A very nice find! The food was very good and nice size portions. The calamari and meatballs are a great choice for an appetizer. Everyone at our party of 4 enjoyed their entrees, each ordering a different option. The service was very attentive and it's a BYOB! We will definitely go back again!
Focacceria is a superior restaurant. The menu is filled with terrific offerings. Specials are always wonderful and the service is personal and attentive. They also offer take out. Would urge all to support them.
Love this place! Was my birthday and had a party of 6 service was amazing table was ready ! Food was great
Delicious salads and pasta dishes - especially gnocchi. Lovely old building nicely decorated. The most attractive dining space and ambiance of any restaurant I have visited in the area. Lovely table linen and napkins. Will definitely go back.
We are frequent diners here. Love the food and Danny is the best waiter for sure! Bolognese is excellent as well as the Calamari. Highly recommend it, especially on week day when not so crowded and noisy.
As always our meal was outstanding. Both the food and the service were top notch
Always wonderful! Brought friends here for the first time and they loved it. We lucked out with a quiet table tucked away in a corner. Can't wait to come back.
Nick & Cheech always do a great job-dinner was fabulous and service top notch-we go back often-
Good as always. Good value and no rushing which a lot of places do
Had the most delicious dinner, welcoming and attentive service . Never felt rushed; will def return
Great, cozy place to dine with friends.
Everything we ate was delicious. The salads were good, and both salmon dishes tasty. Will go back for sure.
First time dining here. Excellent food and service. Will definitely be back...often!
Food and service were very good. However poorly organized for checking in. There were two seatings and everyone had to wait outside in 12 degree weather for 30-45 minutes later than reservation time. If doing evenings with seating times in the future - they really need to solve better as people were miserable and many left.
Valentine’s Day dinner. First time visit based on the good reviews. So disappointed. I surmised that this place must be popular because you get an expensive restaurant with the benefit of bringing your own wine (it’s a BYOB) to save a few dollars. First, we waited 30 minutes to be seated for our 8:00 reservation. I could understand that, given the holiday, and perhaps it was busier than usual. However, the restaurant appears be in an older, converted two-story house. No decor. There was no place to wait, except a tiny entrance vestibule, where we were packed like sardines with other patrons. Those that couldn’t fit had to stand outside on the front steps in 24° weather. Terrible. Also, we had to wait 15 minutes just to give our name at the makeshift front desk. Not only did they not check a computer for our reservations, they just wrote people’s names on a piece of paper as people were able to check in. They were seating us based on this handwritten list. I was lucky I pushed my way to the front. Otherwise, we would never have been seated. Most of the time there was no one even standing there taking names. Lord only knows what they were doing in other parts of the restaurant. I felt terrible for the people standing outside, who perhaps never got seated. I noticed families leaving, who did not want to stand outside in the freezing cold. When we were finally seated, we were brought to a table on the second floor. Cozy, with tables very close together. But that was expected, given the holiday. However, there was a total of 10 empty tables in this room. There were people standing outside in the cold, and there were 10 empty tables? I have no idea what that was all about. Service from the waiter was very good. However, the food was overly salty. My husband ordered the linguine and short ribs, and I had the Tuscan stew, both off the regular menu. Even the bread, which was otherwise fresh and delicious, had a overly salty crust. Disappointing. Will not return.
Valentine’s Day dinner, had reservations for 8pm seating. Tables were not ready at 8 pm and everyone had to wait outside in the cold for over 40 minutes. Totally unacceptable.
Reservations and sat for 6pm but didn't get our entree's until 730. People who were seated after us got their food and left before we got our dinner. My grilled salmon was dry and over cooked when it finally arrived. Only reason not giving I've start is the grilled octopus was good.
Eh. You can’t fill a restaurant for a seating at 6:00 and think it’s going to go well for all...
One of our favorite restaurants. The food is always delicious and reasonable. On this Valentine’s Day the prices were the same as they always are. Our only complaint was they seemed to squeeze in extra tables so everyone was on top of each other. Not comfortable or “private.”
