Field's at the Wilderness
Prime Rib - House Cut
Everything was lovely except for the too cool temperature in the restaurant.
Overall OK at best. Don’t go here if you’re looking for a fine dining experience as it suggest. The place is not all that well kept with filthy windows and menus that haven’t been cleaned or changed in 6+ months. I assume 6 months based off the stains all over them. As for the food it’s not bad in anyway but I would challenge if it’s worth the price even for a resort surcharge. I will say the food is better than you would get if dining at one of the regular spots in Wilderness but not great.
Great food and great service. Will be back for sure!
Excellent steak and seafood. Worth the money, drinks a bit strong, wonderful service
I travel a lot, so I often eat alone. Since my husband passed in February, I have worked at finding ways to get out of the house. My birthday was yesterday and had no one to celebrate with; I went alone to our favorite restaurant, Field's. As always, the food was great, especially the Lobster Bisque. The ambiance is nice, but the sound level can get irritating. The waitress was nice, what little I interacted with her. But herein lies the problem - when dining alone, restaurants appear to prefer not to deal with people who are alone taking up a table. I watched two tables be seated after me. Both had their drink orders taken, drinks served, and menus presented with a description of specials and available seasonal items (that noise level thing - you can hear conversations all around the room). By this time, 20 minutes had passed and all I had was a glass of water. A couple of minutes later, my waitress did come and ask if I wanted something from the bar, took my order, and said she would be back with a drink and a menu. After she had brought hors d'oeuvres to the same tables described above (seated after me), I finally got my drink, a menu, and a "listing" of the two items on special (no description and no other information on seasonal offerings - good thing I heard her at the other tables). Five minutes later she came back for my order. I never saw her again. Others brought my food (as is usual at Fields). The minute I placed my fork down on my plate as I was finished, someone (not my waitress) came and started taking everything from the table. I had to stop her and ask for a box for my remaining steak! Then she came back with my box and a dessert menu. I said I was too full and was about to ask for an after-dinner drink when she interrupted with "Good, I will get you your check." I paid the bill, left a minimum tip (20%), and walked out. This “single” person will not be back. Restaurants need to appreciate that some of us dine alone! We are not outcasts!
Unexpected find in the Wisconsin Dells with outstanding food!
Service at the bar-service in dining room and our meal was excellent as always
The bartender and our waitress were both attentive. Very friendly. Good service. My husband and I ordered bone-in filets. Both steaks lacked flavor and my steak was under done. I ordered the lobster bisque soup. Fantastic! Overall, a nice dining experience but because of the steaks, we would not rush back.
Great food and very good service. We highly recommend Field's.
Amazing food and service! Our favorite restaurant in the area!
overpriced for the quality. the tuna and the lobster bisque were good. but the pizza, seafood medly, prime rib, fries - all meh. the caesar salad was terrible.
Steak and food were fantastic. Like most steak joints the prices can be very expensive but comparable to other steak joints seemed to be on par.
The table setting, the background music (think Sinatra and Righteous Brothers at low volume) and the very attentive wait staff combined to create a relaxing and very pleasant atmosphere. The food and drink were also of high of quality. My prime rib was one of the top 3 that I have encountered in 7+ decades. I highly recommend this steak house.
My advice in summary--at the prices they charge, buyer beware.
Must be having problems with hiring able employees both as servers and cooks.
Very spotty service. As an example, Appeared to be one lead waitress with two very young assistants for 15 tables. One assistant answered questions about the menu by ending her answers with "but I am not sure of that".
Prime rib was offered on the menu. My companion ordered prime rib medium rare. The piece that was served along with the other entrees was medium well. When we asked the young server for the medium rare piece that was ordered, we were told the piece served was the best they could do as the prime rib was all overcooked. She then proceeded to indicate they would replace it with any other type of steak and it would be ready in time for my companion "to take the replaced steak home". What kind of answer is that? So.... my companion sits while I eat??? Full disclosure, my companion ended up eating around the edges of the prime rib and the restaurant removed it from the bill.
I am aware that this restaurant has a captive tourist crowd this time of year and perhaps feels it does not need to mind its p's and q's during tourist season.
There are many similar restaurants in the area that in the future will be first on our list to frequent both inside and outside of tourist season.
Food was delicious! Dessert was especially outstanding!
The waitstaff was great. Portions were large & very good. Will definitely go back on our next visit to the area.
Always great food and outstanding service!
