Clyde's of Georgetown
Clyde’s is one of my all time favorites. Was visiting the area and decided to stop in for lunch with my daughter who had never been before. So glad we did - it was wonderful as always. We were seated right away. They held a booth for us as I had requested. The menu was wonderful. Our food was outstanding (french dip and crab cake). The service was impeccable. A perfect lunch. Highly recommend Clyde’s!!
I had a good experience before, so I went back but the menu had changed and I was disappointed this time. The steak was not done right and bit too tough. We felt the server was bit condescending, slow, and precise. I don't think I will go back unless someone really wants to. We all wanted to go to this restaurant because we enjoyed it before, but this visit ruined it all for us.
Great food, nice ambiance. Good for a first date. Nice drink selection.
Food and service was excellent. Prices better than average and a wonderful location. Finally a restaurant where you can carry on a conversation as well.
We went there every Tuesday night in '97 to hear Sean Michael Dargan play. Everything is just as good now, but we miss SMD!
Took 20 minutes to get our table although we had a reservation but our waiter was unreal and super accommodating and the food was incredible
My second visit to Georgetown Clyde’s, even though I arrived before reservation time there was almost no delay for seating, quick turnaround on drink request, Crab Tower as good as I recall from last visit. The vibes are perfect, prices seem reasonable, the only hint at anything that wasn’t great was the task of making a reservation by using my cell phone, seemed awkward compared to phoning in. I expect to return.
We had the two Maine Lobster specials. The lobster was fresh and the recommended wines were excellent pairings. A very loud table next to us shouting with laughter made it difficult to talk for a few moments but it was a great evening.
The food was not up to Clyde’s usual standards. Had a salad with salmon. Dressing absolutely tasteless and salmon was not the freshest.
Lovely restaurant - something for everyone on the menu.
Good food with brilliant service . The lobster shepherds pie was a real highlight.
Excellent food! Friendly waiter and bartender! Great atmosphere. Attractive prices. All fantastic!
We had a reservation, and got there a bit early, but they sat us. This is the only nice thing I can say about the restaurant.
The table was set and ready. However, all our napkins, glasses and silverware were not clean. They had been cleaned but there were food particles in the glasses, and there were fingerprints on the glasses. Additionally, there were at least three tables near us that had not been bussed and weren't bussed while we were there. Therefore, there was old food and dirty plates on tables around us. We sat there for at about 10 minutes without anyone coming to our table. We decided to time another 5 min on our phone and if we weren't waited on we would leave. Guess what we left.
Service just ok. One meal came out way earlier than the other 3. The rice bowl was not very good
We had a wonderful experience at Clyde's and we will definitely be back!
Great food, excellent service. Would recommend to go there.
Definitely a plus. Good food, pleasant atmosphere, great service. Prices are reasonable and portions are well-rationed. Would recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind lively, loud atmosphere. Only criticism is I would like more vegetarian meals on the menu.
It was awesome. My husband loved his steak so much he spoke to the chef in person.
TIP: Avoid the back room/solarium if you want privacy, romance and/or a relaxing meal. After initially being seated there, I asked the host to re-seat us in the main part of the restaurant. 100% different feel. Our server, Heyner, was fun, friendly and attentive. The staff worked as a team to serve drinks, entrees & refill water glasses. Excellent cocktails and a great wine selection. Food, presentation & pacing was perfect. We balked at dessert because we were craving ice cream and our server got extra points for pointing us to an ice cream shop a few blocks away. Hope we don't get him in trouble for that, but appreciated his sincere recommendation. That's the kind of thing that will bring us back to Clyde's.
The service was incredible, I went twice in the same week. Server from earlier in the week recognized us, it was wholesome.
Very nice restaurant with good location in Georgetown
We had a very nice time at Clyde's.
Good food with good background music. very friendly service Good food and good value for money. Good option if you are strolling around Georgetown
Great food, great service. Family had a delicious meal while visiting Washington DC.
I love Clydes, been many times. However our experience this time was not great. Server often forgot about us in the corner. I told the restaurant it was my mom birthday and no one did anything. ... I told the server hostest and it was on my reservation booking.
My salmon burger was burnt and the fries were soggy.
Great as expected.
Beautiful setting, walking in we were impressed as the restaurant is fully adorned with brass and glass. However, that is all Clyde’s has going for it, Service was sub par and our waitress spent all of her time texting at the station and ignoring her customers. Never came back to check on us after somebody else delivered our food to ask if we wanted something more to drink. Food was nothing special and they we out of items. We were there for a relaxing dinner after a long day of moving our daughter into Georgetown. Relaxing was not an option as Their music of choice for the dinner crowd at 8:00 was AC\DC and the like. Skip Clyde’s and just go to Martin’s it’s by far the best.
Service was soooooo slow. We had to ask for half our meals to go, and the ended up coming after we were almost done with our meals they delivered!!! The waitress was oblivious or absolutely just didn’t give a hoot!!
Amazing service! The food was great and we didn’t have to wait!
The food was great. I shared an order of mussels with my son and we both ordered the scallops for dinner. Our server KIa was charming and efficient. I’m planning to go back.
Amazing experience. Food and and drinks were fantastic. Would definitely recommend
I’m loathe to ever write negative reviews, and very rarely do, but:
Dirty bread plate
Stained table cloth in four different places
Table next to us (approximately ten inches away) was un-bussed, and remained un-bussed, until after our desert arrived. (Out of the ten or so tables in our area, six remained un-bussed also.
Both wine glasses were dirty and stained; took over four minutes to replace the glasses (I took the dirty glasses to the bar, golf was on TV, then a thirty second commercial, then another, then a one minute commercial, and then more golf) - HOWEVER, was given to fresh pours of wine.
Food was good. Not bad, but not amazing either.
Desert was ok.
Service was adequate, but did see the waitress in a very animated discussion with what was presumably a manager (before she had introduced herself to us)
Ambience was fine, place seemed fairly clean, staff was nice.
Look - one or two minor things is reasonable... this was a litany. Maybe we caught them on a bad day.
Clyde’s continues to offer Georgetown the variety of American fare. Good value. Interesting entrees. Consistently served.
We were traveling to DC for a conference. I found Clyde's website and thought it would be great. They advertised locally sourced products and a nice wine list. The service was good, most of the food was good. However one of our group's shrimp dish had a medicinal smell, or a soapy smell to it. They took it off the bill, but no manager came over to apologize. As the person who made the reservation I was embarrassed for our guests. I sent an email that was not returned. The next time we travel to DC I will find another restaurant.
I visited Clyde’s for restaurant week. I initially ordered the steak frites and it was delivered cold. They gladly replaced it with the salmon with corner fritters which I brought home because my guest was also finished with her dinner. The calamari and zucchini chips were excellent although my guest thought were too salty.
Per Izzy's excellent suggestion, I had the lentil mushroom burger. While I like lentils, and I like mushrooms, I've never been a big fan of veggie burger. This one was excellent. In lieu of the excellent Clyde's French fries, I had a delicious garden salad.
As always we can depend on a great meal with great service at Clydes-a favorite Georgetown restaurant!!
Perfect, as always.
