My wife and I spent our 31st Wedding Anniversary in Charleston and dined at Coast Bar & Grill. Food and service was great!
The fish tacos were sent back - inedible because they were so fishy. The crab and scallops ceviche was almost all scallop and not very flavorful. Would not order it again. Very disappointing. Shrimp cocktail was made of several small blackened, overcooked shrimp. Again disappointing. Fresh oysters were very good however and the server was very nice and attentive. Just expected more from a restaurant that advertises it has the freshest seafood in Charleston. Would not recommend unfortunately.
Nice atmosphere.. service was a bit slow. Food was just okay
The food and service were both phenomenal! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and experience overall.
Loved it across the board!
Highly recommended and excited to return
The food was delicious! Everyone was so friendly and they made sure to wish my husband a happy birthday. It was an AMAZING dining experience! We will be back!
Very nice dinner spot that seems to be bouncing back from COVID challenges.
The food was outstanding and the serving size was well worth the money. Enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and live music. The music was just right not to loud and not to low. The wait staff was very accommodating and you even had the feelings as if you were friends by the time you left. I would highly recommend Coast Bar & Grill to anyone in the Charleston area. It is our first choice after spending the weekend in Charleston
Great restaurant in a difficult to find alley location
Great atmosphere, great service and very good food. Disappointed that cashew encrusted grouper is no longer on menu. We have gotten this dish many times over the years.
Dark dingy Food was ok. We were celebrating our 38th wedding anniversary, informed the restaurant but no recognized. Disappointed will not return or recommend.
This was hands down the best food we had while in Charleston. The "Coast Crab Soup" was the best we've ever had. I could eat the "Shrimp and Bay Scallop Penne" everyday!
Great food, amazing service! We will be back again!
If you sit outside it is nice. Service, like the food is what you would get at a chain restaurant.
Great food and outdoor seating, server was meh
The food and service were both good! Please bring back the Paella.
Delicious food and excellent service! We always enjoying coming here when in the Charleston area.
Good food, great service, a little pricey but had a good time.
Food was good. Our server could not have been less personable. It was if we were bothering her by being there. Booths were uncomfortable
Service was great! However, the wood fires entrees were charred and overcooked.
Outstanding entree of wood fire grilled swordfish, oysters on the half shell appetizer, and carrot cake - garnished with whipped cream and a raspberry coulis (I think) in a generous portion.
Service is professional yet friendly; my server knew how to present and serve a bottle of wine. The manager came over to check on me, and follow up with the kitchen when some oysters weren't properly shucked, which was quickly remedied.
As always Sunday night features the pleasurable sounds of Graham Worley singing and playing Beatles, Dr. John, and Pink Floyd music to name a few faves.
I thought the restaurant's service was great- all the staff members were helpful and friendly. However, I found the restaurant itself very touristy and cheesy. I guess it's a typical Charleston dinner place for every out of town family, but locals should go somewhere else for food.
Love that it's located down a small walkway, off the street. Great bartender, great atmosphere, dinner was excellent. A definite stop every time we are in town.
Delicious seafood and very attentive service from Alora. I highly recommend Coast.
The meal was generously portioned, tasty, cooked as ordered and served by a very conscientious waitress. It was not quite as terrific as the reviews seemed to indicate but all in all it was a pleasant experience.
The setting was neat, we sat in the patio area looking out to the alley/courtyard area which was pretty neat, especially when it started raining. But our food was just okay, unremarkable.
The food was good, though a bit too heavy on butter. My main complaint was the service. We put in appetizers, and the server asked if we were ready to put in the main order. Since this was a special occassion, I made it clear that we had decided, but we did not want our food on top of our appetizer. Though the server assured us this would not happen, our meals arrived while we were only about half way through the appetizers. I don't even know how they got everything cooked that quickly. Within 20 minutes of arriving at the restaurant, we had drinks, appetizers, and our entrees (getting cold while we rushed through our apps). Our server just laughed at how quickly everything was served. I did not feel like this was an enjoyable dining experience, and I would not recommend Coast if you are having a special occassion or want to enjoy a meal as an experience.
Coast was a bit disappointing. We basically dined in an alleyway which very dim lighting.
You could barely see food in on our plate. Luckily we had a few diners nearby as it was
quite dark making it an area of concern for possible robbery etc. Food and service was good. I don’t think we would return again.
Killer service with great recommendations. The braised grouper was amazing.
A friend told us Coast was their favorite place to eat in Charleston so we went. I hope they were just having a bad day because it failed on most everything. Our server from the first moment seemed to be annoyed to be serving us. Took a very long to time get our drinks. When we finished our cocktails our server never asked if we wanted anything else. One of us ordered a salad with Salmon well done. The food arrived and the Salmon was medium rare at best. Our server was nowhere to be found. My friend picked apart the Salmon she would eat. When the server finally arrived she asked if everything was ok and my friend said the Salmon was not as she ordered it. The server seemed like she did not know what to do and just shrugged it off. My friend happened to run into the manager when she was coming back from the bathroom and commented to him about her issue. He did come to the table and offered to give us dessert or drinks but we were done. We appreciated that he took two meals off of our tab. Like I said, hope they were just having a bad day.
Completely mediocre and average. Coast had some significance in our relationship and we were hoping for a nice celebratory evening. Mediocrity ensued, everything was average or below. We shared the reason for our visit ahead of time and there wasn't even acknowledgement from our server/ management the same apathy was applied to the hair in my butter. Overall not a good experience.
Never disappoints! Favorite seafood restaurant in Charleston. Cozy atmosphere.
The grilled fish had a burnt taste. Our other meal was good. The grilled pound cake and ice cream dessert was not good. Pound cake was bone dry and tasted burnt. It was not marinaded in amaretto or anything. Service was excellent.
The food was decent.
Ok choice for our arrival night - good service, so-so food. We both chose fried food entrees, which is not our norm. We should have gone with the grilled fresh fish. Too many seafood options in Charleston to give this restaurant a strong recommendation.
Nice place to visit, cool atmosphere, located convenient in downtown.
Just simply a great place to eat. I thoroughly enjoyed my scallops and shrimp dish and the crab appetizer was very good.
Not as good as expected, especially for the money. For around 35 dollar, I got grilled grouper, mashed potatoes, a juliened squash....barely a step up from hotel buffet food in terms of creativity. Disappointing for sure!
We stopped her for drinks and appetizers. This is a perfect place that's sorta off the main strip.
