   Service for special jazzlicious event. Would recommend. Despite sitting in the partial obstructed view area, still able to enjoy the performance and have a lovely evening. Very good specials and offers on wine for the event. Because of the nature of the event, seating and table space was limited - would have preferred an ice bucket to keep our white wine chilled. Other table was offered extra bread to dip their mussels, we were not. Overall food quality was high but average. Nothing special about crab cakes, but a good portion size. Mussels were delicious but not enough bread standard. Crisp truffle fries and flavorful dip. Tangy compote accompanying cheese plate served at correct temperature made this overall a great sharing dish, but again lack of crackers. Would recommend for a casual sit down or event, as overall we had a good time and atmosphere and effort was evident in the overall experience.

   Enjoyed the meal and the following music. Unfortunately, we could hear noise from the bar nearby, which took away from the enjoyment of our concert, but overall, it was an enjoyable evening.

   This was my first visit to Essence. The restaurant was hosting Jazzalicious. Their menu was quite extensive but they also had a Prix Fixe menu for the show at a very reasonable price. The wine list was very good and the prices for the wine were also very reasonable. Our server for the evening was Raul, an extremely knowledgeable and friendly gentleman. All-in-all the evening was wonderful and I am looking forward to going back to the restaurant again.

   At first the wait staff were very attentive. The food was good but very overpriced. As we had already been charged a surcharge for the event I was not pleased to see another extra charge on our food bill. If Markham ias trying to increase tourism this is not the way to do it. My friend and I would not return. Half her order of mussels had not opened but telling a waiter was a waste of time. Not a good advertisement got the chef!

   Made a mistake in booking and ended up with 2 tickets for Wed and 2 for Fri. Needed 4 on Friday and after calling to try to correct, was told no, and no refunds. Did not attend and very disappointed that I was not refunded. Won't be booking through this site again for anything involving tickets.

    wanted seats near stage; or the stage could be raised for better viewing; we were table 38 , I think, right at back Food was amazing , good value, prix fixe menu, house red wine excellent, can Beronia Spanish be bought at LCBO? Overall a great experience! Hope there will be another Jazzlicious soon.

    The salad bar and the dessert bar were one of the best in town. The shrimp of the cold seafood bar were great, and the other just average. The meat table had roast beef and roast lamp leg are up to standard but wasn't at par with the other fine dining or steak house around the area. The egg station was good too. There was only about 5 hot dishes to choose from and the quality are average amongst the hotels around Markham and Richmond Hill. The décor was great accompanied by a singer sings and play piano at the same time. Slightly pricey for the limited choice of food, but if you consider the environment as well, this is still one of the best place to go around the area.

    I went to Essence of Unionville for lunch with my wife on valentines’ day. Both of us were glad to have a break from the kids and could really use some quiet time. We had our wedding at Hilton back in 2019 and choosing Essence of Unionville brought back a lot of memories. The atmosphere was great, it was quiet which was what we needed. The food was amazing as always, although we did have to return a steak that was overdone. We asked for medium rare but it came out to be like medium well. The steak that came back was amazing so it was all good! Everything was great until we decided to grab the bill. The whole process of paying took close to 30 minutes. There was only one staff working. Understandable since it’s at lunchtime on a Tuesday. But 30 minutes seem a little too long. Will definitely be back, I hope the dining experience can be improved next time!

    The service was the most spectacular over anything other thing. The food was decent. There aren’t many choices for buffet in the GTA anymore thanks to the pandemic. This one’s higher end. Beef Wellington was great! I really enjoyed the piano player who sung and played his heart out all day. He’s fantastic! I would bring back family again. I wonder if they change menu items often.

    We were a family of 5 adults and all very much enjoyed the Sunday Brunch. The options were plentiful and the staff were very attentive. The Brunch features live music which is nice for atmosphere but could have been a little quieter. Our group included one vegan who found some suitable options, except for anything on the dessert table. Overall would recommend for those who enjoy buffets.

    Overall, the service, food and environment are good except I find the lobster bisque is a bit salty, salmon and chickens are overcooked. The roasted beef is marvelous. The tables and too close to each other. The price of the Sunday Brunch Buffet is a little bit pricy. It is suggested that there should be a discount for the seniors. Looking forward for improvements!!

    If you want to have a quiet place to chit chat with friends, and have some coffee and tea and desserts, this is a very good place. Remember to write down your car license plate number for free parking.

    We came here for my mom's birthday high tea. The setting was nice and quiet but it was very empty. When we sat down at our table, we were not greeted at all for 10 min until we waved someone over because we were confused about the menu. There was only one waitress on shift and her service felt very hurried. For a $45+tax high tea event, we expected the service to be much more thoughtful. The teapot that the tea was served in looked like any other white teapot you would see at a casual dimsum restaurant. After waiting a while for our food, our savoury items were brought out on a plate instead of a 3-tier stand. Because my parents wanted to take nice birthday photos, we were all very underwhelmed by what we were given. The plate felt like a gathering of assorted items from a buffet. Unfortunately, the sandwiches themselves were as poor as they looked. The bread/mini bagel/croissant were very dry and cold, like they were straight out of a grocery bag. The beef had no seasoning, and only one of the four of us had a little dab of sauce. We decided to talk to the manager to let her know our experience so far, and she seemed understanding. When the desserts came, we were happy to see that they were much more presentable. But the quality was still not what we expected for a $45 high tea set, both savoury and dessert items were not memorable at all. Because we spoke to the manager earlier, she brought out a birthday cake slice for my mom which was nice. Overall, we didn't think the meal was worth $45/person at all so we wanted to try asking for a discount to compensate for our negative experience. In the end, I appreciated that they offered 10% for just my portion but unfortunately everyone else was still full price. Sadly we will not be coming back to dine at Essence Unionville. We hope their quality of food and service will improve to match the price that they are asking.

    The price of the Sunday brunch buffet on the website is not up to date. Although the website has the "sample menu", but that seems to be the only place on the site with the brunch buffet price, and I was surprised when I saw the bill as it has increased quite a bit. Otherwise, the food and experience was great.

    We took a friend for high tea. The serving staff did not have any knowledge about the tea selections. They repeatedly set down the wrong food selections in front of each person, items were forgotten from one person’s sweet tray, they served mouldy grapes, and though we were the only table in the restaurant, and they had 3 servers walking around, we had to search out or flag someone down to place our orders or refill hot water. Some of these points were mentioned to management and they gratefully acknowledged the information. That’s about it.

    My husband and I enjoyed the short ribs. We love our server Barbara who has been there for a long time. The vegetables are fresh and cooked to perfection. A great place for meetings for date night
