In 1976 local musician and entrepreneur Harvey Platt had the idea to bring a slice of America to Norwich after working for and with the American war machine in South East Asia and a later visit to San Francisco to meeting up with former musician buddies.Harvey had the opportunity to purchase an old café caravan situated on Castle Meadow Norwich next to the old cattle market.Zaks opened in May 1976 serving the now famous chargrilled burgers in the “Original Zaks Caravan” wrapped in tin foil and cooked fresh to order in the American tradition.If it is an authentic American dining experience you are looking for then Zaks is your kind of place.     Our table had a variety of food. For starters, Humus with Lamb was perfect, everyone enjoyed it. The Mirra Plate for 1 is amazing with various types of lamb and chicken, if you’re in doubt, I do recommend this one. If you fancy some seafood, the plate with Seafood Skewers is really good and it comes with a lot of vegetables and salads really well seasoned. Also the Salmon Plate was delicious as always, I’m yet to find a place that beats it. For Drinks, Yakut red wine was perfect and they also serve delicious mocktails. Our servers were so attentive and welcoming, it’s an amazing staff. Food and drinks are also quick. But I do recommend taking your time enjoying the experience.

    My husband and I came across The Gamekeeper whilst we were away for the weekend. We wasn't really expecting much with it being a pub, but we were pleasantly surprised, it was a stunning place and the service was second to none, the food was outstanding, we both had steak and it was the best steak we have ever had. We highly recommend The Gamekeeper

    We came last night for my daughters birthday and was very pleased with the service from the staff We were made aware that there was back lock in the kitchen and we were given complimentary nibbles while we wait The food was amazing

    As always Rudys never fails to deliver, the drip burgers are heaven 😮‍💨 even happy to customise my burger! All staff front of house and chefs are amazing, loving and kind people. Going here for a meal is like going to a family members ! Can’t recommend here enough, thank you for bringing Rudys to town !
