My husband and I dined here years ago and liked the food, but felt it was a bit loud. We decided to try it again and were pleasantly surprised with the entire night! Great service, delicious food and comfortable atmosphere. I highly recommend checking this one out!!
Very understaffed in which my wife and I were pouring our own wine and bottled water. They never refilled the bread basket throughout the entire meal. Overcooked the veal chop special which I then had to wait an additional 15-20 min for the refire. The second one was barely medium, still overcooked, and the chef came to the table to check himself and had to ask if it was any better. Keep your cash!
Cold bland dry stale tasteless food. Really subpar experience.
The food is delicious and beautifully prepared. It is evident that the chef owner cares about the quality of his ingredients and his food. Service is excellent without being intrusive. This gets our vote for best restaurant in Philly. It’s always a treat to eat at Casta Diva.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal at Casta Diva. Service was friendly, attentive and helpful. Food was fantastic. The Burrata crostini was phenomenal. A wonderful combination of creamy burrata, roasted peppers and perfectly toasted crostini. The calamari was exquisite. It was incredibly tender and perfectly cooked. The tomato & olive broth was perfect. The manicotti special was delightful. Very light. The ricotta/spinach filling was very good. The fettucini with bolongese sauce was delicious. The sauce was a nice mix of meat & vegetables. The poached pear dessert was the best. The staff is a strong asset here. The restaurant has a quiet sophisticated vibe. Space is tight but you have sufficient space to be comfortable. Wish all italian byobs could be this pleasant.

everything we had was cooked to perfection. kiera our waitress was extremely helpful and courteous. i am so happy we tried this place. we had the crostini ceasar salad (with actual anchovies!!) and the free range chicken/lamb. the bread was ah mazing as well. the chicken melted in your mouth - it is not common that chicken is cooked this well. i think the only suggestion i may make would be to add cheese to the olive oil or make it available (ricotta, parm) but it was excellent overall!!!
We went for Valentines with 2 other couples and everything was great! Dana was so friendly and attentive. Will most definitely be back!

Casta Diva has been one of our "go to" places for years. The Caesar is one of the best in Philly and the pastas are great. Salmon dishes are generally very good; my Wife lives the Lamb Chops.
the Calamari appetizer is very good too.
Being a BYOB is right up our alley.
Service is very attentive.
It is cash only, so bring the greenbacks with you.
Food design and presentation was elegant. Small size of space made it feel personal and that you were dining in a major American city. Desserts were special!

I hadn't been to Casta Diva for a few years, and it was every bit as great as I remembered. Even though small, the noise level was quite low and we didn't feel that we were on top of the next table. Food was flavorful and authentic, and the service was friendly and very good! I highly recommend this restaurant. Favorite dishes are their mushroom soup (no cream, non-dairy) and the pappardelle with wild boar.
Maybe because it was restaurant week but the bronzino was just mediocre.
However, i am going to try it again and see if the food is better non restaurant week.
Great pasta, everyone enjoyed their meals, great service. Will be back to sample more of the pasta.

Food was incredible- was a little loud inside the restaurant. We ordered lamb medium rare, came out medium well, not sure where the mixup was but there was no more left so we ordered the boar which was very good.
My husband and I went for restaurant week, although we have been here many times before. We both thoroughly enjoyed our dinners. He ad the beet salad and wild boar shank. I had calamari and bronzino for dinner. The portions were very generous and the food was delicious!

Casta Diva is one of my go-to places in Philadelphia. It’s about half a block from my home — I can see it from my window — so I often think of it as “going downstairs to grab dinner.” I try to get there about once a week. Steve is a fantastic chef. His veal chop and his pork chop are outstanding. All of his pasta preps are outstanding. His Pappardelle al Ragu Di Cinghiale is the best I’ve had outside of Florence, and his gnudi, sort of a ravioli without a pasta shell, are like eating cheese-flavored clouds. I’m a pretty serious cook myself, but his work is outstanding and his prices are incredibly low, so this is a quick, easy, and inexpensive alternative to preparing my own dinner. He has access to the best beers and wines in the city — anything you want to bring! — with no corkage fee. I’m not sure how he survives with food that good, prices that low, and no revenue from wine, but I hope he stays open for as long as I live in the city. Great place for a romantic evening, for a thank you dinner for junior colleagues, or for a celebration. It’s a great place for dinner with a book and a great bottle of wine by myself, which I have done on countless occasions. It does get a little loud on weekends between about 7 and 9, so I try to come late when I come on Saturdays. In summary, great food and great value, with wonderful staff.
The place seem cozy at first but we sat near the window that had a very bad draft. It was unknown that the place only take cash. It would have been appreciated to have known beforehand instead of having to go to the nearby 7-11. The facility isn’t handicap accessible. The waitress/host wasn’t welcoming. We felt rushed about ordering but the other servers in black were helpful. We went for restaurant week and the menu seemed exciting but the food we had seemed a bit one note. The portions left us still hungry after we left. Overall, it was a okay experience. Not bad but not exciting. For something in the Rittenhouse area, I’d expected something a bit more elevated. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t come back.

Although I live very nearby, I have never tried this restaurant in spite of hearing wonderful feed-back about it.
So glad that we finally went! It was restaurant week and we went for a 6pm reservation. It was quiet when we arrived but the place was jumping when we left...loved it!

Why this place is a "hidden gem", I have no idea! I have been coming here for years and it has always been incredibly good - excellent.
What a delightful find! An intimate BYO just off Rittenhouse square has formidable cuisine and service to match. From the simple free range 'airline' chicken breast prepared 'en timbale' to mountains of rope line mussels perfectly paired with fennel and pasta, to the definition of Medium Rare Temp for lamb chops, everything here is delightful and reasonably priced.
Bring some of your favorite Vin, it's a terrific place to pop the cork and let the flavors mingle!
Good downtown restaurant. Fair prices. BYOB and the wines were handled and served properly. Will be going back again soon
I stopped going here several years ago and now I remember why. My fish was dry and way overcooked, husbands pasta dish lacked flavor, and dining companions meals were mediocre. . Food was expensive for a BYOB.
A great dinner with our grown children whom we see infrequently. A special time everyone loved what they ate.
