Eclipse Restaurant - Deerhurst Resort
Food and service very good, although weekend was buffet service, so some limitations in selection, and food tended to be more basic. Ambience marred by 6 months of spiders (live) and webs on the Windows. Wouldn't hurt to have them cleaned more than once a year!
The reservation was cancelled 1 hour before due to staff shortage. The restaurant closed because the staff had to work for 4 weddings. NOT THE BEST WAY TO RUN A RETAURANT.
Went to Friday evening buffet. Was disappointed with the selection provided, not all that tasty.
Marga was our waitress and she was FANTASTIC! There was a large selection of food, it was all delicious and we truly enjoyed the atmosphere!
Disappointed with the quality of the food on the dinner buffet. The BBQ chicken was dry, the beef tasteless and the vegetables listed as “root” vegetables was a combination of zucchini and peppers. The only root vegetable was onion.
I ordered a glass of Chardonnay which came to the table warm. When I sent it back the server returned with another warm glass. I was told that someone had unplugged the fridge and he offered ice. As a bartender if I served that it would be an issue, over $12 for a glass of warm wine. Sorry but not acceptable!
Totally overpriced for what you receive!
Even with a reservation for 9 people, our table was not ready on arrival.
Took over 5 minutes before waitress came to our table.
No complaints about the food.
Some dirty plates sat on table a long time before being picked up.
But it was a Labour Day long weekend and some servers may have returned to school.
I was extremely disappointed in the quality and choices available at the dinner buffet. I expected more from a resort of this caliber and reputation. A bill of almost $200 for a family of 4 was atrocious and left me shaking my head. Strongly suggest the menu be looked at as I am sure we were not the only disappointed dinner guests.
Average food at resort prices. Fair selection. Nothing special. Decent service after being ignored at reception. Had reservations, didn’t need them. During high season. Was expecting better.
Dining while at resort
Poor food quality.
Waaaaay overpriced for what you get.
It was another great experience at the Eclipse. Myself, my wife and son have been going to this restaurant each time we visit Deerhurst and would recommend it to anyone staying at this resort. Food is delicious and lots of options for the little ones. Buffet is the best thing when you have kids so the food is ready to eat. The meat carving station is my favourite and other food options are good accompaniments to the meat. For salad lovers there is enough to diversify your pallet and the dessert station is YUM (as my 5 year old would say). Breakfast is also a hit with the family. Reasonable price and lots to eat to start off your day.
For the price per person very disappointed. Food selection was mediocre . Beef was good as was the au jus but no potatoes and only noticed one vegetable.
I stayed at deerhurst with my boyfriend for his birthday, i work for skyline horseshoe and the food there is amazing but deerhurst was lacking. We had to make reservation and assumed it was going to be a fine dining restaurant, but it was not anything close to that. Kids running around and people wearing casual to dressing down. As well as it is way too over priced for the quality and quantity of food you get. I am very disappointed that it wasn't worth our money or time unfortunately.
Dinner buffet was rather poor. Main choices of chicken thighs, ribs or roast beef. Nothing was very tasty nor good quality. Restaurant is beautiful however. Would recommend breakfast buffet instead.
We found the buffet rather disappointing for the cost...$37.95 pp. The main courses were just ok nothing really special with limited choices . The salad bar was ok. Desserts were rather disappointing. Nothing homemade really and out of certain things by the time we were ready to partake. Would we eat there again? No. Better food in the Maple Leaf pub.
The buffet was absolutely delicious. That night a fish soup was available in a large pot. I had to have seconds it was so good.
Keep up the good quality service..,
An enjoyable evening dinner! Excellent service and tasty food. However for the high price, I feel there should have been a few more food choices.
The pastry chef here is brilliant!
Everything was fresh, delicious and perfectly cooked
Too expensive for options given. Not one pasta dish. Udon Noodles were ok. Should have pizza and healthy options for kids besides Mac and cheese, nuggets and hamburger sliders. Spaghetti with tomato sauce or lasagna or simpler soup besides cream of mushroom. A nice chicken noodle with real veggies and chicken in it or butternut squash or minestrone. Very few vegetables. Just raw carrots celery and a broccoli dish with cheese on it, terrible. Ice cream bar only had ice cream in a styrofoam bowl. Hospitals give those to kids when they get their tonisils out, and u should have a trash for lids etc. Garbage stayed on the table that had sprinkles and choc Sauce. Not a very good fondue either. Couldn’t have been real chocolate. More like syrup from a store shelf.
