Everything was delicious. Set up was great and warm. Would come again.

I love dining at cognac.
The food is very nice, staff are great and even though we are dining outdoors, it is warm and toasty.

Really love the tuna tartar and the skirt frites. The ambience was good and the service was on point. The staff was very responsive and it was very peaceful at the same time. Will recommend.

Lovely setting and excellent service. Salmon was delicious. Liked gesture of hats for celebrating Nrw Years. Only downside was heaters were removed by fire department and feet and hands got cold. Favorite place and will continue to dine there.

Last time I was there you were out of Cheese shuffles! AND there was no kerosene for the heaters! NNOOOO! And the gougeres weren't hot and I hardly tasted the cheese!

Amazing service and food

We sat outside on a cool Sunday afternoon - the spacing of the tables was fine. The waitstaff seemed very busy and service was spotty. The food was inedible. I had the chicken salad and my friend had Salad Nicoise - they both looked appetizing but had no taste and at $25 a salad, very disappointing. When you pay by credit card, the hand held credit card machine suggests a tip starting at 18% - making it difficult and uncomfortable for you to designate a lower tip.
I have eaten at the restaurant on the west side and had an entirely different experience
I would not return to this place.

Outstanding service! We enjoyed our night out very much. Very good food. Great outdoor setup. We went on a cold night and were able to seat outdoors and eat comfortably without our jackets because of their heaters. We’ll definitely come back.

Despite Covid, it is always a pleasure to eat Brasserie Cognac. I never have any complaints and the outdoor dinning is as as good as you will get anywhere in the city. Their French bistro cuisine is surely the best on the Upper East Side.

The menu is of high quality food even during the pandemic Cognac doesn’t sacrifice on quality. It is a gem neighborhood restaurant that makes you feel like you are in Paris. Highly recommended! I went there several times and each time I tried a different dish from the moules marinières to the filet mignon flambé or the sirloin burger, all were delicious and my only dilemma is what I will choose the next time because every dish is exquisite! The deserts are outstanding as well. I recommend the warm apple tarte tatin and the île flottante!

the restaurant has handled the outdoor dining experience very well. it's packed w a line waiting for tables. Very nice people and my avocado toast was lovely. going to be hard to maintain hot food with cold weather but they're doing their very best.

We had a noon reservation and by 1pm, the tables had been doubled to an anxiety producing and inappropriate number. Additionally, a threesome with a large (minimum 50 lb) dog sat at the table next to us UNDER the tent and was walking and bumping into my date. We had our mains wrapped and left. It was also so loud that we couldn’t hear one another. It was awful. My choice of restaurants and I am VERY disappointed in the misjudgment of management in allowing so many diners, so many tables so close together and the dog was just ridiculous. The experience made my decision seem irresponsible and was an awful afternoon.

Cognac has a great location, good ambiance and generally helpful staff. Outdoor dining setup is great; makes the restaurant even more fun and relaxing. Most of the time the food is just- below-average-enough that I wonder why I keep going back, because it's not cheap. This time I had the steak frites, and the food was to perfection, reminding me of why I always return.

From the moment we were greeted by the affable host mike to a welcome back from Dante ...our waiter...we knew all would be great!!!!! we live down the street but had eaten there two nights before for the first time since it opened!! The onion soup is tres francaise......and the mussels delicious....they have done a magical job of creating a french cafe on the street!!!!! c est si BON !!!!!!

Beautifully arranged for Covid times. Every diner at every table seemed happy. Our food was delicious and our service was amiable, professional and courteous. Very pleasant dining experience all the way around.

Everything was great except they were doing construction on the outdoor seating area right next to where everyone was eating. It was extremely loud and multiple people complained. Otherwise the service was terrific as well as the food.
