Best Mexican Restaurant Outside of Mexico (Culinaria Mexicana 2025) #43 The 50 Best (North America) #24 Canada's Top 100Located off the beaten path in the heart of Outremont, Alma is an intimate 20-seat restaurant showcasing modern Mexican cuisine with authentic techniques and flavours combined with local QC ingredients. It is operated Chef Juan Lopez Luna et sommelier/importer Lindsay Brennan. Alma offers a tasting menu experience inspired by the concept of "mar y montana", influenced by Juan's childhood memories of central Mexico, and time spent in Oaxaca. Lopez is one of the few chefs in Canada working with heritage corn from Mexico, grinding fresh masa each morning. The tortillas are made by hand with his grandmother's tortilla press. The wine list highlights sun-kissed Catalan wines from a group of winemaker-friends that Brennan imports directly to QC from Barcelona. Alma is the Canadian destination for Catalan wines - with a deep cellar of back vintages.
