Farmer's Bottega Restaurant
$20 corkage is overpriced for the service provided.
Farmer's Bottega has a relaxed feel but the staff is really professional and competent, not stuffy, but again in a relaxed way. The menu accommodates many dining needs, but I want to emphasize the braised meats, beef short ribs, lamb, pork belly, duck, etc. They are well treated and the braising brings out the flavor without masking. Interesting and excellent cocktails, too.
Our go to spot. The food and service are top notch.
excellent food, nice variety. will definitely be back.
like the different options
service very good and attentive without being obtrusive
The food was terrific. I love going to a new place to me for dinner and walking away afterwards feeling it was a great choice. This place did that. My wife enjoyed pasta and I had an exceptional burger with truffle fries.
Service was excellent. But the food was just okay.
We eat in little Italy all the time. This was definitely not one of our better meals or experiences. Food was mediocre and overpriced. Service was chaotic. Noise level was nearly unbearable. Best to just visit for a glass of wine at the bar and eat elsewhere.
The atmosphere was amazing and cozy.... The food was great. I definitely would recommend trying this place out. I would have given the food 5 stars but I only ordered a cheese plate. My coworker enjoyed her food but was a bit taken back by the prawn on top of her pasta.
Lovely neighborhood restaurant— great service, good cocktails and starters.
One of best places in San Diego!
Such great food and service! So glad we went here for dinner tonight!!
Food was fine but nothing special. Despite the restaurant being about half full at the most - and when making a reservation a little before, they had open times all night - our server never came to check on us after taking our order despite chatting with and checking on many other tables. Nor did any other staff after dropping our food (and note, entrees came out separately). Perhaps because we didn’t order any wine (we had a long drive ahead that night back to LA) or because we were a mixed race same-sex couple (the only same-sex couple we saw, tho we were quite close to Hillcrest, and likely the only guest of color tho I can’t be sure about that). Or because our server was just handling more tables than he’s used to - tho it wasn’t busy. Either way, not a place we’d return to.
The service was good. I enjoyed the Portobello burger, friends enjoyed salad w/ salmon and burrito. The food tasted fresh and high quality. Maybe we should have checked out the patio; perhaps a nicer atmosphere.
Staff seemed stressed and unfriendly. Took 10
Minutes for someone to greet our table. They were unapologetic and
we had a fantastic dining experience. the environment was quite and relaxing. the service was great. the food was one of the freshest and most delicious meals we've had in San Diego
Come here often for breakfast and we always have a hard time deciding what to order because everything is so good. The staff is always very accommodating and make adjustments and changes so people get exactly what they want. All seven of us loved what we had. We highly recommend this restaurant. Hats off to Fernando. He always gets our day off to a great start.
Tyler is the best!!
We enjoyed the squash blossoms. Two people had the vegetable risotto which they felt needed more flavor.
The food was outstanding from the chicken to braised beef rib. The homemade bread pudding was exceptional. Our server, Taylor was very knowledgeable, enthusiast, & clearly enjoyed his job which made our experience much more enjoyable. We will recommend to all our friends visiting San Diego. You have to get off the tourist path to find the best food in San Diego. We'll be back next time!
Not Bad, but not great, either. I had hoped for more visiting this newer trendy restaurant in Mission Hills. I met a client for lunch and she had a turkey sandwich and fries while I had the eggs benedict with fruit. My eggs weren't poached as well as they should have been (clear goopy globs sliding out when I cut into them) and they skimped on the hollandaise sauce -- not a drop over the edge of the muffins. The two smallish muffins looked tiny in the plate swimming with the plate of fruit. No garnish, no nothing. I wasn't about to complain in front of a new client, though. Service was fine, no complaints. The setting is pretty with lots of interesting things to look at. Overall, I spent more than I should have on a meal that was "just ok."
Good was terrific the BLT was phenomenal, the pancakes are crazy good as well.
Great food, we sat on the patio -- great vibe, perfect for a family gathering
Very good food. The challenge was deciding what to eat.
Always a very good meal. Very enjoyable.
Stopped in for a family dinner with my wife’s parents before their flight home. Our party of seven was on the large side for the room yet we were comfortable and well cared for. The charcuterie and entrees were top-notch. Overall it was a great evening and I am eager to further explore the menu on our next visit.
We ordered an eclectic selection of dishes and had hits and misses. The fries, fish tacos, and Brussel sprouts were as expected. The pasta special of mushroom ravioli priced at $28 was also as expected but overpriced. The ceviche served with broken chips and a sprig of parsley was a bit sad. The service was fine.
Service? What service? I've eaten here several times (convenient and decent food) and the service has never been good. We ate on the patio and it took 15 minutes to get a server AFTER we went searching for one. He wasn't particularly friendly or welcoming when we finally came nor during the time we were there. I go to their Bay Park location and the service is stellar so why the difference. It's so off-putting that it doesn't matter how good the food is - it was fine by the way.
Great place, great atmosphere, great service. We had a great family time
Our favorite restaurant in Mission Hills! I especially enjoy their Moscow Mule!
Scrumptious, organic local ingredients, good bar scene, friendly service, decorated to create a peaceful outdoor environment when inside. We had gnocchi and a hamburger and both were excellent! we will be eating here again.
The food was incredible and the service was outstanding. We sat on the patio out back which was very quiet and beautiful. We will definitely go back!
I have eaten at this restaurant several times... food and service have alway been very good!
We ate our dinner on the back patio. It was very comfortable and quiet. loved being outside on a warm evening.
A wonderful dinner for my wife and I and two other couples. The short ribs were among the best our dinner companions ever had. We had the spinach pasta and shrimp entree; outstanding! THe coffee and cheesecake with raspberries were excellent as well. The owner was our server (very good)... we had a great evening.
They couldn’t honor our reservation since the front of the house employees weren’t showing up for another 30 minutes. We had to leave and go elsewhere.
The food is always good here. In the summer we like to sit on the patio.
INCREDIBLE omelettes, and the arugula parmesan truffle potatoes are to die for!
Great lunch spot for business meetings. Extensive lunch menu with attention to detail. Service and quality of ingredients were fantastic. Parking for the area was easy and just a nice location.
We were a party of 8 for a birthday celebration. We were seated promptly. All the elements of a great dining experience. Food was served hot for all eight of us. A piece of delicious cheesecake was on the house for the birthday girl!
Great food and great service! Menu was incredible!
