delight. He was attentive, charming and made the experience very enjoyable. We will be back again!
This was our third time to Branca and unfortunately it was a disappointment. The pasta portions were small and pricey. Definitely not good value for the money we spent. The special was spaghetti with muscles, pork belly, tomatoes and parmesan in a white wine sauce. The serving of spaghetti was tiny, the sauce was runny like a watery broth, most of the muscles were not open (I had to pry them open to get the meat out which I don’t think is a good sign) and the flavors just didn’t work together. A spoon was not provided (and was much needed for spaghetti and watery sauce) and it took several minutes to get one after my meal was served. We were never asked how our meals were until we were done eating (we had not eaten lunch in anticipation of a big dinner so we ended up eating everything as we were so hungry and couldn’t be bothered to send it back). I mentioned the runny sauce and odd flavors of the pasta special to our server but she showed no concern and nonchalantly said “ya, I had never seen this dish before so didn’t know what it looked like”. Oh well. Unfortunately we won’t be back any time soon.
We gad a great dinner. A little pricey but the food was very good ! Will go back again.
Sat outdoors and since it was rush hour it was pretty noisy from the cars going by.
Service was terrific and cocktails were very nice! :)
The Chicken Burrata was a bit bland but portion was good sized. The Cavatelli with pork bolognese was very good! Pasta could have been cooked a tiny bit longer but still enjoyable!
We will be back!
