Coast Bar & Grill – Charleston
Cashew Encrusted Grouper
Roasted fingerling potatoes & green beans, cilantro pesto cream sauce, dusted with cashews & peanuts
We were fortunate to dine at Coast Bar & Grill the final night before the state shut down all restaurants due to Covid-19. We had a wonderful meal and when they are able to re-open we recommend them. Sad that people can't enjoy them now, but this too shall pass. When it does, go celebrate at Coast Bar & Grill!
Traditionally great seafood. Portions were so large I had to take a box! The mixed grill and the Tuna were great as was the Fried Green Tomatoes. Server Carla recommended a great wine- thank you!!
Loved this restaurant. Food was fresh and delicious. Great kids menu. Great space. Loved that it was tucked into an ally.
Average meal. Steak overcooked. Grilled fish didn’t have much “grilled” flavor. Waiter was not the best. Just average.
This was a pleasant surprise as we had not been here before and kind of shose Coastal randomly. The ambiance and food were a pleasant surprise. I really liked the blowfish lighting. LOL
Really cool place! Tucked right in the corner near king street, it’s got such a cool atmosphere and vibe. Don’t go expecting anything other than seafood, that’s all they got! Not a problem with me, I would love to go again!
Nice seafood place near the Music Hall. Great for a quick bite before a show. If you like Thai-like flavors, try the seared rare tuna.
Hostess not very nice, but waitstaff were excellent.
Very enjoyable atmosphere and food. Mahi Mahi was fresh and beautifully cooked.
Sunday night half price bottles of wine was a very pleasant surprise.
Dinner was very good! Everyone was aware of our anniversary as greeted us with congratulations. It was nice and complimentary champagne was a great touch. Both of our entrees were excellent and the night was a great evening
Coast was beautifully decorated and had amazing food. Tucked away in a little alley in a beautiful ivy covered building.
Fresh seafood and delicious drinks made this a 5 star experience for us. The bread made in house is delightful!
Food was good. Service was great! A little loud. A little overpriced but that is to be expected in a tourist town.
This was our first time to Coast. We were looking for a casual and relaxing restaurant to dine with our grandson at college in Charleston. The restaurant is very large and the atmosphere/decor borders on tacky beach and could use a major update. We would not go there for a romantic date night. That said, it was perfect for our needs and the food and service was really good and well priced. Definitely would recommend the bacon wrapped scallop appetizer. Some reviewers complained about the burnt flavor of some of the dishes, but to us it was more of a real on the grille taste. We would go back again for a casual meal.
Always a great place to eat dinner.
We really enjoyed our meal at Coast - It's going to make eating at our hometown restaurants so disappointing. The restaurant was very convenient as it was really close to the Music Hall.
Food was delicious!
Excellent service and seating is great with a reservation.
The calamari was delicious and the cashew crusted grouper was acceptable. HOWEVER, the oysters in the oysters Rockefeller were invisible AND the $31 seared tuna consisted of two ice cold "hunks" drenched in soy sauce. Before I had hardly finished half of my meal, the waiter was clearing the other plates and tossed down the dessert menu. The noise level was totally unacceptable. We live in Mt. Pleasant and never plan to visit Coast again nor will I recommend the restaurant to any of our friends.
I dined here twice in one week as my first experience was not good. The chefs special was disappointing flavor profile but the fish both nights was good.
The service was bad the first night as I arrived just before a large group and never got a second drink or bill until 30 minutes after finagling my meal. The second night was better, but still average compared to the other dinning experiences in Charleston.
Great menu and our server was so nice.
We really enjoyed Coast Bar & Grill....food, atmosphere, service...were all great. Was well worth the walk in the rain for sure! We will return.
Excellent fresh, local fish prepared perfectly! Roasted vegetable plate had great variety.
Our 47th anniversary. The service was excellent and our server was so kind to offer us complimentary drinks to celebrate. Lovely atmosphere
What a pleasant surprise to find this gem! We love seafood & oysters Rockefeller so came here after reading other reviews. The oysters were among the best we have had...wonderfully seasoned & perfectly cooked. I had the mixed grill special & hubby had blackened swordfish. Both home runs! Service was attentive & we loved the atmosphere. Walking down the brick path to enter the restaurant was a special experience architecturally as well. We note that there were several other restaurants in this courtyard & this was by far the busiest. We highly recommend. You will not be disappointed!
Food was burnt and all you could taste was the heavy grill marks from the wood grill. Server was inattentive and rude. When told of salmon allergy laughed and the comment "never heard that one before". We wont be returning anytime soon.
Coast is our favorite restaurant in Charleston. Always delicious, great service, and fresh food!
Food was freshly prepared and well
Presented. Wait staff was very attentive
Very good! Great server and interesting entrees. Very pleased!
Our server Dustin was amazing! On top of everything, friendly & professional! Best waiter we’ve had in a long long time!
Scallops, grilled grouper, salmon, mussels all enjoyed by our table. Disappointed bread pudding was not available on a Friday night, but key lime pie was good.
Great food! Great service! Great ambience! We definitely be back
We enjoyed some of the best grilled seafood that we have ever enjoyed. The service was great and we had a very enjoyable evening.
Food was mediocre & overpriced, wasn’t “romantic” as we were led to believe, table was uncomfortable and the service was average. Wasn’t worth the visit, better restaurants in Charleston.
Our waitress was so nice we didn’t bother to complain. We weren’t coming back. Apparently someone had a meltdown in the kitchen so the food was really slow coming out. The swordfish was thin and overcooked and the garlic butter was too solid to use. The scallops were undercooked. Cocktails were underwhelming including a mule in a glass instead of the copper mug. Sorry Charlie
Hi Gary, we would like to follow up with you directly. Can you please email us directly at marketing@holycityhospitality. We apologize for your less than exceptional experience and look forward to making it right.
Great place for fresh seafood. The salads are also fresh and tasty
Perfect anniversary dinner. Always our go to restaurant when we visit Charleston. Never a bad meal or bad service. Buffalo shrimp to die for and the most tender flat iron steaks. Wish I could have dinner there again tonight.
Met an out of town friend for dinner that we had not seen in years, so there was alot to talk about. The food is always great but I was particularly pleased with the service tonight. Alex seemed very attuned to us being in "catch-up " mode and did a great job being attentive but never making us feel rushed or interrupted. Thank you!
Fried fish was overcooked and very greasy. Manager was kind and gave us few more oysters that weren’t overcooked but very greasy. The service was good. The key lime pie was good. Really was a horrid meal.
