Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Merrillville
We always enjoy our time at Coopers Hawk. The tasting room staff, especially Stephen and Carly, are fantastic.
Our server brought a warm white wine. She did correct it, but admitted she knew the first was warm. So why would she have brought it in the first place.
She was nice, just not very attentive.
Do not appreciate check in experience. Reservations for 12.:30, arrived at 12:05. Would not seat us until 12:25. 3 other groups came in with no reservations and were seated ahead of us. How do I know ? Was standing next to desk,when they asked for table for 2 it’s obvious there were no reservations . I finally had to ask to be seated and then was told “oh yes your next” . What a disgrace to this otherwise decent restaurant. This is not the first bad experience I have had at this location, but the 3rd. Same issue, always the seating process and have always made a reservation as you can see by my past reservations. I will not be returning to this business, plenty of other options out there.
Great food and drink. But Noise level is off the chart.

The food was fantastic! I do recommend getting a reservation if it's a weekend night. The service from start to end was steller. They went out of their way for me and I'm on a gluten free diet.

I ordered the filet medallions "medium" and they were over cooked with very little pink in center. Other than that, everything else was delicious.

The Ahi Tuna Sashimi is top notch. Better than actual sushi places. The Wedge Salad is great as well. This months wine, the Orange Muscat, is fun.
Our waiter was super friendly and the food was amazing! I was most impressed by the hostess who had checked us in; she was able to professionally control the line.
I was the second person in line waited to be checked in and a woman had cut in front of me. The second that the hostess was available, the woman tried to get her attention before she was able to assist me. The hostess informed her that she would have to wait in line to be assisted and directed her to the back of the line. I didn’t get her name, but she was great in keeping the lobby in order and assisting everyone in line.

We sat down and the fire alarm started to go off. It was so loud and kept going for well over 5 minutes. Then went off and started again. It was ridiculous. Our waiter disappeared during that whole time then finally came back like 10 minutes later. Was not very impressed with the service or the issue with the fire alarm.
They were running a little behind with reservations but the manager Monica came over and apologized and was great. Then our server Tony was truly outstanding! The food was great, They made it a wonderful experience and evening.

Good food, excellent service
We waited well over an hour for our dinner while other customers who were sat after us had been served their dinner. The kitchen sent out my plate with the wrong potatoes so they decided to wipe the wrong potatoes off my plate and told me I would have to wait for the correct potatoes. My steak was rare and my food was cold. The manager took my wine club bottle off of my bill for compensation. I thought that was ridiculous. My experience was horrible.
I had a really nice time. The waitress was very helpful and kind. I would definitely recommend this location.
I am a wine club member and do enjoy going whenever I can. However, they really need to move to a new space because the tasting room we couldn’t even get into. We had a reservation at 7:15 and showed up at 5:45, Luckily my friends were able to grab a seat at the bar but we had planned to do the tasting room and we’re not able to get in. Unless they start making reservations for the tasting room, that is the only way that might be solved. Otherwise, all the services and food are great!
Cooper's Hawk never disappoints us! The food is amazing and the wine is absolutely wonderful. We have always had great service too. It is one of our favorites!

Visiting from out of town on business, we ate there 3 nights in a row as the whole group enjoyed the food. Tried something new each night and all 3 were great!
Beautiful ambiance. Great wine tasting area. Chef inspired meals paired with an array of wine options. I hope to become a franchisee one day. Servers could be a bit more attentive but overall a great dining experience.
Excellant service food waa outstanding. Sat in a very comfortable booth that felt intimate and easy to have a conversation in. Staff was very attentive and made suggestion for both food and wine that was spot on. Staff was knowledgeable about the food selection.

First we had reservations for 7:30 and got there a little early. About 7:40 we still were not seated which didn't make us happy so we spoke to a manager named Mike, who was dealing with other people with the same problem, and he very professional and polite toll is there was a big group that was there for 4 hrs that they had not planned on. So we had to wait til around 8:00 but Mike to good care of us and our waitress was very knowledgeable and great too.
I always love coming to Cooper’s hawk. We did have to wait an hour for our table even with having reservations but it was a Saturday night and very busy. The manager was very nice and offered us a complimentary app without us complaining. That was appreciative. This was mine and my husbands first date night in two years and we reLly enjoyed our dinner.
The food, wine and service were very good. The biggest problem with Coopers Hawk is the wait time. We had a reservation for 6:45 and did not get seated until 7:10. This is not the first time weve experienced this kind of delay with a reservation. If they can fix that problem, we would be there more often.
Everything was great except for the fire alarm that went off in the restaurant. It was only for about 5 min but it was extremely loud and our server did not acknowledge that it occurred. People were acting like this was a norm.
Fire alarm went off while we were dining & somehow our order got kicked out of the system so we waited a long time for our food. Very disappointing date night.

We visit Coopers Hawk quite often. I will have to say that on this particular night the food was a bit off. It lacked flavor and was rather salty. As always the service and wine was good. I will say that our service this time was on the charts excellent! I wish I could remember our servers name because she did an excellent job!!!!!
