Please note that the duration of sittings prior to 7pm will be just under 2 hours. This allows us time to adhere to appropriate cleaning and sanitisation of tables before our next guests arrive. Please ensure you arrive at the time of your reservation, as seating is limited and there may not be any space if you arrive earlier. If you are however running late to your reservation, please call us as we only hold tables for 15 minutes. Be aware that the seating in our venue comprises of low tables, counter tops and bar seating. Please note bookings of two are generally sat along a bar or counter top, not a low table. Tomodachi Izakaya & Bar on Little Malop Street in the centre of Geelong is a tribute to the corner bars of Tokyo, with a focus on japanese tapas and warm dishes mates that come off it. That results in top-notch pork belly, beef and chicken thighs for the meat-eaters and salmon, prawns and scallops for the fish fans as well as beancurd and vegetables for the vegetarians. Aside from the grill, there is also an astounding array of sushi and sashimi dishes, octopus pancake balls, salt and pepper squid, alongside dessert options and a long cocktail menu that befits all the best, boozy backstreet izakaya joints in Japan. Take trip into Geelong town centre for a Japanese meal to remember at Tomodachi on Little Malop Street – just remember to book your table before you arrive, as they do get crowded.

    Don't be fooled by the rustic appearance - the food here is absolutely superb. Every serving was generous and delivered flavour in spades. We were a party of seven, so we ordered a LOT and there wasn't one morsel left behind. The wine list was rather ordinary, but we wre happy to learn that it's BYO wine as well, with a $10 corkage. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food came out quickly. We'll definitely be back!

    Enjoyed the winter full set. The stand out flavour was the mushroom skewer with an intense but sweet soy sauce marinade and the fresh oyster with citrus jelly. Everything tasted good and the service was attentive.
