Another fantastic experience! Food and staff are exceptional.

Food was excellent. Sushi was so fresh and the rolls were flavorful. Drinks were excellent too.

We did the tasting menu with wine pairings. Including tax and tip it came to $300pp. We sat at the bar and were able to watch the staff at work. The service was outstanding as was the food. A variety of Peruvian small dishes that included fish, beef, potatoes, yucca, and dessert. Wine pairings were well chosen. They certainly deserve the James Beard and Michelin recognition they have received.

DC has some exceptional restaurants right now, but our experience at Amazonia this week was truly a cut above. Every course was distinctive, beautifully executed, and memorable. The food drove the conversation at our table, which is no small feat given the wide range of palates and preferences in our family. Dish after dish, everyone agreed that the flavors, combinations, and presentation were remarkable. The Scallops a la Parmesana appetizer could easily have been a full meal, and we will return for that dish alone. The Pulpo al Josper was unique and interesting in the best possible way. The fish of the day, prepared in banana leaves, was a major hit, as was their famous Lomo Saltado. The Bluefin Tuna Akami from the fish market menu may have been the most impressive and delicious sashimi presentation we have ever had. The General Manager, Dimitri, could not have been more hospitable. He spent time with our table—and clearly with guests throughout the dining room—sharing the chef’s vision, explaining the stories behind the dishes, and thoughtfully answering more questions than he probably had time for, despite an unsurprisingly packed Tuesday night. The entire front-of-house team was welcoming, polished, and professional, and our server was a true pro. Amazonia is now at the top of our list in DC for bringing friends and family, and we are already planning a date night at Causa.

The food was amole and absolutely delicious and the service thoughtful, warm, and welcoming. This is a very special place — so beautiful and comfortable and inviting.
