Chutney's Queen Anne

Great food at a reasonable price. Will definitely consider visiting again when in the area.
Vist this place if you wanted to have good food(though not many varieties) or on a date(since nobody cares you)
The food was awesome, served hot and fast, but the staff doesn't even care about the customers once they are done serving the food. We wanted to order few items along with bill and felt like the staff is ignoring us. I thought the only way to grab attention is to get up and start leaving so that they can realize that there are people around the corner who has to pay bill.
Tip: let the staff know that you will order few more items in while so that they pay attention to you and avoid waiting for a longtime.
The staff was really nice. We order anokra dish the was tasty.
The problem was that when the second dish arrived.
( It was a chicken tandoori dish with pureed vegetables.).
The chicken was dry and old.
We told them we thought it was old chicken and had been precooked.
The waitress said they might have used chicken left over from the day before.
With out asking they removed the charge from our bill.
I am hesitant to give it a second try as the cook had to know that the chicken had been precooked and thought the sauce would cover it up.
It was just ok. not terribly clean, not super friendly service but the food was just good
Nice people- but poorly trained waiters except for one. I had the mixed grill and it was very over cooked- the waitress ( manager?) was very nice and didn't charge me, but I don't think I would go again. When I showed how over cooked my lamb chop was ( well done instead of medium rare) he disagreed that it was over cooked! Two waiters said the would get me a condiment I asked for and they never did. I think they didn't actually understand me. I have been to a chutney's in bellevue and it was quite good- but not this one.
We didn’t have the greatest experience. Apparently the kitchen was over taxed by takeout/catering orders. We waited long enough for our food that we began to worry about getting to the ballet on time. Dishes we were served were not exactly what we had ordered even though I asked about one. We didn’t have time to wait for the requested chicken dish which was a special so accepted the substitute. We were comped on the chicken dish which was appreciated. Food was tasty, but I think we’d have enjoyed what we ordered more.
Love the food! We had a group of six people, and the restaurant was quiet enough for all to participate in the conversation.
The food was excellent and the staff was friendly and helpful. The manager was walking around and very sociable and friendly. We had an appetizer, three entrees, and three desserts. Everything was delicious and presented beautifully. It was totally worth the drive.
Good place to eat before going to an event. The entrees were basic and, to my taste, very bland. Staff was welcoming and proficient and the food came out quickly. I would eat there again pre theatre or event at The Seattle Center
We're big Indian food fans and very much enjoyed our meal. I was hoping for more korma dishes but the Chicken Tikka Masala was a good choice instead. Good naan and samosas.
Four of us who have season’s tickets to the Seattle Rep plays have been to four or five different restaurants before the plays, but now go consistently to Chutneys. We all find their dishes wonderfully prepared, very different tastes, and imaginative. I highly recommend Chutneys.
We’ve eaten here many times over the years, and it just isn’t that good anymore, there are many other Indian restaurants to choose from in the city, so we probably won’t be back. The restaurant is dirty ( feet stick to the carpet) the booth seats are torn, and the restrooms are filthy. One item we ordered was not on the menu and the service was haphazard.
Excellentt choice before a performance at Seattle Center. We especially enjoyed the Tandoori Salmon
Awesome menu with authentic choices. Great service and food for a good value.
It’s good for sharing dishes among your party, to taste more options.
Great place to take a quick bite before the concert. Everything else in the area was completely packed. Delicious food, lots of choices.
The food and service were excellent..perfect location to eat before an event at Seattle Center. Not too pricey..suggest reservations .. totally worth it!
The food was fine, but the place was very boring. There was only one other diner and it seemed as if the place hadn’t been updated in years.
Great food and service! Would definitely dine here again.
Inattentive services beginning at entrance. Host was unaware of reservations. Lentil soups were taken away full. A bowl of salty tasteless liquid and a sheen of oil spread across the top. No acknowledgement as if they were aware of its misrepresentation of a soup. We still paid full price for both. When we requested no rice the server disregarded and brought in anyways. We asked for an alternative and he informed us that he forgot and said we had to pay for anything else. He made us feel as if we were being a bother. An uncomfortable experience and an unsatisfactory meal. We will not return.
Food is good and ambience is pleasant. Overall it is good. One of the best indian restaurant in Seattle.
The food was amazing. We made a reservation for 7:30PM on New Years Eve and when we arrived were told they would be closing in 30 minutes. We felt bad for coming so close to closing, but if they didn't want people coming in so close to closing probably should not have let us make a reservation so late. We felt rushed the whole time we were there, on the positive side our food came out very quickly and service was prompt.
Being the only guest @ L was somewhat awkward. The food was as good as I recall it during my years in India!
Great Indian food, great service, and gave us plenty of recommendations!
A neighborhood gem. came here for the concert with my date. The place was busy and bustling. Service was top notch. Food was flavorful. Being an indian i was picky about the food but chutneys met my bar. Never heard of a lobster dish in an indian restaurant and this place served it. The dish was the best of all. Will surely visit again.
There was a mix up in our reservation but they went the 'extra mile' to get us in. Thanks!