Had to wait outside for 35 minutes with many people (approx 20 people, all with reservations) in 19 degrees Fahrenheit weather. Waited another 30 mins once we crossed the threshold of the house/restaurant. Food was fine. Service was fine... but today.. I have a runny nose. Maybe its related... maybe its not.
Had a 6 pm reservation on Valentine’s Day. Tables were not ready at 6 pm and everyone had to wait outside in the 30 degree cold for 25 minutes to be admitted inside. Totally unacceptable. No one from restaurant came outside to explain situation. Horrible experience.
Delicious Food! Every course was better than the last!
Very nice relaxed and quiet restaurant. The Staff was appropriately attentive and the owner made a point to come over and make sure everything was good and if there was anything else we needed. The restaurant is BYOB which helps the overall dinner costs. The pasta is made daily and is very tasty.
Meeting friends for dinner. One of our favorite restaurants. Food and service was great.
My friend and I had never been and were looking for some place relaxed, intimate, with wonderful food and that’s what we found. The atmosphere was quaint and soft. The individual dining rooms... intimate. In short, don’t judge a book by its cover. Go. You won’t be disappointed in any aspect be it the food, service, or space. I will say we both had the homemade fettuccine that was on the special menu the night we went and it was spectacular.
This restaurant is a real gem! Tucked away in an old house in a historic neighborhood, it isn't the easiest place to notice, and the parking is not the most convenient. But the food and service are great and as a BYOB restaurant, it provides a good value for your money. I highly recommend it!
We have dined at Focacceria Restaurant 5 times since January 7. Sometimes just the 2 of us, and sometimes with friends. Everyone we have brought here also loves it. The atmosphere is wonderful, complete with a pleasant decor and white tablecloths. The menu is very appealing, complete with daily specials. We always have several options for dinner. I have some food issues, and they are always able to modify my meal so I can eat it. Desserts are really good!
Danny is our favorite server. He is always friendly and courteous. Even when the restaurant is busy, he is still attentive and accommodating to our needs. In fact, all of the staff are always very helpful, making sure we have everything we need to have a wonderful dinner.
We also love that Focacceria is BYOB!!
We always look forward to a night at Focacceria! In fact, we will be back again this Saturday February 8!!
Great service in a beautiful old house . Delicious food from an extensive menu and a chef who is willing to adapt a dish to satisfy a diner’s request.
We have been coming here for many years and have never been disappointed. Lovely outdoor tables available on a patio for the warmer months . Highly recommend this restaurant !
GREAT food! Service above and beyond. Great table placement of all guests. Can't say enough!
Food, service, ambiance were good. I particularly enjoyed the low noise level. The background music was pleasant, although I would have preferred silence. The access to the handrails to the entrance steps is obstructed by ornamental plants on both sides; suggest moving them a bit.
Have been going here since it opened and to
Nicks' former restaurants. Always great food and
professional super friendly service.
Also a BYOB which suits me fine.
I indicated on the Open Table booking form that the special occasion was birthday. When being seated my wife told the hostess it was her birthday. Owner came over to greet us since we are regular customers and commented on the Champagne we brought. I told him it was for my wife’s birthday.
There was no recognition from the restaurant. A brownie with candle would have been nice
First timer. A real gem! Food, service was fabulous!
This wasn’t our first visit and this one was a fail in several fronts. The service was a bit lacking, hardly saw our waiter and we poured all of our own wines all night. Not a big deal but worth noting. I don’t think BYOB means MYOB.
The food was also not great, some of it not even good. Starting with the salad, the tase was fine but at $9 given the serving size it was a waste. The Calamari app was cracker-crispy and totally fried with a texture of saddle leather.
Two of the main dishes were heavily gloppy in consistency with way too much thickeners. The pounded veal chop was pounded perfectly thin but then topped with a very heavy hand thick and acidic tomato sauce. So much so that there was no ability to taste veal. The only flavor was tomato with the crunch of Panko.
A total fail.
This may be the best Italian restaurant in New Jersey
Great cozy place for two!
Always receive great service and excellent food.. and that’s why we return!
Lovely local place. Main floor dining can be a little crowded and noisy. Food is always great. Salmon was delicious!
My favorite local place to eat. Delicious food, great service and very clean establishment!
Terrific meal with friends. Love this restaurant!