Waitress was the best. Sooo nice and very attentive. Staff make all the difference but way too expensive for a dinner buffet that lacked options. Hey
We had dinner and breakfast at Eclipse . The roast beef was chewy- my husband couldn't eat his, but the fish and chicken breasts were good at dinner. I did like the potatoes in cheese sauce as well. One criticism- there was no one waiting to slice roast beef, and while my husband waited for someone to arrive-the food already on his plate started to cool down. The selection at breakfast was very good, and service is excellent. We do enjoy looking out at lake, and would return for the breakfast.
Very poor service. When we asked for a menu we were told we could only eat from the buffet because it would take too long to get something off the menu. Buffet was very limited, desserts were similar to what you would find at Walmart (mini cupcakes, two bite brownies, store bought pie, etc). Our server seemed to forget about us and didn’t even visit to refill our drinks. When we finally found her, we asked for our bill and when we still hadn’t received it over 20 mins later, we went to the main desk in the restaurant to request it again. Another server finally tracked down our original server and had her print out our bill. Very poor service, overpriced at almost $40 a person for the buffet, mediocre food at best, and no compensation for horrible customer service. Will never be back and would not recommend to anyone!
|No gluten free main course
Staff was helpful but this a problem for me
Salads pretty good selection
Waitress was terrific
Kids ages 10 & 12 enjoyed the buffet
Fabulous breakfast buffet selection, fresh and ready, with made-to-order items also available. Friendly, attentive staff.
Good Buffett at a reasonable price.Good ambiance ,helpful staff.Excellent choice of dishes. No one will leave hungry and you will end up paying for old fashioned value.
Great food! Always fresh! Orange juice was amazing! We sat outside so it make our breakfast even better!! Totally worth the price.
Very nice and relaxed atmosphere. The appropriate amount of food and selection to please everyone, including the younger children/teens. Do need more hot vegetables though.
Excellent! we came for a birthday the food was good the waitress was good she refilled our water glasses a lot we really liked it, it was good. perhaps put a garbage can by the ice cream station so you can throw out your ice cream lid.
Sunday Brunch is incredible!!!
Well worth the money.
Excellent service...cheerful waitress.
Excellent variety of food on the Sunday Brunch.
Highly recommend the Sunday Brunch!!!
Ambiance, view both great. Food wasn't bad but not what we expected definitely not worth the price. Not much of a variety we were expecting something more then what is was.
Service was exceptional! Food was great too. Would definitely come back again.
It was a buffet and the food was warm, dried out and by the time we went up to the buffet, not much left in the serving bowls. The food was not presented well and one would expect it to be better then you make at home. The service was extremely slow which was surprising since it was not busy. We had to go and look for our server in order to pay the bill. The tables next to us were not cleaned once the customers left. The staff just kept walking by it. Eventually someone showed up and took the dirty dishes away.
Fairly limited buffet - not great value for the cost.
Food was mediocre. Just chicken thighs and pork ribs plus a few side dishes. risotto, broccoli and something else. Not very inspired for $37.95,. Was expecting roast beef and maybe some shrimp. No show. three main salads, nice display of deli meats and cheese and the desserts were delicious. Would we come again to the buffet? Not in the near future. Would prefer the Compass Restaurant, if we dome back.
I was very disappointed. The dinner buffet was terrible, especially for the price. I wouldnt even pay half the price it costs. The breakfast buffet was better. As for dinner, the other restaurants on the resort are much better. I will not return.
Yes, because the service and overall experience was impeccable but the food selection lacked variety and did not taste up to the standards of everything else.
The service is very good. The quality of the food for the price is moderately good. It is not the fault of the restaurant but there are too many rude guests.
Over priced. Small amount of options and terribly dry meat. Needs more staff or at least train the staff that do work there.
We’ve been here many times over the years but this time we were disappointed. There was no enough variety of food and the quality was lacking.
We went to have a nice meal. Food was mediaorcure at best. Waiter was great. However there were screaming kids everywhere that were allowed to run everywhere. Restaurant could have done better job controlling them.