Chutney's was great as always. The vegetable samosas were nicely spiced with tender, flaky crust. The lobster masala was filled with succulent pieces of well-cooked lobster in a rich sauce and the chicken sagwaala was lots of chicken in a wonderful green sauce of pureed broccoli, cilantro and mint perhaps. I forget the ingredients, but not the flavor. We were there early before a show, so I don't know what the noise level is later in the night, but it was quiet and very comfortable when we were there.
Chutney's has been around a long time. I suspect they survive due to their tasty, authentic Indian food. We have eaten here a couple of times over the past year and always find the food good. That is it. The place is in serious need of rehabilitation: The walls need painting, booth and tables need refurbishing, and, in general, the place needs an overhaul. It looks and feels tired. The staff is not trained. This time when we entered the man standing by the sign telling us to wait to be seated was so morose we weren't sure what we had done wrong. Skipping many details let me say, he was unfriendly, unhelpful and after he disappeared we were grateful. We love their rack of lamb. It is flavorful and generous. It doesn't matter if you order it rare or medium rare it will be served well done. Still, it is tasty and a nice dish with properly cooked vegetables. The bar has no olives for the martini's, no limes for the gin and tonics. Naan is delicious as are all the dishes we have ordered. When attending an event at the Seattle Center this is a good spot as it is close and there is always a table.
We have been going to Chutneys in Wallingford for many years. We had tickets to the Rep so decided to try the Queen Anne location. First off, they have many orders for take out which is why it took a long time to get served our dinner. Second, the chicken in the Tiki Masala was over cooked and chewey. Third, the Salmon was delicious. Fourth, our drink order was wrong as was the dinner. So maybe try some other things and make your own decision.
Great food. Recommend the Kashmiri kofta
This is a different restaurant since new management took over several years ago. Creative dishes, and always delicious. We go before the opera, a tradition.
Casual environment with a casual approach.
Very good food options. Chicken and lamb dishes are very tasty. The shrimp appetizer was a favorite of the group.
Easily shareable dishes. We ordered two entree's and an appetizer for 4 persons.
We did make a reservation for a Saturday night and it wasn't necessary but reassuring.
Surprise was the cocktails. They were nice and had a fresh approach.
Meal was good. Place was kinda empty when we got there. But the food and service were good.
We ordered Paneer tikka masala and Garlic naan. The Paneer tikka masala was so sweet I confused it with shahi Paneer, but the taste was good. Garlic naan had garlic paste over and garlic was not stuffed, but again tasted very good. Niw quantity: Naan were small in size but the quantity of Paneer tikka masala was good for 2 people. They gave Jeera rice with Paneer tikka masala which tasted awesome. The best among all and sufficient quantity also. Went with Groupon coupon. Witht the coupon it is more than worth it. Definitely worth a try restaurant.
We went on an opera night. We have been there numerous times before with satisfactory results. The service this time was very slow about 40 minutes before our food came. It was a tandoori combo. All food on the plate was over-cooked, quite salty, and dry. i could hardly tell if I was eating meat or fish because it was all mushy. My husband shared it with me and had the same opinion. He and I were disappointed and hesitate to return.
Some surprisingly good dishes on this menu. The Tandoori Rack of Lamb is one great example of tasty, generous portion and very reasonably priced though a bit over cooked. Other items very tasty as well. We felt the wait staff was poorly trained. Simply being of East Indian heritage does not qualify a person to serve Indian food. I do not know how many differing people stopped at our table to ask the same question as previously asked. And, when we asked some of them about certain dishes their lack of knowledge of their food was apparent. The general manager is a charming, helpful guy. He is not well supported by his staff. Maybe it is expected for them to have lousy cocktails and a terrible wine list. Straight up martini served at room temperature without any type garnish. ??? The mango mousse slice was served still in its frozen state, Rather like a mango Popsicle right out of the package. Very disappointing end to a tasty meal.
My wife and I are great fans of Chutney's in the University District. Also, The Taste of India (off Roosevelt Ave NE), which I think is family-owned. However, we were quite disappointed with Chutney's on Queen Anne! It appeared as if the restaurant was newly opened and our server was brand new. He really tried hard, but was not acquainted with basic requests like a cilantro and /or tamarind chutney sauce to accompany the Garlic Naan. Our entrees were very dry and came, once again, with no sauce of any kind. I asked for a side of either curry or butter sauce and was brought a cold yogurt mix. My wife's 'Special- of -the-Night' was cilantro chicken. The chicken pieces had a light- green hue which was almost unpalatable to look at. In all, it was a disappointing experience as we were really looking forward to a new Chutney's near the Theatre District. I wish them the very best and I'm sure the restaurant will continue to 'take shape'.
The Chicken Tikka Masala was disappointing, tasted like spicy tomato soup. The Lamb Methi Gosht was excellent as were the nans and bahjis. Good value.
I was looking for Indian food on Queen Ann for a dinner catch up with an old friend and had not been Chutney's on Queen Ann in several years. The service was excellent. They were timely, helpful and attentive. The food was very good although my friend asked for mild spice on her lamb dish and it was spicier than my medium spice on my chicken dish. We were very comfortable in a booth and appreciated the quite atmosphere so we could talk and hear each other to catch up. There were some extra chairs by the front door with worn upholstery on the seat that did not make a positive first impression however the overall décor is fine. I would recommend it as place for very good Indian food with excellent service, especially when seeking a restaurant where you can have a conversation.
We ended up going somewhere else because this place was closed.
