Pork shank disappointing from previous visits. Filet Mignon Bland!
The food and service were OK, but not on par with previous experiences.
An excellent dinner and service. We were disappointed with menu changes and no wonton chips served with tuna tower. Correcting these would make rating 5 star.
One of our favourite places in the valley. Consistently good.
Excellent evening for a birthday celebration.
Very good food and service. Quite enjoyable night considering that it was my birthday and they gifted me with a chocolate cake slice. Nice touch!
The food quality was extraordinary. We really enjoyed our visit and will go back.
Marvelous gracious professional service. Nice wine list with good range of prices. We loved the Caesar salad, braised pork shank, and ricotta dumplings. It was a great place to talk, enjoy great food with friends, and end a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. Bravo. We'll be back.
My family and I ate at Cork Tree on Saturday and it was less than sub par. We've been many times before and had a wonderful experience with both food and ambiance. We went back tonight, only to find out they have a new chef. My husband and father ordered the Cioppino and I had the Lamb shank. We were told that although there were many changes to the menu with the new chef, those two dishes remained the same. That was completely incorrect. The cioppino has a totally different base (not nearly as good or flavorful), and the fish they used was like a cheap version of the old one. Huge disappointment since this is one of the more expensive items on the menu. I got the lamb shank and it had very little flavor and was just totally lacking. Last time I had it with the old chef it was delicious. Sad to say, but one of our previously favorite restaurants is officially off our go to list. Won't be going back any time soon.
We always enjoy Cork Tree, they have excellent food and service, and it's a nice atmosphere. Friday night was a nice dinner out for my mom and me, our Thanksgiving Dinner a night delayed. We both enjoyed it thoroughly.
excellent venue for nice quiet dinner with spouse or with friends. food is excellent and they have great wine list. be prepared to spend 10-20% more on your dinner than you would expect, but if that is OK with you, this is a great choice.
You must try the delicate but creamy rich goodness of the ricotta dumplings! The marinara sauce was perfect and not overpowering. I will order again and again.
The Cork Tree is our #1 choice for dining in the desert.
The filet mignon was good and the scallops were excellent.
Perfect evening to eat outside. Such good service, excellent food. Pricey but worth it for a special night out. Really like the option on OpenTable to select outdoor seating, too.
We’ve been going to Cork Tree for many years. We love it, but would like to make some suggestions.
The Dining menu needs a change up. I know they have specials, but duck, lamb, free range chicken, loch salmon have been there forever.
Also, the overall tab gets quite expensive, how about more wines by the glass that are under 10/12$
Bar menu is fab, wish we could order off of it in the dining room.
We’ll be back!
Restaurant was a little noisy as we were seated next to a fundraising event.
My wife ordered seabass and when it came, you couldn't cut it with a knife and obviously it wasn't flaky at all, like good fish. They did agree, and cooked another dinner portion for my wife. My steak was a bit tough. They did offer us a free desert! But, at $186.00, not so good.
Birthday dinner it was fabulous. Service ,food over the top
Very generic restaurant with nothing unique but basic, quality food and limited atmosphere.
Bye - Bye Corktree!
As Palm Desert residents of some 30 years, Corktree was one of our favorite places to dine. Had one of the best 'happy hours' in the desert - many times 'SRO' ... not anymore! The owner needs to remove the new chef ... or at least take time to review and APPROVE the menus.
Very good food and excellent service.
Great celebration night out. Everything was delicious . It was efficiently served and allowed us to enjoy a leisurely meal with good friends.
My wife and I dined here many times over the years and always had an amazing experience, but our visit last weekend was disappointing. The food was bland and the wedge salad was 4 pieces of iceberg lettuce with 2 cherry tomatoes. The waiter informed us that they acquired a new head chef. Many favorite menu items were gone. Salmon was salty. Sad because we loved this place, but with so many dining options in the area they will need to step it up.
Excellent food and service by Emilia as our server. Great evening
As always, outstanding. The new chef will continue to make the excellent standards and create his own new dishes!
From our server, Heather to our departure, the evening, food excellent.
We were celebrating a birthday and the cake/dessert were beautiful.
We took a bottle of wine and corkage was only $20.
Great place for a special occasion, and get one of their curved booths, excellent for conversing.
Service is friendly and attentive. The shrimp and crab cakes appetizer was outstanding. Unusual preparation with a tomato compote. Definitely going to repeat that.
Entrees were delicious. They are high on their seafood stew. It is solid.
The menu has at least 3 more appetizers and three entrees we are anxious to try. We will be returning.
The atmosphere is upscale. It is convenient to the JW Marriott resort. It's probably the best place in the general area. Food was okay but not the highlight.
Joshua was the best waiter we have had in awhile anywhere in the desert. Food, ambiance and service all very good. Only ding is it’s pricey. You get what you pay for!
Outstanding cuisine and service... would highly recommend it!
Always a great experience! Food and service excellent!
The revised menu is a disappointment. We’ve ordered escargot every time we’ve been there. Never again, the new prep is not the same. The lamb price is ridiculous. Generally the experience was a disappointment and while we may return it won’t be with nearly the frequency of the past.
We always have dinner here when we are in Palm Desert. We were not disappointed. I had duck and guests had scallops. Both were memorable. Chocolate lava cake topped off a delicious meal. Waiter was helpful, attentive and friendly.
Cork tree was one of our preferred restaurants and used to go at least once every fifteen days, our favorite was the escargots... not anymore, we could tell since our arrival that the place was empty (always was packed), when we left it was barely half of the tables occupied.
Needless to say that the new Cheff (5 star Michelin as they announced) was not comparable to Brian. We also ordered Ricotta dumplings and ended up on a plate with nothing but ricotta with some tomato sauce, never found a dumpling in two orders we asked.
The manager came to our table at the end knowing we had some issues and when I told her about the escargots, she debate with me instead of just a sorry about not liking them, not nice manners for a table that already showed dislike during their dinner.
The rest of the food was good, nothing spectacular, so sorry we’ll miss coming back.
Overall we enjoyed it very much. Large Caesar salad was so small it made us laugh.
Fabulous food! In our group we had the lamb, sea bass and salmon. All dishes were perfectly prepared. We sat outside, it was a delightful evening. The wait staff was attentive but not intrusive.
Opening nite of the season. Not a good experience. Kitchen apparently struggling with new personnel. Only 4 scallops that were so tough my wife could only eat 2. The choppino had a different heavy tomato sauce and was skimpy on sea food. Main course took long time to come out. Compared to previous meals there, this was a big disappointment, particularly for my 80th. Service and ambiance was good. Don’t know whether we’ll go back, certainly not on opening nite.
There isn't anything that stands out about Cork Tree - the food was okay, but very pricey for just okay food. It is nice that you can get a half order of a salad as a starter. Other than that, it was a very forgettable meal, but because we dined with friends, we had a good time anyway.
