The salmon and steak were amazing! Also the roasted cauliflower was superb, and the olive oil/paprika dipping oil was fantastic. We'll be back!
Very good and inventive menu selections. Good wine list, with knowledgeable and attentive staff that can guide you. Restaurant is small, but that adds to the ambiance.
Lovely Meal, Small Cozy Space, Good Valve For The Quality Of The Food. Good Wine List Reasonably Priced.
Great food and wine!!
Food was out of this world! Very small, intimate location that has a seasonal menu. My parents were extremely impressed by the menu, the food and the wine list! Daniel was our server and extremely helpful with all our questions. Great spot for special occasions and date
Was such an amazing experience, I came twice in the same week.
So charming..the cutest, intimate atmosphere, great food, great wine..lovely waiter. CanMt recommend it highly enough.
SUPERB! Tiny, so not much room, but intimate and so worth it! Daniel the host was warm and knowledgeable and made the evening, along with the superb food. Escargot, duck confit, lamb; you can't go wrong. a truly hidden gem downtown.
Food and atmosphere were superb; however, the service was far than desirable...it wasn't even crowded. If you're willing to wait on service than it's a must
Amazing food, top notch customer service. Would deff recommend :)
Great food, great staff, lovely dessert, very good salmon!
Room to improve on the restaurant temperature: with the kitchen so close to the dinning area and the AC on Heat mode, it was like having dinner inside an Egyptian pyramid over the summer (i.e. they are especially hot over the summer).
Excellent food in an intimate room with just 20 tables which are very close together. The service is attentive and well presented. The only drawbacks were the very dark room - you could not see the excellent plates - and the surprisingly high noise level. If you know that in advance, the positives of the dining experience outweigh the negatives.
Great food and drink as always. Our server was very serious and almost seemed impatient with us, as we were talking instead of ordering right away. It wasn’t a deal killer , but noticeable.
That said this is one of my favorite boites in New York and the food never fails to delight. Order the venison bacon bourgignon. C’est magnifique!
Now on my 3rd time there, have already recommended this to friends. Will see you again.
Greeted by name when we entered. Friendly lively service. Delicious food.
Amazing service, ambient, food was incredible. Couldn’t recommend more
Came here for dinner.
Ordered the bison tartare and venison steak. The tartare was served with toast; bearnaise sauce on the side. It was nice. The "venison steak" was disappointing. It wasn't a steak at all, but rather a stew. It kind of just tasted like an ordinary beef stew. A beef stew might be fine if it were $16, but I wouldn't pay $32 for that.
The restaurant was cramped. Possibly the smallest dine-in restaurant I've seen. It felt like being on a plane, in coach. The location isn't great. A nearby street was closed and being dug up. Rivington St. looks like a random back alley.
Gentleman Farmer's storefront is hard to notice. The name is printed on the glass windows, but was barely noticeable at night.
The bloody mary was so-so. I overheard them asking if they had any more bloody mary mix--so it isn't exactly home-made.
They put the bill on an iPad. If you don't like showing the bill to the table, well, too bad.
Charmingly small and intimate, the tiny kitchen works magic. Everything we tried was superb- especially the twice cooked risotto. A real neighborhood restaurant and a place to escape the tourists.
Excellent food, nice little restaurant! Will definitely come back!
I ordered the filet mignon and it was delicious. Because I ordered medium well it was very soft in the middle which paired magnificently with the foie gras that seamlessly melted on my tongue and the crispy piece of bread hidden under the meat. Overall the lovely quaint atmosphere and the vino verde added beautifully to make the meal quite perfect.
Amazing restaurant .. food was the best I’ve had in years and the service and ambience is top notch ..
Rapport qualité prix insuffisant. Aucun espace convivial, aucune ambiance.
A fantastic dining experience!
Great food at a reasonable price. Great atmosphere.
My third visit and I was not disappointed. This gem on the Lower Eastside serves delicious meals from one of the smallest kitchens in the City.
Small, cozy, wonderful on a rainy night (which it was). Great neighborhood "french." Broad menu for varied palates, great to bring out of town guests, good noise level for conversation, nice, wallet-friendly but short wine list, lucky to have it so close.
Great atmosphere. Server was attentive and quick. Would go back
Gentleman Farmer is a tiny little restaurant but it is absolutely precious. I made a last minute reservation for myself, my brother, and mom to celebrate my mom's upcoming birthday, and luckily the party before us didn't show up so were able to be seated earlier. The wine selection was great, with delicious by the glass options available. We ordered three appetizers: the bison tartar, grilled octopus, and curried snails, which were fantastic and all shared an entree of the venison steak. It was an incredible meal and I look forward to returning to try the other dishes on the menu.
I love this restaurant. The food is consistently excellent and prepared on demand. The atmosphere, the staff, the food - it does not get better in NYC.
Amazing as always.
