The entres are tasty, but smallish. I got the scallops $36 which come with just a bit of slaw beneath them. They were delicious and cooked nicely, but they’re probably not going to fill you up.

The service was really poor. It was like eating in an airport restaurant. Very impersonal. They treat people like “one-offs” who will never return.
We got very little attention after we ordered. Long wait just to get bread. Swordfish and steak were undercooked. Didn’t get much of an apology.
Food quality was good. But prices are very high versus other high end restaurants in the area. To justify those prices, at a minimum they need better service.
We’ve eaten at several high end restaurants in Manchester area. This one is the worst.

The dinners were excellent. However, I was surprisingly disappointed by the caesar salad. For the prices at this restaurant, I expected a fresh lemon juice and olive oil dressing and perhaps freshly shaved or grated parmesan. The caesar I got had parmesan from a bag, creamy dressing from a bottle and was as ordinary as it might be from a chain steak joint. A good, top quality caesar salad is not that difficult or time consuming to create. At a place with these price points, I was expecting much more in a simple caesar salad.

After several great dinners at CG, my parents and I returned for lunch. The table next to us had printed menus, but they told us to use the QR code menu. My dad ordered a well done burger, but it came out more or less still rare and nearly still moo’ing. My mom and I ordered soup, which was an $11 half cup of what I can only describe as cold and flavorless soup and topped with stale popcorn. No bread. No salad. The waitress was polite at first but quite rude after the initial welcome. Won’t go back.

One word, awful. The service was terrible. First my daughters meal was ordered with drinks. It came after the apps and the chicken was burnt. While we were eating the apps the flies with insane! We were getting eaten alive! The meals came…my salad was missing chicken and then the charged me $1 for dressing. Is this a joke??? We waited forever and no one came by. Then we asked for our check. Waited another 10 minutes and I took the bill to the hostess stand. The guys took it and gave it to the waitress. I complained and explained I’ve stayed at many many Kimptons and this was awful! The hostess told me it wasn’t their fault, they were not staffed. My retainer was limit your capacity then. He then argued with me that you can’t be cause it in a hotel. I said not my problem. I then looked that the lady who had been waiting forever to be seated and said don’t waste your money. This was an awful experience. She left.

It took a long time to get our beverages and the host ended up being the one waiting on us. The food came out quickly but our the meat in our reuben sandwiches was so overdone I thought it was brisket. It was extremely expensive and not worth the value at all.

We take great pride in rectifying orders for guests, and would have gladly taken care of the item if we knew time of. There for breakfast/brunch. 6 people in party. In formed after ordering that a couple items not available. Had to reorder so 2 meals arrived after other 4. Not a huge gap but could have been avoided.
Food ws OK but nothing special. Avacado Toast - slices of unripe avocado.Eggs Benny - english muffins not warm but not toasted. Coffee was watery.

We were shocked by the price of our two margaritas - $46 total and they weren't that good! We enjoyed our meal and the service was good but their drinks charges are ridiculous.

Started with house cocktails and a cheese platter and Brussels sprouts., followed by a delicious dinner of swordfish and salmon. Great service and wonderful ambiance. Love to keep coming back here again and again. It never disappoints!

First there were not enough wait staff to service all the people who were having dinner. It was terribly buggy- flys and little gnats that you had to swat away as you tried to eat. We asked for a candle but they didn’t have any!? Not an enjoyable evening!

The dinner I had may have been the best I’ve ever had. Scallops cooked to perfection, with black rice and charred, fresh baby vegetables. Extraordinary.

Mistake with lunch order not being sent to kitchen so took a long time. Manager was terrific about it though. Made us a to go package. Food was quite good!

Food was not great for the price. Cocktails were good. Burrata was good. Pork chop was good. Swordfish was undercooked and didn’t taste like maple. Creme brûlée was scrambled eggs.

The clam chowder was good, but I ordered steamed clams for dinner and it was the large quahog clams, not steamers. They were too tough to eat and flavored with too many spices. The ceviche was under prepared. My husband had the pork chop and it was cooked well and was juicy and tender but again, too many flavors on the plate. Everything was over spiced including the dessert.
The server was great and we weren’t charged for the horrible clams so he was very professional.

Best meal of 2021 so far. Incredible food and presentation. The corn chowder was sweet with the perfect amount of crunch from the corn. Heirloom tomatoes with the burrata were perfectly salted. Pork chop was moist and had the right amount of char. Can’t wait to come back here and try more of the menu…it was a tough decision because everything sounded amazing.

We’ve been going to the Taconic and Copper Grouse since it opened and it’s never disappointed. There have been a few different chefs over the years but the food has been consistently good. On this past visit, post COVID, the menu seemed a little sparse and there was a spice or Asian flair to most of the menu, sad to say not as good as the past but still good. The Grouse is very expensive in or out of COVID but for us it’s worth it. Great service, ambience inside or on the porch and of course you’re in VT. I would highly recommend a stay a the Taconic and at least dinner at the Grouse. Enjoy!

We’ve eaten here off and on since the hotel has opened. Unfortunately, the food taste and quality have declined over the year and this was our worst experience yet. Our group had the smoked pork ribs, which were the only halfway decent tasting food we had that night, but the baked beans were a big cakey blob that was dry and had no flavor. The coleslaw looked like it was leftover from the day before and the cabbage lacked any texture or flavor. I ordered a salad with medium rare salmon. It came out with chicken. I had finished my salad before the salmon came out. It was well done and tasted horrible. I couldn’t eat it. We made a comment about the food to our server, but no comment, just a pause in what he was attempting to tell us at the time. A very disappointing experience, and we have written this place off as a dinner choice going forward.

This was the second time for dinner. The first time was last July, mid-pandemic. The service and the food then was far superior to tonight, sorry to say. My halibut was undercooked and my husband’s filet was “ok” but not worth the price. (Although the presentation was lovely.) Also, the menu listed prime rib as a special, but had not been updated to remove it from several days ago. I requested a Gibson martini, but the bar doesn’t stock cocktail onions. Seriously? The mushroom-barley soup was very good and the rhubarb/raspberry crisp was outstanding. Alas, we never got our coffee and had to ask to have the bill adjusted. The server never apologized for the error! For $200+, I don’t think we’ll be returning any time soon.

We had two dinner. Food was very good except for halibut which tasted defrosted and over cooked. Service was excellent both times although kitchen was quite slow the first night. Waitress last night was just terrific