Excellent service and food.
Food was wonderful they have you put what you are celebrating in the description which was our anniversary and nothing was done to celebrate that. I also would have liked to sit outside or have a river view but unfortunately didn’t get the option for either. I didn’t feel like they were as welcoming as I anticipated. I just wish it was a bit more romantic for our 1 year anniversary.
Fields combines fine dining with exceptional service and attention to your every need. The staff is well trained and adds to the superb cuisine. We enjoyed early dining on our 41 wedding anniversary. Thank you, chefs and staff
A wonderful dining experience. The food was fantastic, expertly cooked to perfection. Service was excellent. Very nice restaurant.
From the hostess to all staff..professional and excellent! Food was outstanding and service was on spot!
this time we only had some appitizers. They were good. Cosmo could have been better was not sweet, they should be.
Steaks really were very good and done well. They were also nice about letting us back up our reservation by an hour. But we were really shocked at how inflexible they were about ordering for our group. The service wasn’t unpleasant, it was downright grumpy. It’s tough to get too worked up about service shortcomings anywhere right now since everyone is working short-handed after the Covid mess but just a little effort to make a $500 dinner semi-pleasant doesn’t seem to be much to ask for.
Nice atmosphere for a business dinner. View of golf course is nice.
Shrimp was Luke warm not hot
Waitress needs to listen snd brush up on customer service
Food was excellent no question. However be prepared for everything to cost more and lots of up charges. Things that are included at other fine dining places (like blue cheese dressing and sour cream) cost extra here. If you want twice baked potatoes (which were yummy!) it’s extra. Soup instead of salad, extra. Lobster bisque instead of salad is still full price with entree. So while we loved the food, we probably won’t go back as DeL-Bar, Chop House, Double Cut will be cheaper and just as good food and service.
Amazing food, wonderful staff, incredible experience!
We had a wonderful experience for our first visit to Fields. The service and food were outstanding!!
Awesome dining experience. From the greeting at entry to the fantastic service to the awesome food and drinks it was a wonderful evening.
I gave Fields 5 stars for a reason, but you have to go there for yourself to find out why !
Years ago this was a 5 rating but not anymore.
Though they really know how to make a steak here, what used to be outstanding has become run of the mill. The evidence was overwhelming as only 30% of the tables were full at 7 PM on a Saturday with the Wilderness sold out!
The ambiance hasn’t changed in decades, and that’s a bad thing. With some Wright design touches, rolling wood carts to serve and funky Acrilc ugly fountains, this place feels caught in the 1990’s or earlier.
The server was OKAY but the back waiters who actually delivered the food were unaware, ignorant and never smiled. They served food to an empty seat while never even recognizing a guest hadn’t been served. They never said a word or asked if we needed anything so we had to wait several minutes to eat entrees because two of us had our knives cleared with salad, and never replaced them.
Crab cakes were cold in the center and bland. The shrimp cocktail was flaccid and poor. Steak entrees were good but the rest were far from the monetary value.
No, what once was a special fine dining experience now ranks as mediocre in the Dells, with Double Cut, Kaminskis and even the also old school Del Bar beating it out. To many places like these fall into a malaise by never remaining contemporary or adapting to new completion. A pity.
Excellent food and service. Best place in the dells.
Great service. Waiter over heard us talking about our anniversary and brought a complimentary ice cream. The food was delicious. We will come back
Filets dinners were very good and drinks decent but second one arrived with my check. Would have been nice to enjoy a drink with the second half of my dinner considering the only reason we ever received water was because we asked for it while other tables had carafes on their tables. Bread is something else you should be prepared to ask for and hopefully you can track down a server for that, don’t over use the butter either because that seams to be rationed. Salads are far from traditional, never had a Caesar Salad with pepperoncini & green olives. Irritating that they sat our family in a dark corner by a loud group after I noticed later all the nice window tables with a view.
We are locals and was hoping for a local menu but it it only on Friday nights. It was my husband’s birthday and he was wanting to order their prime rib but it wasn’t available.
This was the third time coming here to dine. The service was outstanding each and every time. The staff was exceptional as was the service. Will come back again.
Sent steak twice. Both times over cooked. Manager was very rude.
This is the best place to eat in the Wisconsin Dells. The food is top notch and excellent service.
We have dined at Field's at the Wilderness many times and this time was no different...never disappoints! One of the best restaurants in Wisconsin Dells for fine dining!
