The food never disappoints and the seafood dishes are outstanding. That said, a pad Thai side dish was way too sour tasting and the coffee was thin, not the tasty Pete’s coffee that was brewed in the past. The kitchen staff were very loud at certain times.

Chinois turns 40 this month (September) and long may it continue to run. The food is made to order, fairly priced and still surprises with its delicate flavors. The wine list is very fairly priced and comprehensive. But beyond the food and the wine there is the welcoming atmosphere and the even more welcoming staff. From Bella at the door to Lisa at our table to Victor behind the bar, there is nothing but smiles, warmth and accomodation. We will be back soon and we hope to see you there.

Food is mediocre, dated, and overpriced. Not authentic Chinese. Fusion from the 80s that has never been updated. Incredibly expensive, and service was very inattentive.

Whole catfish more than enough for entree for two. Duck fried rice also a great side for two and a good amount came home. Thankfully not too noisy. Just people noise no music. Always love this LA restaurant.

Food was mediocre at best. I’d equate the food to Red Lobster but with a premium price tag. Someone in my party had severe abdominal pains while still dining. I’d probably skip this one. The server was pretty nice, he was rushed though and only stayed long enough to get the water order, guess I won’t have that drink after all. Perhaps this is a sign I need to back off?

It’s a very nice location. You feel a great atmosphere. Nice audience. The food is 100% fresh and the size of the order is really big. Overall a wonderful restaurant.

Chinois remains an outstanding, fun, innovative place I cherish going to - and have since the mid 90s. The food is sooo good, the kitchen counter unbeatable, and the staff so good. Fun, friendly, many whom have been here years and even decades. This remains Wolfgang Puck's best Restaurant - maybe because it's the most personal and intimate. It feels like coming home every time we are here - which now that we have moved up to NoCal is a must-do every time we are back in LA. Shoutout to Bella Lantsman who has greeted me and us since the early days of Chinois, always has a smile and good story. You and the longtime Chefs (Rene and Luis before him), the staff and the incredible food remain world class amazing - and so much fun.

I am NEVER disappointed at Chinois. We have been customers ever since the restaurant first opened. It is our favorite spot for birthdays, dinner with out of town visitors, private celebrations in their party room, and consistently wonderful dinner dates for ANY reason. Bella and her staff are impeccable! The menu has favorite dishes you can always look forward to and seasonal additions like soft shelled crab that is mouth watering. We LOVE Chinese chicken salad, the duck fried rice, the haricots in black bean sauce and the fried catfish. The short ribs are always a winner too. Leave room for one of the stunning desserts too! Make a reservation. ALWAYS a fantastic meal.

Just had another phenomenal meal at Chinois. I have literally been coming here for 35 years and it astounds me the food is consistently as fantastic as it always has been. Start with the Chinois Chicken Salad. Many have tried to copy it, but no one accomplishes the greatness of the original. The flavors are just sublime and if salads can be addictive, this is the one. The lamb in lettuce cups is equally great. So flavorful. Just delicious. And the Shanghi lobster with crispy spinach is simply the best entree on the planet. A dish that is totally unique to Chinois and just mind blowingly good. The service is as terrific as the food. If you have never been, you must experience Chinois. And if you have been but it's been a while, it's every bit as great as ever. Time to come back.

I’ve never been disappointed. The service is exceptional and the food is so fresh and delicious. I’ve brought so many people here and they are always impressed. My first time here was on my birthday December 2022. I think I’ve been 6 or 7 times since then. It is the only way to celebrate a special occasion. The Shanghai Lobster is hard to pass up, but the spare ribs melt in your mouth. I feel like I’ve had almost every appetizer. You really can’t go wrong here. This has become my favorite restaurant. If you want to take me somewhere this is the place!

For forty years Bella has helped make the Chinois experience magical. The food and service are impeccable. My only regret…I don’t eat here often enough. I recommend Chinois wholeheartedly!

I just love eating here. The food, now old school ambience, impeccable service from career wait staff, charming clientele. The description has $$$$, but that neglects that the portions are huge. One dish can feed two people. I know it’s not the hip new restaurant of the moment, but it’s just such a well run classic. It’s always a joy.

The food and service were as good as it gets. We had pancakes and then rice and the catfish. The pancakes were delicate, with a great sauce and filling. The catfish, served whole, was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The expert staff filleted the fish at our table. We had enjoyed this dish before at Chinois and it met our expectations once again. This was a birthday dinner at our favorite restaurant in a city filled with outstanding food.

Chinois has always been a favorite of ours for over 25+ years, whether for special occasions or just a good evening. The vibe is always upbeat , the service is top notch and the food, quality and consistency has always been outstanding. It truly is amazing how consistent the food has always been after all of these years. The flavors, presentation and portions have always been more than satisfied. We have been back many times and we will continue to enjoy as long as there is a Chinois. No way to specifically describe except to say, go and enjoy.

Maryland soft shell crab with crisp spinach was fantastic! This is why one should go to a great restaurant, to be served what we ordinary muggles can’t make. Salmon and sea bass were also excellent!

I've been going to Chinois for about 30 years and I will not be going back again. There is one dish that I really like there and that's the only reason we tried it one more time. We went for a romantic birthday dinner and they failed to deliver. They pack you in like sardines and the service was terrible. I did get the dish I like and it was still good but didn't make up for the negative experience.

Consistently outstanding food. We had lobster spring rolls, Chinois chicken salad, duck fried rice and sizzling catfish. The catfish was crisp on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. Very tasty. The lobster spring rolls were excellent, and there is a reason Chinois chicken salad is a signature dish.

Maybe our expectations were too high but we were very disappointed with our meal. None of the dishes were inspiring. We expected more than ok and felt we could get a better dinner at a neighborhood restaurant. The duck pancakes were our favorite but still nothing special. The scallops with pad Thai did not shine. We had two nice sized scallops and the other two were small and one was broken and looked unappealing. The sauce they serve with it did not do anything to bring out or complement the flavor of the scallops. The pad Thai was bland. We also ordered the haricot and these were thick green beans, nothing like I ever had before. The sauce was ok but nothing special. This was a mediocre meal at best but when you consider the prices charged it felt like a rip off getting off on the hype of the Wolfgang Puck. There are much better restaurants nearby so don’t expect to be back.
