Food was overpriced and waitress stood so far away from the table that I felt like I was in a drive thru.

Warm, intimate feel. Varied selection on the menu. The seafood sampler appetizer was a bit skimpy, but flavorful. The taste of the black cod was superb, but the texture slightly soggy/mushy.

Great wine selection Tun, oysters were crisp and fresh, halibut melted in my mouth. Double pork chop for two was GONE and the desserts were finished, I don’t know how we found the room for them but they were too good to leave any bites.

We needed to get two candles as it was a bit dark but it was cozy and quiet.

We felt very safe as everyone social distances and wore masks.

Seated at very dark table. Also very small so that new rule to have mask on whenever server is at table requires it always be at the ready and take table space. Server was great and makes dining awkward. Thinking this is a Portland rule as other cities in Maine not observing. I am all for mask wearing but this does not seem to be well thought out. Made it an expensive mediocre fine dining experience. Returning customer, but likely not until Covid passes. And there was no way I could tell the cooked le vel of my hanger steak with the darkness. Compliance with this awkward rule seemed varied among diners as well.

An absolutely perfect spot for our birthday celebration dinner. The food was fantastic - particularly the halibut - the servers were extremely professional, polite, and knowledgeable, and the ambiance/overall vibe was lovely. Would love to go back and 100% recommend!

Beautiful ambiance. Great service. The food was overly rich and heavy. Meat was incredibly fatty. Make sure to hang up your coat at coat room because you leave smelling like grease.

Came here for a special occasion with my girlfriend and had excellent service with great food.

Excellent service and atmosphere. Charcuterie outstanding, turnspit rabbit fantastic, mussels were a little fish for us, personally. Desserts were incredible.

AMAZING, a must go when in Portland. Ambience is welcoming and warm. Food is out of this world. A good sized menu with variety for seafood and non-seafood eaters. Loved the Brussel Sprout Salad and the Haddock. Service is impeccable.

Food was great, our server Joe was very knowledgeable, his in depth knowledge of the menu, wine and cocktails made for an outstanding dining experience.

Very enjoyable dinner, I love the fresh organic salad. I loved the vanilla pudding desert. It was not loud at all but probably due to the extra spacing between the tables. Not bad. Would not mind it that way all the time instead of people right next to you so you hear their entire conversations. Service was very good. Am sure I will be back again.

Amazing food. Amazing service! The fish dishes were done to perfection & the dessert was delicious along with the drinks...just a wonderful experience!

Service was very efficient and professional but not personable. The sea bass was edible but was not a catch of the day which sort of defeated the mission of this restaurant to serve fresh market food daily. They removed this dish from the meal without our asking after hearing the complaint - this was very professional and the right thing to do. The wine list is interesting, but pricing in some ways bewildering although generally good value

Fore Street was hands down our favorite restaurant while visiting Portland! Everything was 5 stars—food, drinks, service, ambiance. Such a great place for a date night or to celebrate something special. Will come back again the next time we are in Portland! This is a must when visiting!

Everything was great form the food to the service, especially dining out during the time of Covid, they took wonderful measures to make sure everyone is safe.

This was the first time in 15 years of eating there that the food wasn't perfect. But these challenging times for restaurants could have been a factor this visit.

Possibly the best restaurant in Portland.

Took my family for their first meal at Fore Street Restaurant. We had the Pork Sirloin, Mussells, Hangar Steak and Scallops. They were perfectly prepared and served. I would recommend this restaurant to all!

Live in Boston and have been coming here for 15 years. As good or better than any restaurant in Boston. Phenomenal food, service and ambience. Why else would one drive 2 hours for dinner

The menu is different every day but there is something from each category to please all palates. I had pork and my husband at steak....both were cooked to perfection.
So fun to see all the action in the "open " kitchen while in a cozy and comfortable atmosphere.
Delicious dessert to end the evening was over the top.
The bakery that they own behind the restaurant was worth stopping in the next morning as their bread is amazing. Also got more of the amazing ginger spice cookies that came with my creme brulee the night before.
5 star restaurant by far....its a must if you go to Portland!

We were celebrating just getting married with a trip up to Portland. Fore Street never disappoints...everything was absolutely spot on from the food to Neil and the ambience. Every time I’m in Portland I make a point to come here and look forward to continuing that tradition for years to come.
