They established their culinary careers in Houston where they worked together for years before creating their own restaurants.Pham and Lee teamed up to bring new curated dining concepts to Houston’s food scene and kicked off a series of omakase pop-up dinners called Secret Taste. Pham and Lee then opened Kokoro in the Bravery Chef Hall in Downtown Houston followed by Handies Douzo in the Houston Heights.Aiko is the newest concept from the team featuring a sushi bar and seated dining.

Nestled in the heart of Houston’s West University neighborhood at 6119 Edloe Street, Maximo is a progressive Mexican restaurant from the Local Foods Group team that combines authenticity and adventure. Nearly everything is done in house under Executive Chef Adrian Torres with mentorship from Local Foods Group Creative & Culinary Director Seth Siegel-Gardner. Nixtamalized tortillas are just the start; corn kernels are boiled, soaked and ground into masa, imparting maximum flavor into a dedicated masa section on the menu featuring sopes, tetelas and even cornbread, along with a list of ever-changing taco options. Shareable plates, from crudos and salads to entrees and desserts, entice guests to explore. The restaurant is open Wednesday through Friday from 4 - 9 p.m. for dinner service, Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. for brunch and 5 - 9 p.m. for dinner service.

    Celebrated adult son’s birthday with family. Appetizers included the charcuterie board and candied bacon - enjoyed their bourbon flight with the seasonal Old Fashioned, Little Rye Lies and the WC Old Fashioned! All entrees were great. Finished with Whiskey Cake and candles!

    The food was delicious. We had pork sticks and cashew chicken. Everything was very flavorful and beautifully balanced. Service was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Overall great experience!!

    We had my girlfriend’s birthday dinner at Maximo and the food was incredible! Very delicious from the appetizers to the main dishes. We had the corn ribs, aguachile oysters, machete de hongos, pork belly carnitas and the taco plate. They were all amazing. Our waiter was great too, I forgot his name but he gave us great recommendations since it was our first time. My lady got the Maximo margarita and another hibiscus drink and she loved them. I had the humble carta blanca for my drink and it was so fresh. Outdoor seating was great, the decorations for dia de los muertos were beautiful. 10/10 experience we WILL be coming back!!
