Shrimp nachos app was delicious. 4 of us had different entrees. All delicious - Halibut, Mustang chicken, fish of the day and bone in pork chop. Sticky toffee for dessert- all amazing. Server was knowledgeable , had recommendations, top Notch service

One of my favorite restaurants in town! Food is always incredible, tonight I had the red fish special with lump crab, divine!! We dined at the bar since only outdoor tables were available (make a reservation if you can) Luigi the bartender was great! Made recommendations, made us delightful drinks and made us laugh! Can’t wait to go back.

We ate at the bar and had great Bloody Marys. Out bartender was outstanding. I had the Humard which was delicious. The truffle was not overpowering. My husband had the ahi tuna that came with these little soy jelly cubes. It was amazing too. The bread basket is with strawberry butter is a nice little extra!

On one of the first cooler days, we requested seating outside for brunch. Table spacing provided conversational privacy. We were happy to be served again by Mark Anthony who confirmed recipe ingredients for one vegan guest. Everything was divine, including seeing Suzy and Cappy! The restaurant continues to be a San Antonio favorite because it never sacrifices quality and atmosphere. Bravo!

We visit Cappy's regularly and are fans of their potato-encrusted halibut and the mustang chicken. We usually have excellent service. On this occasion, they were slightly off the mark - not bad, but just unusual. Our server was someone we've never seen before so I don't know if they were new or if we just haven't had them before. I ordered a cocktail and mentioned my wife was allergic to tequila so the server offered to the margarita use vodka instead and I agreed. She then said "so two margaritas with vodka?" and I said "No, it's just for me. I was just concerned if she took a sip, I didn't want her to have an issue". When the cocktail arrived, she had taken the liberty to split into two glasses for each of us. No harm, no foul, but I wondered if she had heard me. She offered the specials and offered "tomato basil soup". My wife likes that so she ordered it. We later overheard a server at another table say "southwestern tomato soup". When it arrived, it was definitely NOT tomato basil. It was spicy and had corn in it... not what she wanted, but it was delicious. Again, no real harm but she had also quoted a special at $16 and I heard another table quoted $19. She had to refer to her notes quite a bit so I'm thinking she was struggling. I had the halibut and field green salad. My wife had the mustang chicken for her entrée following the soup. My halibut was perfect as it always is, but her chicken have a large spot that was stringy and chewy. Not sure why. We did not complain as she cannot finish a plate anyway and got enough good meat. So, we still love Cappy's, we will still come back - I'll be sure to verify communication with the server and if we have a repeat on lower quality dish, we'll mention it then. Hopefully just a one-time blip.

Returned to Cappy's after moving away fron SAT almost 45 years and glad to know that the restaurant is as good as ever. Great Alamo Heights location with excellent food and service. We dined upstairs among the tree tops. Would like to return when the weather is cooler to enjoy the outdoor seating. Unpretentious comfortable place. Highly recommended!

The special lamb was average at best. The kale and vegetable salad and the vegetables that came with the lamb were good. The lamb had very little meat and was borderline raw.

Had the swordfish special with grilled vegetables and everything was cooked perfectly. The ambience was lovely. The bread basket with strawberry butter was delicious. Highly recommend the sangria.

I had fried shrimp and they were cooked perfectly. My husband had Cobb salad but complained the chicken was dry and tough as was the geeen salad. We shared a lettuce wedge and although it was good I found brown pieces of lettuce and so did my husband. There could have been more dressing.

I took my parents and daughter to Cappy's last night and we could not have been more pleased with our food selections. We had their fried gulf shrimp with dirty rice, pork chops, scallops, and fish tacos. The bread that preceded the meal was baked fresh there, as were all their desserts. We had the chocolate cake with pecans which was very moist and accompanied by vanilla ice cream, and their stick toffee pudding. My father said the pork chops were among the best he's had in his life (and he's almost 88 years old) so that's truly saying something! Our server, Abel, was extremely knowledgeable and attentive. We will definitely be back!

The food just didn’t taste good. For the prices I expected better. The service was great and the food came out super fast. But the food quality just isn’t there there. It seems like they overthink the flavors, they just do not complement each other. Appetizers were the best part. For the main course I took 2 bites of the meat just could not bring myself to eat more of it. The max and cheese is horrible, bland, no flavor. I tasted hubby’s chicken and I honestly could not believe you can ruin chicken like that.

My first time. My wife's second time. Food was excellent. I had the salmon. My wife had the crab cake. Coconut pie, advertised by waiter as "fan favorite" was mediocre. Will definitely go back.

Sierra, our server was fabulous!! Attentive, good personality and a little humor!!! The halibut was divine! The special pork rib starter was excellent and a very good amount of food. The gumbo has excellent flavor! I was looking forward to the prime rib which is only served on Friday and Saturday. It is an excellent piece of beef, but the seasoning had too much sugar and sweetness. It was not to my liking and not at all traditional. I actually enjoyed the leftover with horseradish at home better the next day. The garlic mash potatoes and veggies were superb!

We live in Austin and this is always a must-visit restaurant when we come to San Antonio. We’ve been here at least ten times. Always outstanding service and food quality. Great cocktail: Santa Margarita (made with top shelf Lalo tequila). My wife had the Halibut, which has been on the menu for years and is excellent. I didn’t go wrong with the ribeye. The manager, Kyle, said he would pay for my dessert if I didn’t like their special Sticky Toppy Pudding. I had to pay for it. Incredibly yummy.

Such a great dinner. We went Friday night for an early dinner & were so happy we drove out of our comfort zone to try something different. Love the Brussels sprouts! So good. Service was excellent. Perfect evening.

I enjoy my dining experiences at Cappy's though I wish the tables were a little further apart and there was a way to dampen the noise inside. It's a bit loud and difficult to carry on conversations.

Manager did not honor a promotional certificate. I was informed it expired 2 weeks for promotional time. I SPOKE WITH manager asking for consideration. I left very dissatisfied she would not try to work a mutual alternative.
