I have been a loyal patronage of Casserole Bistro since it opened (6yrs. Ago).
Daisy makes you feel very comfortable 😊 upon arrival and Jonny prepare a great meal 😊.
I will continue to dine at Casserole Bistro.
Great evening out with friends. Shared a number of plates - all so good. Definitely would come again
Daisy is the best!
The onion soup dumplings are incredible - can’t wait to go again😘
Delicious, reasonable, great hospitality. Can’t wait to go back.
I picked this Restaurant because of the reviews and they weren't wrong...
they were ready for us when we arrived (table for 8).. we were seated and then everything just flowed the food was AWESOME,, My family thinks they are food critics AND Not one complaint , so to me that goes a long way ,, everything was served on time ,, the service was spot on,,,and we all Left Happy with full bellies..
i would definitely go again ,,
The food was delicious, I will definitely be going back!
Nice menu and the food was excellent. BYOB
Just excellent. They take their time and the wait is well worth it. The appetizers and main entree are prepared with such care and it shows. We had 4 different appetizers (charcuterie, shrimp, tuna and dumplings) and 4 entrees ( short rib;chicken, shrimp francese; and scallops) and each was better than the next. The owner/chef came over to say hello. Just a great night
Food was outstanding. I always have the avocado with crab appetizer. My wife’s and I also tried the onion dumpling soup and it was fabulous! Best onion soup I’ve ever eaten as it is not overly salty like most. Highly recommend
We love this place! The food is always delicious and a little bit different and special! We had the special leek mussels which was so tasty and beautifully presented!
Casserole is a wonderful addition to the dining choices in the area. If you usually travel to Montclair to find flavors that are unusual and appealing, you find yourself driving around and around looking for a parking space as your reservation time creeps closer and inevitably passes. If you had headed closer to home you could have parked and be in your seat by the time you reached the parking garage in Montclair. Casserole presents a varied menu of dishes prepared perfectly in a calm and relaxing atmosphere, served by the nicest folks you can imagine. One of the best restaurants out there!
Our food was superb, Three of us shared three apps and each was better than the next.
The short rib dinner was delish. So too was the special, barimonde
Lovely cozy setting. Creative menu. Something for everyone. Try the chicken meatball appetizer. Spivey and wonderful. Tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes delicious. Give them a try!!
Casserole Bistro is always excellent, we go regularly. You couldn’t meet nicer owners and staff.
Smallish, store front bistro with an eclectic ambiance. Very clean, with white table clothes, napkins and quality flatware. Greeted immediately upon entry and seated at our reserved table. Menus and daily specials were promptly presented and water poured at the table. A Mediterranean Cold Plate (antipasto) and Escargot appetizers were selected along with the ravioli special of the day, halibut special, twice cooked duck, and sea scallop entrees. The antipasto was easily enough for three people, while two could split the escargot. Note that the current Open Table menu seems somewhat out of date as neither of the appetizers are listed. The raviloi special was 6 creamy, goat cheese raviolis served in a rich carbonara sauce, obviously home made. The halibut was pan fried served over a potatoe pancake and garnished with an apple / mango salad: check the menu for descriptions of the other entrees. Dessert was a warm banana bread pudding, some incredible churros with vanilla ice cream, a cappucino and an expresso. Lot of sharing at the table and not a single dish disappointed, with the halibut and sea scalllops just amazing. Service was friendly and efficient. No idea why this restaurant was only about half-full by 8PM on a Saturday evening. That said, it's not an every week visit for many people - $175 including tax for a party of five.
Food is always outstanding!!
Food was delicious !!! Great service ! Owners are very personable .
First time here but will be a regular - great find in Bloomfield! Inventive and well prepared, professional service, never have to ask - they know what you need. The onion dumplings - take on bistro onion soup was wonderful, cheesesteak egg roll was de-lish!
Obviously were not prepared for sonmany guests. Very long wait for food. Quality and taste of food was very good but the long wait put a damper on experience. Not eager to go back.
Always a remarkable meal, well presented, tasty. Never rushed.
Food is fabulous!!!
The food was good. We have no complaints on the service and attention we received. The restaurant is clean but very outdated. What very much turned us off was when we arrived. The establishment had lit incense and there was a very strange odor in the small eating area. We also smelled a very strong cigarette odor throughout the small space. This experience very much made our Sunday afternoon meal very unpleasant.
Living in Bloomfield, I must've passed this place quite a few times driving around. So for my bday my friends & I decided to give it a try. And so happy we did! The waitress was extremely nice & accomodating. They didn't have skirt steak on the menu but the chef kindly obliged my request & it came out perfectly. The tostones with the salsa & the rice were a great accompaniment. The shrimp in garlic sauce app was very tasty. Not to mention it's byob so that was great. For dessert we had the churros with vanilla ice cream & hot fudge on the side had just the right amount of sweetness & were delicious. They even put a candle on it & sang happy birthday to me. Icing on top to a great dinner. I'll definitely be back.
Always excellent ! Great specials, never disappoints.
Consistently one of my favorites! Took some close friends there this past weekend and all had a great time. Great food, great service.....I do miss the "Duck Two Ways" that used to be on the menu.
Husband/Wife team Hidden Gem! Love the menu choices and the FOOD!
BYOB, Reasonable prices, Fish, Pasta, Duck, Beef, ALL Great!
Consistently one of my favorite restaurants. All that I can say is this chef/owner GETS IT. His ability to pair foods and tastes that you never would think would work together is just amazing!
Everything was excellent from start to finish.
Our first Casserole dining experience was on Valentine’s Day. The restaurant has a great vibe to it. Food was plated beautifully and tasted better than it looked. We enjoyed ourselves. Would recommend and go again. BYOB
We used this place as a middle location. When we first came in nobody acknowledged us after they pointed to our table.
My husband and I got there first and they didn’t offer us water or to take our coats or anything. It was a cold day in January and our table was right by the door. The place was very small so not many people came in and out but when the door opened it was cold. Most of us sat with our jackets on. They don’t have any way to cover the door from letting the air in. The food was pretty good but the ambiance was not. The waiter was just ok. We were able to get a reservation for 8 people quickly but it was a long table (we preferred round) and we will probably not be back.
Perfect date night.
First time there and we will return! All of our entrees were excellent. Salmon, tuna, eggplant and short ribs were all nice sizes and prepared as ordered. Some unusual appetizers -delicious buffalo chicken meatballs ( had a kick) onion soup dumplings (yum) We enjoyed the fact that we did not have to yell to be heard across the table.
Great local restaurant with really good food. Portions are nice, service is quick and the food just looks very good.
Food and service was terrific. It was a little pricey but more than worth it. Overall great experience.
This place is such a hidden gem! It doesn’t look like much for the outside but the food is incredible. We went here about 2 years ago and had a fantastic dinner with friends. Haven’t been able to make it back since but we decided to go for a date night and nothing has changed (in a good way!). Everything is fresh and made to order. Menu is diverse and yummy. BYOB. Really nice staff.
We have come a number of times and have enjoyed each of our meals. The ingredients and flavors are well balanced and compliment the meat/fish of the entree. Each meal takes some time, since each meal is prepared to the order, which provides for some conversation and not being hurried out the door. The only way to find out about the Casserole Bistro is to give it a try.
We've been here 3 times now - and its always really good! It's very small but the food is amazing! Last time we went - for the two of us we had one app, two entrees, one dessert and coffee and it was under $100 bucks. We moved out of Bloomfield but still come back to this restaurant. Love it!
We went for a GNO on a Friday evening and all was great. Thanks!
